I'm surprised that this movie didn't get all of the recognition that it deserved. It's the best one of its type that I've ever seen. Hard-hearted Roman Tribune has his heart turned into mush.

Joseph Fiennes did a great job in the movie and the soundtrack left me not wanting to hear anything but it the rest of the evening. The movie is so good that it actually brought me to tears. Great job!!!

Joseph Fiennes and Cliff Curtis are masterful in this movie. Curtis' divinity and goodness brought me to tears, and Fiennes' transformation speaks to us all. I am awed by God's grace and mercy to accept us all.

I will never forget the scene in this movie where he opens the door, looks around the room, and sees the face of Jesus looking right at him, through him. One of the few movie scenes that really left me thinking long after I had finished the movie.

Excellent movie, gives you the view from a Roman soldiers side. When I thi k of what I did to Jesus it makes me very sad. I know he just wants me to accept his gift and I have. Happy Easter everyone he has risen.

Awesome soundtrack! The movie is so moving in so many ways. It speaks to the decision we all must make, do we accept the gospel or the rhetoric of those in denial. Can you risk your eternal salvation/destination on the thought that God doesn't exist? Remember, there are no atheists in hell.

I really loved this movie. I went to see it yesterday and it touched my heart deeply. Joseph Finnes was absolutely incredible.
The story is very original and reminds me of Ben Hur in many ways.
The music is also a fantastic part of the thing.
There are however few mistakes bothering me, but it is not that important considering the beauty of the story. I long to get the DVD...

What's sad, is that the hearts of many, remained unshaken after watching this movie because they took the story of Jesus Christ and the reality of His resurrection and made it seem as a fairy tale in their minds. Why? Because the elite of this fallen world made sure that people will deny the truth hidden in plain sight and right under their nose, since it is introduced under a fictitious form through movies, animations and other medias. As it was in the days of Noah so shall it be in the coming of the son of man. People can't make the difference between good and evil anymore. There's no black and white anymore, but only...50 shades of grey.

You may be partially correct but not totally. Sometimes, if done right, a movie can change you. The Passion of the Christ did for me. Made me understand the meaning of the broken body of Christ and I felt humbled. I meant to have a stronger faith and live a better life. I try to help those in need as I have been helped and to see things more through His eyes, if that's possible. I think the objective is to be more like Him in the everyday life so we can make a difference in spite of the "elite of this fallen world" as you so aptly describe them. When the intention is to move generations of people to a more spiritual existence instead of being consumed by possessions and physical pleasures of this world then I think it is a worthy endeavor.
Risen also inspires me to strive toward a better understanding of God's love and the reason we are here.
I understand your point Levi, and I echo it in many ways. Yet the film is told from the point of view of the pagan, the Roman. It is his journey, and in the end he turns away from his past to journey into his new unknown life, a life forever changed by the man he got to know who ascended before his eyes. One can only speculate how his future life would be, but as he expressed in his conversation with Yeshua, he was tired of a life consumed by death. The Roman was changed. That's the material point of the film, turning from a culture of death, to one of eternal life as seen through the Roman's eyes.

Roque Baños is one of the greatest film composers of our time. As for the film, it's actually a remake of Damiani's "L'Inchiesta" ("The Inquiry") from 1986.
