Yes, you will need to do some work 😀 But the rewards can be amazing if you keep this up.
You will learn to find groups of balls with minimal cue ball movement and that will increase your runout % drastically!
    15 balls
    Run out in any order
    You can't hit any cushion
    Brain training to the max!!

Great drill! The best advice since cue ball control is so difficult for many players! Neils Feijen is the most underrated top pro pool player the only one who interacts with fans on CZcams!

My friend and I tried this one for the first time yesterday. Spent about 45 minutes on it. Lots of cussing and laughing at ourselves. But then we played some eight ball and shot like FIRE! I don't break and run often in 8 ball, but I started off with one and almost got two in a row. A couple racks later, I had a start-from-scratch runout. He almost never B+Rs, but he laid down a hard-earned one (we were playing double at this point) and I almost followed that up, but caught a bad kiss on a tough draw shot for the eight.
Brain Wash is right. We were both seeing the table in a completely different way after running this drill

@@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen I shot three racks of this yesterday and then we played some 9-ball. It took me a few racks to get back into the 9-ball mentality. Do you have a particular drill that's as good for 9b as brainwash is for 8b?
I have one that's great for closing out 9b racks, but not for the full rack

Great video, Niels! I appreciate how you demonstrate your ability to adapt and rethink your patterns after getting out of line. This is a crucial skill that can significantly elevate a player's game. Beginners often fall into the trap of being fixated on their initial pattern, leading to missed opportunities

This drill is mentioned and described by Ralph Eckert in his book on Modern Pool, where he credits it to Mr. Jim Rempe. It look intimidating for a novice, but given the rules, your options are pretty limited by the traffic congestion. Technically it looks doable, as the shots are basic, but the novelty factor makes it seem tough.

You could start with fewer balls and/or just start using half of the table. Progressively add more balls as you improve and open yourself up to using the full table.

Don't aim to lower the difficulty instead aim to up your play. Don't get frustrated if you can't do it, instead count how many balls you pocket before messing up and 1 day your number will be 15 or more.
