    There is also a tool to set the lower sprocket in the right position so the crank sensor picks up the correct reading as the lower sprocket is free wheeling as it has no keyway or position pin ( good work Ford ! )

    How about when tourquing the crank pulley down what do you use to make sure the crank doesn’t move

    Do you have to lock up the flywheel from the starter to torque the crank bolt???

  • @cristianrodriguez-romero5128

    Did you at all need to locking the crankshaft to remove that bolt? Or an impact will just take it off without needing too

    What if when I turn my crank to TDC and the timing marks are at appx 13:00 instead of 12? And then the cam locking tool isn't able to be aligned

    • @smilerdon
      @smilerdon Před 2 lety +1

      If you've turned it and the cam pullys are at 1 o clock , I recon youve turned the crank to far, turn it to 11 o clock insert your crank pin then turn the crank , your cam marking should be at 12 o clock

      Engine in car as a technician I can do in 2-3 hours. In the garage might take 8-10. Just depends on skill level and equipment

    Im working on a 2013 Ford Escape 1.6L, I get no compression in all of my cylinders, last thing to happen was the shredding of the serpentine belt before it stopped running entirely, Since this is a free spinning or non interference system, would timing just be off? Or it skipped timing. Thoughts and ideas would be very helpful, thank you.

      Does the crank turn freely, or is it seized?

    • @haileyvaughn52
      @haileyvaughn52 Před 2 lety

      Sorry I’m just now seeing this, the crank turns freely. I put a wrench or socket on it and I could move it.

    • @Pssnmeoff
      @Pssnmeoff Před 2 lety +3

      It IS an interference engine.

  • @chrismyers9951

    Missed the flywheel tool and the cam bar - not smart. Make sure you use a new bolt and a new lower sprocket and a new CV shaft bracket.

  • @ronhanish
    @ronhanish Před 4 lety +1

    as long as the cam timing marks are on the top, i shouldnt have to worry about pegging the crank?? as long as i do not turn it? im only trying to gain access to change out water pump ty.

    • @Mrbirdnerd
      @Mrbirdnerd  Před 4 lety +1

      As long as the cams do not move and the crank does not move you will be okay. If anything moves you’ll need to adjust. If crank moves just look through cyl 1 spark plug hole and make sure piston is TDC. Then make sure cam marks 12 oclock.

    • @dk2655
      @dk2655 Před 4 lety +1

      I would advise you lock crank and cams as the Cambelt needs to be removed!, we do these at work a lot on Focus and Fiesta etc...... remember Timing belt kits are a lot cheaper than a new engine.

      Use the correct tools and follow the manufacturers procedures. Shortcuts can become very expensive. If the timing is slightly off, your fuel consumption may rise.

    I have a 2017 Ford Fiesta 1.6 non-turbo. To start with I have the tool kit but my crank pully does not have a slot in the back for that tool. Ok, so cams and crank moved so now im trying to figure out how to get the cames and crank set. I turned each cam to TDC with a torq socket, installed the X tool. I then installed the pin and went clockwise with the crank bolt until it stopped. I can afford to bend a valve or mess something up so I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks
