@@rookiiejack9019unfortunately that is not necessarily true. As there are cultural linguistic and historical links for Eritrea instead of Djibouti. Also the original British plan was to spilt Eritrea into two. The west going to Sudan and the central highlands and east to Ethiopia.
However from a tactical perspective maybe Djibouti was a better option. However they were under the French control. And the French were allies. So they were never going to lose their colonies. Italy was an axis power and lost their colonies. So Djibouti was never an option
This is how unjust the world is. The Eritrean people was not asked what they wanted at that time. Eritrea, then had to fight Ethiopea for thirty years and gain its independence.

@@mensreus no. Even before the colonisers Eritrea was independent and was medri Bahri (land of the seas) Only reason Ethiopia and Eritrea were together was because the US forced the UN to give Eritrea to Ethiopia for trade purposes since Eritrea was by the red sea. We are not Ethiopian!

Why blame the Eritrean heros? Haileselassie accepted Eritrea from the Little Britain who has invaded Eritrea for one decade. Befor that Italy had colonized Eritrea for fifty years. At that time, even Ethiopea was making itself up under King Minelik, who invaded small trubal kings and local leaders. This is why he is titled as king of kings (ንጉሰ ነገስ).
Back to the point, Midget King Hailesselasie came to Eritrea by solo decision for uniting thwse two countries by federation. Latter, he decided total unity of these countries. A wrong way of uniting two countries with severe consequence.
