- The amazing UDO Super 6 is the only keyboard I own. I researched a lot before buying one and after a long time I landed on this one.
While offering a classic and comprehensible layout , the Super 6 is a sound beast, adding lot of modern features to a classic design.

Nice demo man, beautiful! The Super 6 really intrigues me, I'd love to get one eventually to do a video on as well - you got some great sounds out of yours!
Thanks !
UDO Super 6 is an amazing synth. Good video 👌🏻
thanks!
Big fan of that synth. Nice review and demo!
thanks!
Love the intro motif. It has melodic movement and a pulse. Really great!
Thank you so much!
so helpful! thanks for putting this tutorial together. just got the udo super 6 yesterday and this is the best master class i could have asked for.
Glad it helped!
This synth is a BOMB! Thank you for a good review❤
thanks!
Before posting a comment I will just say you missed a few things - cloning DDS 1 to LFO1 as audible range oscillator, the band pass filter option, as well as oscillator slope and detune functionality. As for filter tracking, it can track pure sinewave, and tracking on envelopes affect ANYTHING that envelopes are modulating - you can set tracking for both envelopes by holding shift. While in terms of dynamics and frequency tracking makes higher tones snappier and shorter, it can also be HUGE deal if you modulate other stuff with the tracking 100% on. Also, you don't need to modulate filter with envelope 1 - you can change to whichever envelope you want. Notice that LFO/envelope next to each section - that's Jupiter layout and cross mod architecture. Now, regarding few things you said. Firstly, the difference between DDS 1 and 2 is that DDS1 is a single cycle waveform played at a different speed, while DDS 2 has been programmed as triangle core with wave shaping, and has somewhat lower Nyquist frequency. You can clearly hear saw wave being quite darker on DDS 2, and thats the beauty of this instrument. Second, It is not inspired by Juno, but Jupiter 6. I also thought it is J6 clone so I didn't pay enough attention. Then I sent Iridium I just bought back and got S6 instead. Was blown away with what it does and what it can do, and as someone who has Jupiter 6 for decades, I can tell S6 is only aesthetically following J6 layout, with some logical similarities, but it is probably the best new instrument in years. Clever use of FPGA and amazing analogue circuitry brought out super powerful features, can't wait for Gemini! This synth is like modular - you can have 3 oscillators, you can use LFO as oscillator, DDS2 as LFO, cycle envelopes, detach envelopes from filter and amplitude and use them for whatever, cross modulate so many things... it is absolutely amazing instrument.
mea culpa :D
I sent back an iridium too after getting this. Still a lot to learn but also my use of synths is way more basic, so I am aware I am just scratching the surface here.
Why did you send the iridium back my friend??@OoraMusic
@@maydaygoingdown5602 because I found it to be an amazing synth, but actually just another computer running tons of really good plugins. It did not excite me as a hardware unit. I have so many synths accumulated since 90s I decided to keep only stuff that has unique character and tactile workflow. In all honesty most of the features on iridium i already have in the box. Not saying it is a bad product by any means. I have waldorf synths forever, Microwave, M1 etc. oh sorry only now i realize oora did the same and you are asking him lol
This thing really suits your style man. Great jams at the end.
Thanks a ton!
Totally meditative… immerses you like a sonic kaleidoscope.
:)
Thanks Federico!
my pleasure
Great video !!! thanks!
Glad you liked it!
def a synth in my wish list!
One of the best sounding synth CZcamsr👌🏽
too kind thanks!
very nice, really like the Super 6 and hovering over buying the Super Gemini too but I’ve run out of room
Understandable!!
I have the super 6 desktop version, and I absolutely LOVE it. Seriously, give it a go in tandem with the Elektron Analog Heat +FX! I just picked up my heat today and can’t get over just how insane it is with the S6!
I am waiting for one!!
Love the UDO Super 6
me too
Im on the hunt for my first synthesizer, I'm almost sure most if not everyone will suggest I start with something much more beginner friendly. But idk, I want to dive right in. Love the look and sound UDO.
this one can be as easy as you want. the lack of a screen could be hard for a beginner tho
Please let us know if you plan to ever offer your patches as a purchase or on your Patreon, these are wonderful sounds. I love my Super 6 to death, I was a very early adopter and currently help with beta work.
Yes will happens soon!
