During my childhood, in Kerala,all working people /helpers knew basket making from coconut palm leaves.Plucked coconuts usef to be collected in large badketd of this type.They used to he made fast on the spot.For bringing purchased items from markets( mainly fish), baskets made of coconut palm leaves called 'maskkooda' would be given by vendors.
