    Amazing work, Philip. Although I never do weddings, I shot one a few weeks ago with two lenses, an 85 equivalent and 35 equivalent, as I've noticed that I can do most documentary shooting and events with one, maybe two lenses. I'm tempted by the notion of a fast zoom for extra versatility, but shooting at 85 makes me creative with composition and brave with positioning. Thank you for the inspiration in all your work.

    • @philipwhiteio
      @philipwhiteio  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey, I'm glad it helped. I think it's a great approach and definitely makes you work a bit more creatively.

      @@philipwhiteio I'm interested to know how you arrived at a combination of the SL and Q. Do you ever shoot wide angle video with the Q, or is it mainly for stills? I shoot with a GH4, Voigtlander 42.5mm and 17.5mm on a monopod for events and most doc work, and this has worked for years, now. Sometimes I use a 24-70 and 70-200 equivalent on the GH4, but mostly it's 85 and 35 equivalent.

    • @philipwhiteio
      @philipwhiteio  Před 5 lety +1

      @@raksh9 It was a natural choice. I was using the Q for stills for about 2 years before I bought the SL. I still only use the Q for images however. I just doesn't cut it for video unfortunately. If they could add a LOG function it would be quite useful.

    • @raksh9
      @raksh9 Před 5 lety

      @@philipwhiteio Thank you, that makes sense. I often have the Leica M9 with me for stills, although I'm usually not asked for stills in the course of work. It's more for my enjoyment. If I need a B cam for the GH4, it's the GX85 as it uses the same sensor and can use the same lenses, and has the added benefit of stabilization and a 4k 25p output.

    Great Film Phil! Really proves that less in more and that gear can hinder creativity. In your gear list you state the TX650 for the audio but to my ear (I use the tx650’s) the audio sound better quality to me, how did you make it sound that good?

    Hi Philip. I absolutely love your craft, you have inspired me to be more minimalistic with film and it was so refreshing, especially as a beginner. Being bombarded with so many accessories is so overwhelming and this gave me some hope. You are capturing beautiful, REAL moments Mr White. Thank you for sharing.
    I'm a college student (so yes, I am budgeting) However, I am currently saving up for your masterclass and have just upgraded to a Sony a6500 with a sigma 56mm lens. Do you have any recommendations for good mics or other equipment?

    Great film Philip. I love the light and colors. Very cinematic. Also great emotion. I just have one question... You show us the bride a lot, you show us the guy that narrates(first give us the impression of him being the groom), then at the ceremony she speaks, we have her portrait, but when the groom is speaking we have no image of him, only voice. And no mood from him seeing the bride approaching! Why? Thanks. I hope i don't bother with the question!