@@OoraMusic Any news on a patch pack? I would LOVE to pick them up (yes, I am the OP - diff account). Let me know!
I woke up very excited to watch this today, nice one Oora! (Just some constructive criticism on the background music, it would be lovely to hear something different, I heard that track many times when I closely followed your 3 production videos which were fantastic, your workflow videos are my favorites, but I must have listened very closely to the track because now I’m a little tired of it, sorry to say, but I thought you might appreciate hearing from a listeners view :))
make sense actually :)
Lovely synth and review. You explained it very well and it doesn't seem so complicated now. I'm surprised you didn't go for the desktop version for performance purposes. It would have been a nice combo with Vermona sequenced all together from OXI or Octatrack! The keyboard is beautiful though and since you have nice studio space makes sense as well. Thanks again!
sometimes I think that I would have loved the desktop even more :D
I don't have many bigger keyboard synths either; just a fairly compact Sequential Take 5 sitting in front of my DAW, as main keyboard synth. Have a Moog Grandmother on the way, and that will sit nicely in a seperate area in front of my 6U modular. Next year, I'll upgrade my studio monitors. But the year after, I'd like to buy one of these nice higher-end polysynths since I'll move to a bigger space. Have a Peak, which to my mind is kind of a distant cousin of the more refined sounding Super 6. But I love my Peak for it's big larger than life sound. Was leaning towards an Arturia Polybrute later. But, since it's in the same price ballpark as a Super 6, that's an alternative. I wonder if you considered the Polybrute? And if so, what made you choose the Super 6, over the Polybrute.
I love the peak! I never really clicked with poly brute aesthetic, I know it might sound silly, but is a great part on why I get interested in stuff.
@@OoraMusic definitely know where you are coming from. The UDO ticks that SH-101++ wantlist. Prefer the form factor if Peak to Summit too. Actually, the Sequential Take 5 is not my favourite looking or named synth. But love it's sound. But if they could have made it look more like the Moog Grandmother Dark ...
The bit at just leading up to 36 minutes, reminds me a lot of the British electronic music artist 36 (Dennis Huddlestone). Especially the Symmetry Systems album, and tracks like Symmetry Systems (Porcelain) and Symmetry Systems (Violet). Another one of my favourite artists, whose been releasing incredible albums over many years. And actually really starting to hit a purple patch (Cold Ecstasy, Full Spectrum Submission, Colours in the Dark have all been brilliant. The previous three albums before that too.
thanks for sharing, I will check them now
Che bel canale. Bellissime demo… Niente Wow, niente effetti speciali, niente screams and Shout. Veramente. Anyway lo comprai prima dell’estate….il miglior synth mai preso insieme a l’Ob6. Molto di più del MoogOne.
Grazie, provo a essere il più' onesto e "Tranquillo" possibile :) OB6 is on my list!
I was not impressed but then at 37:49 the magic started. Thanks for a great talk.
and please consider I am still learning the instrument :D
@@OoraMusic By the way you are very impressive with your setup and how you make music, I just did not love the synth as much yet.
Hey, where did you get those pastel colored curly cables?
those are MyVolts
Pretty cool how the UDO Super 6 matches the tattoo 🙃
ahahah true!!
Nice! Please do the Waldorf M at some point!
If they send me one. :)
Great synth! Question: why is this titled "Adventures in Binaural"?
From SOUND ON SOUND:
"When binaural mode is enabled, the 12 voices are paired to form six true stereo voices. Left and right signals get processed independently and this results in a wide, spacious, almost ‘record‑ready’ sound."
Because is a binaural synth, and loved how it sounded :D
@@mindexpansionpuzzles okay makes sense. Typically the term relates to how 2 ears hear sound in 3 dimensions. A binaural audio recording is 3D. Here it means left and right channel.
Out of my price range, but an awesome synth, the Gemini trumps this but that's like saying God betters Jesus, they're almost the same thing lol.
Thx for the upload.
Thanks for watching!
It's very strange to come out with an overview video on a synth that has been out for a few years and already has so many overview videos on what does what already. A sound demo would be much more interesting.
it seem that has been strange for you mostly :D
e il WALDORF MKII QUANTUM ?? NO ??? CIAO fra!!!
disturbings insects
:o
Unfortunately it has sliders.
I love sliders :D
no one's gonna pay £2000 and up for a synth, the people on ebay need to price them lower.
