V103 hosted Soul Sessions with Brandy & Monica LIVE at W Hotel Atlanta. Here, Monica & Brandy performs "The Boy Is Mine" for ONLY their second time LIVE and my camera was there to eat it UP! The show was excellent from start to finish. Oh, YES that's T.I. and Tiny rockin' it out in the front row (2:32).
Their voices have really matured since the first time they sang this song together.
I liked their voices better singing this song back when they first Saaang the song together 😃. I still watch the video and I am 68 yrs.old. love Brandy and Monica 💐💐💐🌹🌹🌹

Just listen to 2:00, Monica's tone, in the right placement, is SUBLIME. She needs to understand her natural tone is so full and strong that it shines on it's own, she doesnt need to be dragging those heavy chords to belt out long, higher notes with vibrato - she loses that tone when she does it. But when she's just singing, straight and plain, her voice is wonderful.

Belting long notes and covering songs from others isn't really indicative of a singer's skill. The fact that Brandy isn't always belting & hitting high notes is because she uses dynamic variation in her singing. She approaches each song differently, which is why you can hear different tones/textures to her voice. Her musical ear also gives her an advantage to readily adapt to a key change. All nuances are explored with her voice, and she diplays the dynamics of a powerhouse when SHE wants to.
there’s definitely a bias. Monica inspired sooo many. She was the first One I heard with all that soul so young! I’m talking 12 yrs old. She the Bible. Y’all tweakin. I liked both but brandy matched kiddy voices more and was Cinderella, so I liked her more as a child not knowing what’s really happening. But yea, So cute 🥰

The girls have grown up! I can't believe they've grown into two such beautifully young women! I remember listening to them both as a little girl during my childhood in the '90s! I loved Brandy and Monica. I had both of their albums in the '90s come but I was more of a Brandy girl. I loved her in Cinderella. I had a Brandy video of all her music videos and of course her performance in Cinderella. I didn't listen to her for that long, I moved on to oldies after that, but every now and then I remember one of Brandy's songs. I wanted my childhood crush, Michael Jackson to sing a duet with her and Monica; they both were influenced by him and they both met him! He could have come in to their direct, saying, " hey ladies, wait for me!" P and then he'd start singing to too! LOL!
