- A really cool vintage movie trailer for "The French Line" starring Jane Russel.
It originally presented in 3-D, with the tagline "See Jane Russell in 'The French Line' - she'll knock BOTH your eyes out!"
Texas heiress Mary 'Mame' Carson strikes oil twice in one day, and her wealth scares away her fiance; so she decides to take a boat trip incognito to Paris and snare a husband using only her own abundant natural charms. To this end, she switches identities with model Myrtle Brown, and sets sail with her bosom pal Annie...and French revue star Pierre DuQuesne, who has been hired to keep a watchful eye on "Mary Carson" a perfect setup for Musical Comedy Misunderstandings.
Of interesting note Kim Novak made her film debut as a model on the stairs in this film. - Zábava
God Bless Jane Russel.
Naturally, as with most of Jane's films for Howard Hughes, there were "censorship issues" involving her "daring" costumes. But that's what movie patrons WANTED to see! Today, this is somewhat "tame"...
The French ocean liner SS Liberte, formerly the German liner SS Europa, played a supporting role for this film! 😉 France was awarded the German liner at the end of WWII as reparations for the loss of their magnificent liner, SS Normandie. (Even though Germany had no part in Normandie’s destruction. Blame the U.S. for that one). Cheers!
i want that emerald green outfit!
Which one was Kim Novak?
Gilbert Rolland e seu bigodinho desflorador.
