Sheesh, give the guy a break, this has to be one of the best visuals as far as function of the AR-15 and it's operation. Thanks for making and sharing.

Probably the simplest AR15/M16 animation out there, each section depicted in an easily-absorbed sequence. Even a total novice could come away with a working knowledge of the weapon operation. Great vid!
Idk why some creators work hours on great vids, only to slap on horrible music in 5 minutes.
It was almost perfect, dude!
The fact you used the word "ginormous" makes this whole video worth it. Well done sir, well done.
I was in the infantry and I NEVER got as full an understanding as what you just taught in this video and Part 1. Nicely done!
They really don't teach you how your weapon works?
Bill Melater as a former infantry soldier myself I can say that they don't. You learn how to shoot and clean your rifle very well, but as far as the mechanical workings are concerned, they're (the military) not required to even talk about it.
Seems like the two would go hand in hand, but I guess knowing what makes it tick doesn't prevent you from learning to use it. This is not meant to reflect those in/used to be in the service, but some people I run into at the range know two things (most of the time) 1. where the bullets go. 2. Where the bang switch is. Anything after that is sometimes a complete toss-up.
When I served my 2.5 years compulsory military service in my country back in the early 1970s, we were taught the principle of how the M-16 rifle works. Back then, There were only 20-round magazines like those you see in those 70s Vietnam War movies.
I thought you'd know the in and out of your rifle after cleaning it a thousand times.
Now that I understand how the trigger actually stops the hammer action twice, I can understand why a binary trigger fires on both the pull and release action. Thank you for the crystal clear visual understanding of the complete firing action. This will be invaluable for troubleshooting problems.
Now think about how a piece of bent coat hanger....
@@bovineexcrement8635 why?
m.czcams.com/video/oFyoDYDPFLU/video.html
@@bovineexcrement8635 From what I can tell not allowing either of the "catches" to do their job would cause out of battery hammer falls... which could be bad. Maybe I'm missing something that also blocks the hammer from falling while the bolt is going forward as well.
@@TheFlyingZulu The segment of coat hanger is for converting the "disconnector" to an automatic sear: if bent properly, the hammer release is delayed long enough for the bolt to lock
Wow what a great animation and appreciate the Dirty Harry reference.

Well done. I used this to show my wife how the AR platform works. She was impressed.
Best vid yet! Built many AR's and know the function, but I can very much appreciate a detailed video breakdown of the entire process. This is so good! Thanks!
FINALLY, an educational video on CZcams.
Where's the hidden grenade launcher and missle guidance system
It's in a Pelican case buried under the driveway, right next to the silencer and jig for the 3rd hole

Hands down the best visual video on how an AR-15 works. This is an excellent follow-up to part 1 describing the components of an AR-15. The see-through diagrams are outstanding as well as the graphics! Thanks for putting this together!
This has to be the best illustration I've ever seen. Excellent job in creating this video. Well done !!!
This and the previous should be a must see for anyone that owns an AR. Well done, guys.
I started the day with very little knowledge of how an AR15 worked. After a morning of watching videos (yours being one of the most informative) I now have very solid understanding of the operation of this weapon. Thanks.
pinnacle of analog mechanical design
Designed like that
Not even close lol, it's great and more complex than many other adopted firearms, but it has nothing on AN-94, TKB-022PM and many other prototype and adopted in small numbers firearms, they were simply too good for their time.
@@thermionicemission6355 you’re pretty dumb aren’t you? If they were so good why didn’t militaries adopt them in droves. The an 94 is an unreliable piece of shit with a lot of recoil. All those 2 shot systems are over engineered trashed.

Great job, thanks for taking the time to make such a detailed animation. Very thorough
That was extremely well done. Great simulation and easy to follow. Thanks
Just what I was looking for. Just recently finished an AR build. I needed this video so I could visually understand how it works and why it works. Thank you so much! Subscribed & will keep watching more!
Your videos on how these weapons work is awesome. Keep up the good work and Thank You.
Thank you for explaining how the bolt catch works! Everyone else on the internet has been so unhelpfull, always explaining it's function or how to use it but never how it opperates.
Officially called the LRBHO, or Last Round Bolt Hold Open.
converted a complicated process and shown it in a very simple way loved the animation and overall amazing!!
Thank you for this video. Extremely informative. I'm a visual learner, so the sliced view of all of the components was a game-changer. And having it as a video and not just pictures makes it even easier to understand. I appreciate your efforts.
damn.... one of the best EXPLANATIONS about how the semi automatic mode works all over the internet!!!
Brilliant video. I pulled this up because I wanted to show my girlfriend the basics of how a semiautomatic works, but I ended up learning a lot myself too.

I wonder if she was as fascinated as my wife is when I show her stuff like that.
The hard rock 🎸 was a tad distracting but I get the gist of it. I toted a M16a1 5.56mm then later a M16/203 variant. I'm not a huge AR rifle fan but they are extremely popular.
Fantastic 45Snipers keep on making awesome videos.
Phenomenal graphics and perfectly simple descriptions. 🤙 🤜🤛
The technique of understanding is so perfect
45Snipers,
I've been shooting M-16's and Ar-15's since I went to basic training in 1985. THIS is the most informative and well made video I've seen to explain Eugene Stoner's design. Thanks for sharing it. By the way, good choice with the music. I had to dig down in the comments (through all the trolls) to find "Ethan Meixsell" as the artist. Thanks for sharing that too.
CJ Johnson u
lol eugene only designed the AR10 someone sutherland and another bloke designed the AR15 as the did the caliber conversion and made it eugene didn't do shit
Thanks for the clarification!
yeah I thought Armalite designed this and it was sold to stoner as the M16. Colt redesigned it as the AR15 as we know it today. but the foundation and principals explained here are the same. the difference is the trigger mechanism
I recommend www.sigsuaers.com/ for your best ammunition I just got my order from them. .😍💯💯
Awesome video, well done! Answered many questions I had about the inner workings of the AR platform rifle.
I think this is the best types of these videos I've seen.
It's very nice to see that someone put a video up to help those whom are curious as to what makes an AR-15 style rifle tick!!😁😎
Awesome animations. I can remember the countless times in basic training where we had to clean our M16s. I had pretty much all that figured out from cycling it over and over again and seeing the parts moving. The animations confirmed what I had come up with.

call of duty flashbacks
I served in the 80s....barely remember anything about the M-16, except we had semi and full auto at the time....3-shot burst came along after I got out.
Very good 😁😁😁
I had a good idea from what was going on... but even tho I know how the bolt turns on the pin I missed that that was happening in operation. I thought I had it all figured but not 100%.
Awesome video dude , awesome job.
Hey, this video is still famous...

You're welcome Luke. Thanks for watching.
That was an amazingly perfect and accurate depiction of how an AR works. I have built a few and until watching this video, I didn't really understand the physics of some of it. Thanks bud.
Thanks, I was wondering about how the gas driven system worked. Now I know. Excellent!
What amazes me, is the bolt can go in, lock against the pressure of firing, then unlock and go rearward again, and do that at a fast rate of fire. I know this got invented long before, but it seems to have reached a pinnacle with the AR-15. Its a very pretty piece of engineering.

Hey. Do you know why the bolt needs to rotate?
@@moritzrossbroich It locks into the front to hold it in place during primer ignition. Those teeth fit through slots, then it rotates, so that they would catch on the slots when pressure tries to push it back out. I found this video that clarifies it really well: czcams.com/video/Qlk9BG8aAbs/video.html
