- With two rounds remaining in the 2018-19 400 Thunder Pro Slammer Championship, the protagonists for the ultimate prize in Slammer racing is once again set to be between 11 times champion, John Zappia and reigning champion, Paul Mouhayet. The Gulf Western oils Nitro Thunder at Sydney Dragway could be make or break for both, with everything to play for in this penultimate round.

I hate to be critical, but the chassis guys in Australia must not be very good. For goodness sake, they can't even get the steering column on the correct side of the car.

@@joshboyfuture9698 yeah that’s pretty much it just a bunch of screw blown pro mods unfortunately these guys are scared of being gapped by turbo and nitrous cars so there isn’t an all out pro mod class our pro mod over here is run at a 5.85 index it’s pretty unfortunate although some other events cater towards an all out promod category

Pretty close spec wise to your pro mods but blown cars only. You can look on the ANDRA website for rules

The class uses 514 cu. in. displacement (8.5 litre), mechanically supercharged V8 engines which are fueled by methanol. The minimum weight break for these vehicles is 2700 lbs (1225 kg). It is similar to the Pro Modified class as defined by the NHRA.

Don't they allow Turbos or they're too pro-roots and afraid of getting decimated?
@432M views Turbos are doorslammers too. So are prochargers and nitrous cars. The term doorslammers refers to the fact that the cars are regular bodied cars with doors you can open and close.
Lastly, any racing that doesn't allow Turbo and Procharger is kind of a joke. It's like providing a portion of the product although I guess if you want to make it all loud blowers for people to hear and have to wear hearing protection because of the zoomies, roots blowers would do it.
P.S> it is kind of interesting to see the four to eight year old blower hats some of those blowers are using. Technology go a little slower to Australia I guess?
@432M views They're all door slammers. All promod cars have doors. The only cars that aren't with doors are like funny car, top fuel or Pro Stock.
They need to be specific and say they're all Promod Roots style Supercharged cars which is what they are. You can't just say "doorslammer" and people know what car you're talking about.
It's too bad they don't allow Turbo and Procharged cars. Show some really challenging racing versus just a portion of it.
Chris Harris pro mod is a class first. Doorslammer is a class first. They have become descriptions of the cars, but you’re talking two different sanctioning bodies on 2 different continents with different terminologies. You can’t force one sanctioning body’s rules and culture on another, even if they are similar or “related”.
@@slowpoke96Z28 okay let's be honest. Door slammers is just another name for promod that the entering civilized world uses. It's just a somewhat unprofessional name for the exact same class. I mean, I could put a door on a nitro methane barfing funny car if I wanted to be funny. (Ha, see what I did there). .au needs to be different though. Classes are defined by body, power adder, cubes and track style/length by everybody BUT .au.
Honestly, to someone who watches racing down to the little kids lawnmower classes, calling your class 'door slammer" sounds unprofessional and...childish

Chris Harris yea, like their top fuel still runs a full 400 meters instead of some cheese dick 1000’. Blown vs turbo vs nitrous is stupid anyway. The rules in NHRA are proof. Concessions have to be made for class parity. Weight breaks, size limits, and so on to keep it even.
Don’t be such a nationalist that you figure everyone has to do it the way we do. Nhra’s top sportsman doesn’t. Cause there’s “pro mods” in that class too. The PDRA right here doesn’t. They have a pro boost class and a pro extreme class. Semantics really don’t matter as long as you know in your heart what the car or the class is.
