One thing we get asked often is "Why did you choose to live in Lakewood Ranch?" and one of the MAIN reasons is its proximity to Sarasota.
We love this city with the abundance of shopping, dining, theater, arts, and endless entertainment. We thought it would be fun to show YOU what it looks like, too!
So we filmed a walking tour on a Farmers Market afternoon to show you the sights, some of our favorite spots, and the beautiful Sarasota Bay. Then we went to dinner and saw a show at Florida Studio Theater!

Wow!! It looks great...but living here is another story...crowded...expensive...and most of the time is indoors with the A/C running...but it does look nice...and if your not a retired married couple, you will feel like an outsider...not a place for single people at all....gets very boring after a while...it's bars and Restaurants...very very hard to meet people...
I'm born and raised in Queens NY and we moved here after my daughter was born. She's about to turn 11 now. It's been a great place to raise her, very kid friendly. But I agree, it's not a place for young singles. It's very much at the pace of living in a nursing home. Things close early and good luck getting anything to eat after 8 PM. That is, aside from the typical chain restaurants like Applebee's. It's becoming more and more crowded as roads cannot handle the massive influx of people and development that's taking place here. it's a shame we are loosing so much nature and green space. I stay away from popular places on weekends and holidays because the traffic is ridiculous.
Absolutely 💯...it feels like living in a nursing home inside a busy Airport...nobody was born here...living here feels fake and unnatural...
A lot has changed in the last 5 years... and definitely in the last 11 years... that's for sure. Lots of give and take comes with the progress.

Everyone was at the Farmer's Market, or inside in the AC since it was a warm day! LOL

I prefer Hallandale beach Florida beautiful city good beaches and restaurants and growing businesses and communities, and good night life.☀️🫡
We've never been there but will have to check it out. East coast vs West coast is definitely the never ending debate of all Floridians!
