    Absolutely love the intro to this news program ever since hearing back in the day when I was a kid and the way the graphics slide across the screen is also unique

    the old itn studios always look more professional especially this one and one from early evening news and news at ten in 90’s

      Back in the day, ITN and BBC News were so superior than ITV News abd BBC News of today. Also all the male reporters dressed up professionally too. No open neck shirts back in the 1980's.

    Going by the Aircrash which happened on 3 September 1989, I take it this is 4th September 1989.

    They should return the ITV News to the old 5.45 slot again.

      I agree that it could move back to ITV for 15 minutes at 5:45pm. There is no other bulletin on mainstream UK channels at that time after all.

      If it ever came back, all we would need is to bring Leonard Parkin back from the dead, and bring Martyn Lewis and Michael Nicholson out of retirement. Carol Barnes bring her back from the deax
      The old ITN News st one was so much better than the current ITV lunchtime news which is on at 1.30pm nowadays. Also bring Peter Sissons back from the dead so together with Leonsrd Parkin back from the dead it would be like the good old days again.
      The old newscasters were so superior to todays.

    1:00 - Thames control room was a bit late handing over to ITN here, they crashed into the bulletin. Most regions would have had a continuity announcer and ident before the News at 5.40, Thames had a brief promo leading into the bulletin. Timing.

      Yes. And it seemed like a LIVE promo.

      It seemed to be a routine and Thames were so set in their ways of showing regional news trailers into the ITN News at 5.40. In the stories I write the Weekday Independent Commercial Television station for the Capital and Home Counties shows their on screen clock with the soundtrack and voice over for regional reports and regional news before the Early Evening National News.

      The handover was late because Andrew Gardner was still talking! And from my recollection most regions had a live trail for their 6pm regional news bulletin leading into the national ITN news at 5:40 in that era.

    Loved when ITN each had a different theme to every bulletin. This theme was ok but preferred the previous one

    "The boom in holidays at home"? Eh?

      @AntarcticaTelevision Před 3 lety

      There was an unusually excellent summer that year. Probably interest in "holidays at home" might have surged as a result of that.
