Put yourself in the position of the early hunter gatherers - they knew that EVERY single day that they would have to go out and hunt food for the group - BUT, while they were hunting the animals THEY themselves were being stalked by lions/tigers/leopards/cheetahs/bears/wolves/hyenas/wild dogs/jackals/large snakes and ANYTHING else that fancied their chances - ALL this, while hunting a wild animal that could at any moment turn and run straight at you out of panic or anger. My GF is not a guitarist. I am. I used to be a professional hired gun and session musician who was lucky to travel this world playing with some wildly popular singers and artists. I'm not anymore and own a business now that is in a completely different field. She knows nothing about all the little details that go into some of these things. I just had one built for me with the exact specs that I wanted. Electronics. wiring. Even down to a custom colored sparkly emerald green. She knows nothing about it, but loves watching me play them and just enjoys music. She has no interest in learning and that is fine. She just likes seeing the pretty guitars and hearing me play. I know nothing about her very specific baking things. The little details of them. That is fine with her. I just enjoy the food. We found mutual love of different things though. Specifically Pokemon and traveling. We both feel very comfortable being on the move and for the most part both work remotely and are very nomadic unless we go home to check on stuff or in my case to switch out a guitar for the next part of traveling. I run my entire business remotely and her job is flexible. So we alternate a lot between the US and Japan where she's originally from. You find things that you can bond over in life, but you do not have to have the same exact interests as someone. Having yoru own interests is actually healthy because it means you can spend time together as well as on your own and still be happy with each other

Give things chances, but never give disrespect. If you’re gonna hate your partner’s hobbies, you’ll build resentment, and that will lead to someone going too far.
