It would be fun if you’d interview selfmade millionaires/business people (only the legit ones, not scammy people)

"Love conquer all " doesn't work in big cities, and surely not in NYC.I found the following African saying more realistic: "when poverty enters through the door, love escapes through the window".Money or the lack of it make our break couple!

So wrong physical health is easily superior to so called financial health as a little financial health goes a long way with good health! You all can keep the made up financial health as I'll keep my financial intelligence with My little health and continue to dominate the world's human existence as I'm in NYC but will go back to DC to govern Congress and the FBI!😊

After cohabitating for about five years, I don’t think I would ever want to live with the man again. We split almost 50-50 as far as bills, but I did 98% of the house work. That is not an even split and I don’t think it’s talked about enough. And I also paid the bills, making sure they were timely, did all of the grocery shopping, they’re all of the household item shopping, cook dinner. Not 1 bill was in his name bc he moved from his mothers house at 30 something into my established house. I did not think it would bother me as much bc I already did it before living with him, but it really bothered me to be cleaning up after another additional person.

Liked this video. I think perhaps... just maybe finances should be discussed earlier in the relationship rather than later. How someone handles their finances can also reveal some personal traits that that person has. Money is not everything but it should definitely be discussed.

Great topic and great responses! I’m a LOT older than the people in this video so what I think is important in a partner/and relationship may be different. For me, emotional stability(and emotional intelligence) is TOP, then… is this person able to support themselves, then if they have kids…are they in their kids lives because you’d be surprised 40+ year olds who have no contact with their kids who are under 18! It’s a huge deal breaker for me (even though I’m not even a parent).
Emotional stability is top for me…in my age group there shouldn’t be these severe mommy and daddy issues, aggressiveness, etc and you haven’t even gone to work on those issues at 40+ years old… Talk therapy, whatever therapy should be a thing when you have childhood trauma because when you don’t deal with it, it shows up in ALL of your relationships: personal, parental, work, etc (I’ve seen it all in play out with people unfortunately)…So yes, I can’t be with someone who hasn’t worked on their traumas on a serious level.

Student loans is the worst type of debt to have 1. You can’t get it discharged in bankruptcy 2. It’s much harder to pay off student loans versus credit card debt, the fact that student loan debt is normalized in this country is crazy.

Why was there almost no outright acknowledgement that living in abundance a) isn’t a reality for everyone or that b) there is no guarantee of continued financial stability? There seems to be a prevailing assumption that there won’t ever be financial adversity or that your partner’s finances could negativity affect you down the line? People seem out of touch with reality and only want to sound positive/cute.

That’s so interesting I do believe it can be a problem in the future in terms of lifestyle but if yourself make enough to supplement their income, like one woman said, then I guess it’s fine(if you are willing to do so). It’s probably down to what are your values 😊

  • @zucchinigreen

I think it's important to note that debt is part of life. Having a partner with debt isn't a red flag.
Having a partner who's avoiding managing said debt is. Money hygiene reflects a lot and can affect the relationship beyond just the financial.
It's definitely healthy to have these talks upfront and be honest with your partner vs making assumptions.
I was once with a guy who wanted to spoil me and buy everything for me. He insisted he wanted to do things the "traditional way", but secretly he was resentful and took it out on me in other ways.
Looking back that could have been avoided with more realistic vs romantic discussions.
