As a Greek i partly aprove! Next time instead of plain Feta put this in:
1 piece of garlic
50g olive oil
half a small chilli pepper
half a teaspoon chili flakes (?) (i dont know how its called, basically dried chilli seeds)
400g feta
200g yoghurt
In a blender put , garlic, chilli flakes, and finely chopped chilli pepper, and hit till blended,
in a bowl break in realy small pieces the feta, put the yoghurt and the mix in and mix with a spoon
Its realy my favourite and goes well with tzatziki

@@paccbutler1826 Typically, it's pork in Greece, and it's not minced, just thin slices stacked and grilled vertically on indirect heat. It used to be lamb when gyros was first introduced, but it fell out of favor to pork. Lamb is mostly used in other types of barbecue nowadays, like whole lamb spit, boneless ribs, a scaled up version of souvlaki called kontosouvli etc.

You needed some pickled veggies in those Gyros! My local greek restaurant makes marinated cucumbers (not completely pickled), and they go great with this sandwich. I think they over-night marinade sliced cucumbers in olive oil, white wine vinegar, sliced white onions, and chopped dill. They are amazing.

As a Greek who has travelled around the world and tasted lots of dishes I AGREE. Add some ketchup and fried potatoes and you eat like a proper Greek hehe.

Hi. I am greek, I eat souvlaki all the time and I make it at home too, and I can say for sure that in souvlaki you don't put feta🤣😁. It contains fries instead of feta and it's much better you should try. But your try is really good!👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
There used to be a souvlaki grill in my town that added feta and green bell pepper in their "special", similar to horiatiki plus fries and kalamaki in a souvlaki.

Quang, you should oil your bowl before adding your kneaded dough into it. It stops it from sticking to the bowl when you try and scoop it out!
Oven will dry out naturally the meat . My method is make the meat mixure use food processor to mix until looks like a paste also add breadcrumbs plain into processor with them... put in pan and freeze it .....Once frozen take out of pan cut into slices thin for pita sandwich or thick for over rice.platters I cut to 1/2 inchish slices am put then on a pan or a flat griddle brown on both sides and then chop like they do in the carts use burger press if you.got it squirt little white sauce while cooking or some oil to keep nice and delishious also to make more homogeneous mix the big brands use binders and powered soy protien concentrate. That's why there gyros come out perfect slices and are so tightly packed . If you can get your hands on cavandars Greek seasoning that's all u need .....

Hi Quang, I was wondering if you could like put a price range of all the ingredients before each video, and like how much it would cost to make the set meal vs outside price. Or just do that in general because I think it like gives people like me and those who watch it but are reluctant to make it feel like they can do it. I think it'll be awesome anyways to make a series about beating outside restaurant dishes with your own for less money.
For the amount of seasoning that goes into these dishes, if you don't already have them, it'll be expensive. This dish easily costs you 25 bucks for the amount that he used, but the amount of food that he made can feed 5+ people.
3 pounds of meat at around $6 per pound, then you add fresh dill, tomatoes, yogurt, cucumbers, lemon, mint, sour cream (these are the ingredients I assume you will need to buy just for this dish). This will cost you around $25.
If you have to buy the spices, it'll obviously seem more costly, but remember spices last longer so don't factor that into your costs as much.

tried this recipe out, ended up a bit dry but overall great! (Think I cooked it a bit longer)
Used store bought Naan and after rehydrating it it was very good. but anticipate it being better with home made naan.
Pro tip for those who use store bought naan. drizzle your naan with water and just a little bit of your cooking oil OR a small pat of butter and heat in the microwave for 20-30 seconds helps make those crumbly store bought naan WAY better.

As a greek person,I can confirm this is NOT how tzatziki is made. Tbh i dont even know wtf it tastes like the way he made it. And the gyros,im pretty sure its not made this way. The real tzatziki recipe is:
1 1/2 of greek yogurt (the portion differs depending on how much you want to make)
2 cloves of grated garlic
Half cucumber grated (grate it in a seperate plate and once you're done,drain the liquids with your hands,just squeeze it so the juice is gone)
1 tablespoon of white vinegar
1 tablespoon of olive oil
A pinch of salt
A pinch on black pepper
The more you let it rest in the fridge,the better it'll taste when you eat it. But it doesnt really matter. Enjoy!

Blitz the meat and seasonings in a food processor until it is a fine paste. Do it in 2 or 3 smaller batches so it doesn't creep up the inside of the blade attachment. That will GREATLY improve the texture. You should also NOT slice into the meat while it is still warm. Instead, bake it the day or evening before. Baste it in its own juices. If you're like me, you add rosemary sprigs in the sides of the loaf pan as soon as you see the meat contract from the sides of the pan... this will infuse the fat+juice with a bit of rosemary flavor. Let it cool to room temp, cover with foil in the same loaf pan, then stick it in the fridge. The next day, remove from the fridge and skim off the fat (reserve it or toss it away) as it can be very cloying. For the juices at the bottom, it's up to you if you want to reserve it for use in a different recipe or if you want to use it when you pan-fry the slices. So now, while the meat is still cold, you can cut it in thin slices a bit easier. But me, I prefer cuts that are a bit like thick-cut french fries... or as thick as a Sharpie (not the Marksalot permanent marker). For the Tzatziki sauce, since everything is being pureed, I just puree the WHOLE cucumber, but I also add a whole garlic clove because I want a super smooth sauce that has no chunks of garlic at the end (but trust me, the garlic flavor will still be there), only then will I press it in the cheese cloth..... but I reserve the cucumber-garlic juice as a type of 'thinner' for the sauce (if needed; otherwise, I just drink the juice with vodka as a "health-shot"). I don't use sour cream in the Tzatziki, but I do use lemon juice. Lastly I add fresh dill (mint.... not usually).
Bonus: To clean the blade of the food processor, stick it in a large (large enough) pot of boiling water with vinegar...... as soon as you place the blade in, turn off the heat (so you don't melt the plastic). This will kill any bacteria and also cook the bits of beef+lamb that have stuck into the blade attachment. You can then easily remove it with a long bamboo skewer or chopstick. To clean the food processor container, take paper towels and WIPE THE FAT off...... don't melt it in hot water and soap and pour down the drain....... that stuff will collect solidify further down the pipes and clog it, because hot water eventually cools down, further in the pipes before it gets to the sewer.

As a greek person, I think I'd put the tzatziki or your preferred sauce under the gyro, on the pita. Also, I think I'd cut the gyro into smaller pieces, so it chars up better!

Try using some baking paper to hold the wrap together, gyro grills do it all the time so people don't have to hold the wrap horizontaly.
