    Thank you. After watching your video and following your recommendations I was able to locate my part for my electric recliner which was purchased at Ashley's Furniture Store. My warranty had expired and my love seat was discontinued.
    Ashley Furniture manufacture their own furniture. I called their toll free number and spoke with their customer service and was able to order the mechanical mechanism for my discontinued love seat. I was amazed how inexpensive the part was compared to what re-sellers were charging on the internet.

    Found your page. Very informative. Been searching for a wand replacement for an electric recliner I've had for a year with no luck. Looks like I'll have to buy a new chair. Thanks for the information.

    I needed the small plastic recliner release handle for my 5 year-old La-Z-Boy. I went online to the La-z-boy site with all my info trying to order that handle (shown at 9:30 mark) and it just referring me back to call/visit a local store to place an order. So I went to a local store with the broken part and they just handed me a whole new one, cable included and said it was no charge, Lifetime Warranty. I almost spent $29 plus shipping for one on ebay.

    Great presentation! Could you tell me where I can find a up/down switch for my recliner, its stuck in the up position. I purchased it 6 years ago at RCWilley but since the warrantee has run out they won’t sell me the part or perform the service. The chair brand is “cheers” which is owned by the Manwha company in China.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your thorough and detailed videos! Can't find a solution to some older costco power recliner chairs that have power but when the button is pushed it reclines only part way and stops. Push the button again and it reclines slightly more. Push the button again and it reclines more. To get it to recline fully, it takes 12-14 button pushes. Seems like getting it back to non-reclining position is easier (doesn't need as many multiple button pushes) than getting it to recline. So, I know it has power. Any suggestions? thanks! Trio of chairs is no longer under warranty.

      @Dr. Jeffrey Nelson - Could be a a number of things, including a bent mechanism that's causing the lift motor to struggle, a failing motor that's no longer putting out enough force, an electrical issue, etc.

    Hi, you have been a godsend. I lost this thin round piece that goes on the end of the bolt thingy on the ratchet a pawl doohickey, problem is I don't know what it's called and I don't see it in the replacement parts. Can you tell me the name? Is it a special part or can you get one at a hardware store? Can't say enough on what an excellent teacher you are. Thank you.

    If you need a new motor for your chair what part of the tag, pertinent info, tells you what to look for to get a replacement motor if you cannot get it from the company ?

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  Před 2 lety

      @JB Kell - It's usually best to start with the furniture maker (or one of their dealers). If your original motor is no longer available, they may be able to recommend a replacement that will match up and do the job.
      If they don't have anything for you, you can always try contacting the company who makes the motor. Check the motor itself for manufacturer info (sticker, etc.) and look up the company online. Admittedly, this last step is often a long-shot. But it's often the only option when the manufacturer is no help, or has gone out of business.

    I was told by La z Boy that they no longer make parts for my chairs. Any suggestions? They are the power assist chairs I believe, with heat. One controller plastic toggle broken, one chair does nothing the other will go up and down to floor but not recline.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  Před 3 lety

      @Leana Foss - When parts are no longer available, repair options are few. However, if you've managed to pinpoint the problem, you can try a couple of things.
      For example, if the hand control is bad, look for a manufacturer sticker on the hand control. Contact the manufacturer (of the part) to see if the part might still be available thru them, or if perhaps they make a new version that is compatible with yours.
      Another try is to find someone that repairs electrical / electronic parts to see if the original part can be repaired.

    do you have a list of parts that a person would need if they wanted to build a chair? i can find parts but i need to know what to look for? do the parts have names? what do you look for?

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  Před 2 lety

      @charles klein - Reclining mechanism parts are typically installed in chairs that are designed specifically for those parts. So for example, if you're building a La-z-boy style chair, the seat & back frames should be similar to that company's design in order to ensure the mechanism parts work properly.
      Yes, the parts do have names, but it varies by company (manufacturer) as to the names of those parts. You can request a mechanism sketch from some companies. These sketches show part names & numbers.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  Před 4 lety

      @Tracy Caton - It's not unusual for some older parts to no longer be available. But if by "seat spring assembly" you're referring to the Seat Springs, I've had good luck getting those for older La-z-boys.
      If the part you need is not a standard zig-zig seat spring, email a photo to me and I'll try to help. pete@reclinerrepairguy.com
      If it is a standard spring, you can get those from online suppliers or a local upholstering shop. Note: A local shop can cut your springs to length for you, while a supplier will send you a roll and you'll have to cut them yourself.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  Před 2 lety

      @Shannon Schell - Always start a furniture part search by contacting the manufacturer or one of their dealers. If the part is no longer available, you'll have to try the used markets, like ebay.
      Also, there used to be a few websites dedicated to selling electrical parts for various brands of lift chairs & power recliners. You can try searching those sellers as well.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  Před 3 lety +1

      @Albert Henry - If you haven't already, contact the furniture manufacturer or one of their dealers for parts. That's option #1. Option #2, Contact the maker of the remote, if the part maker's sticker is on the back. If the part is old and no longer being made, option #3 is to look for a used one on ebay. Or try to find a dealer or repair tech that might have an old in stock.

      Great presentation! My recliner is stuck at the fully extended position. I’m fairly sure it’s in the up/down switch. I purchased it from RC Wiley about 6 years ago. It was built by the Cheers furniture Co in China which is owned by the Manwha company in China. Can you tell me where I might be able to find parts for this chair, RC Wiley will have nothing to do with me because it’s past the warrantee period, even though I keep telling them I’ll pay for the part and/or the service.

    Good Video. I can not get in touch with Jackson Catnapper. I emailed them and seems like a bot is answering my email. I send them the pictures of the control module and the tags. I called both numbers on the web and its a circle. Can't leave a message. Do you know of any way to get in touch. Thanks.

    • @reclinerrepairguy4155
      @reclinerrepairguy4155  Před měsícem

      @flyknot1072 - I don't recall ever ordering from that company, so I don't have any specific advice for you. However, it's common practice in the furniture industry for companies to provide poor service (or no service). Don't give up!
      If the furniture store where you purchased it is still open (or a local Jackson dealer), try going there. Talk to someone in person. If they are not interested in helping you, try saying something like this: "When I bought the furniture, I was told it had a warranty, which included replacement parts coverage. But now that I need to order those parts, I can't get through to the manufacturer. And you -- their sales agent & dealer -- are not interested in helping me either. So, this warranty thing is all a scam, right? I guess I'll have to report this to the state attorney general's office."
      Hopefully you'll get some cooperation & won't need to shame them into doing their jobs. But hey, you never know how it will go. ;) Good luck!
