  • Solar energy. All the energy we want is there for the asking, right? The sun shines, gives us power. What are we waiting for?
    As with all blessings, this too has costs - in the form of photo voltaic cells in solar panels, land to house those panels, maintenance, power distribution... And, all of these together have to be cheaper than power obtained from burning coal, if we want to go green.
    Though solar energy costs have plummeted over the past decade, capacity - which is now at 57 GW - and renewables as a whole (at 114-odd GW) still have some catching up to do with thermal energy capacity, which is currently 236 GW.
    In this episode, a little bit of physics and some economic policy will help us understand where India stands and why.

    This is why THE HINDU is best for it's content and news. This is scrap for all those media channels who are constructively engaged in यांच्या घरी साप घुसला, टोला लगावला, भाजप शिवसेना यांची युती. Literally a good source of repository.

    There is a good way of we combine the agricultural and solar plant kinda agrovoltics.
    Vertical farming in ground and solar farming on top.

    • @sokolmihajlovic1391
      @sokolmihajlovic1391 Před rokem

      That is just a good thing to supply energy.
      But more importantly, even getting more important in near future, agrivoltaics helps collect water. And by creating obstacles for the wind, it helps lessing the drying of fields by the wind.
      But the only viable solution to save the planet is using methanol instead of fossil fuels.

    The government has been on target w.r.t the solar transition
    However, the area where we have failed miserably is the roff-top commercial and residential solar power. The government has failed to motivate the people to use solar power to fulfill their own energy demands.

    Why is solar energy limitedby targets. Why not aim at 100 percent electricity using solar pv only?is there a single village or city or part of these that operate only on solar electricity, why no proceed part by part!!village by village consumer by consumer?

    We have been talking about Solar energy for more than 5 decades without any improvement since it's an expensive offer for installation even for house holding, if the total amount of installation were kept on Fixed deposit we can easily pay the power consumption changes plus additional income, the reason why it's not being attractive.
    We have other sources of power generations like Hydro and Wind power energy but these are also not being encouraged, the amount of money we spend in Solar energy is huge when compared to investment to be made for these power generations.

    Shouldn't you have cleared that the arrears that are required to be cleared, are of the electricity bought at spot markets and NOT of the long term contracts??!!!
    Correct me if I am wrong here.
