  • Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Mitch Marner takes a tumble and goes hard into the boards, he would try to tough it out, but looked like he was in some discomfort and would eventually leave the game in the 3rd.

He's a tough cookie though. Gets hit almost every game, blocks shots (the other day he took one right to the chest and stayed on the ice for the rest of his shift) but it seems like he gets more pumped up because of it. Hopefully he's just sore and will be back soon.

    - Credit Marner for trying to play through but gotta shut him down in case it's anything a bit more serious.

Could be a separated shoulder. I hit the boards just like that, eventually had to leave the ice and fainted 20 minutes later.

1 game vs the rest of the season/career... you don't want to aggravate an injury that could cause lingering issues for the rest of the season/his career... he's a young player, and a very important piece for the Leafs going forward as they try and get into the playoffs, it was pretty evident that he was not 100% and was clearly more prone to aggravating it more.
