      Sorry to hear about the lack of vacation. I have a similar issue too. Hope to at least get a week off in August.

    That certainly put me in a festive mood. We don't even have the run of Italian and Greek Festivals until late summer over in my state, and those are usually the only ones we get. I unfortunately had to miss a Portuguese festival several towns over this year, and it was the first one in two years. I know that sometimes they throw a Japanese festival in Boston, but I only went once and only found out about it by accident and didn't bring enough money with me for street foods.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore Před 2 lety

      Bummer that you didn't have the cash to buy Street food. That's the main part of a festival.

      @@RetroCore Kinda didn't know they were having street food anyway, but then again, I didn't know I'd be going. I did buy some sort of small box of cookie coated chocolate coated peanuts that had some Sentai character on it.

    Festival dedicated to Muhomatsu. A local folk hero (A.K.A. Rickshaw Man). This all I could find out about a man & festival dedicated to him as of right now.

      The sushi bar BladeRunner scene was actually filmed on the same set as the one used for Gremlins Chinatown Street and Shop Entrance in LA Warner Studios, guide told us that on our Tour there in 2019 🤠✌️

    Pulling home made contraptions through the streets and making some noise seems a pretty universal way of celebrating. The kids seemed to enjoy it :)

    I've just found your channel. I started by watching some of your oldest videos. This October, you should get your son to do a 10th anniversary re-play of Sonic CD. I'm fascinated how long you've lived in Japan for, and what you do for a living there?

      Ah, some of the old videos are terrible 😅.
      My son is 15 now so he doesn't really play games with his dad anymore. That's not cool 😢
      My job is complicated but let's just say I arrange visas, insurance, housing and so on for foreigners who teach English in Japan.

    I always love these Life in Japan videos. Shimonoseki while, a small city (small by Japanese standards), seems like a cool city. Makes me wish I would have been a bit more brave and decided to come to Japan instead of Korea. But I was worried about being placed in the middle of nowhere. Could have been a good experience though ^^. Thanks for sharing.
