For me the two strongest pieces of evidence that you presented were the curse mark working very similarly to the karma mark and the fact that grafting orochimaru's DNA onto Kabuto eventually lead to Orochimaru's consciousness influencing or taking over Kabuto.
Maybe it had to do with his strong will to survive and live forever, but there has been other times where DNA from one person was grafted onto another with no emergence of anther consciousness. Which kinda points a finger towards the fact that there is something unique about Orochimaru's DNA/ heritage. 🤔
Or possibly, he got taught by an otsutsuki or found a relic from an otsutsuki.

But now that the Kaguya plot has become the central focus of the series since the end of shippuden, I think it's shifted to one of those 3 options. Or at the very least, is ripe opportunity for new lore that makes the case.

I think Orochimarus goal never changed (knowledge of "all") . His immortality-shenanigans were needed to have enough time,but with the new jutsutype on the table he needs otsutsukification and thats why he went with the mitsuki-road.

Well people are forgetting that he is practically otsutsuki and he mentions this sort of when fighting victor, he says he has perfected his immortal body and literally heals in an instant from getting his arm blown off faster and better than victors. He most definitely used zetsus body who is either deemed as an otsutsuki or what I think is a karma manifested as a being by kaguya. He might have powers to then manipulate karma seals. The point is your right though, and supposedly he’s been hard at work whenever we see him in boruto, doing what??? Also he seems unfazed by everything that’s been happening which tells me he knows a lot more than we do and posses power likely beyond naruto and sasuke at this point. He participates in the victor charade briefly then mentions oh an incomplete divine tree and destroys his assistant without even moving. I also don’t think Mitsuki is his only trump, he’s definitely made himself capable or will use mitsuki in the future for his own personal gain. He’s never been good, his goals literally align with the otsutsuki. He’s to me on the same quest as all to reach shibais godhood.

orochimaru may just be from the land of eddies..his knowledge of their imperfected karma seal and other jutsu are far to extensive to ignore. Him having karin around isnt a coincidence either. He may be playing the end game to transcend into godhood OR may just be the one to save the world in the end
Man just the idea sounds so cool, hopefully Orochimaru gets some screen time so this doesn't feel like a Zetsu moment if it actually happens
These are great theories but mitskui was affected by eida ability, so with him being a clone of orichmaru wouldn’t he be affected too hinting at the fact that he isn’t related to shibai.
Orochimaru finally transcending the mortal plane to sit on the throne of god that keeps an eye on humanity seems strangely fitting.
What if it's an Aizen moment
Orochimaru is the OG Otsutsuki. Everything they do and have already done is what the Otsutsuki strive to currently do. Both Orochimaru and the Otsutsuki clan (the alien one) have the same main goal, which is to acquire ultimate knowledge and power and both recognise to achieve that you first need immortality. Their methods of immortality is done the exact same way by finding a specfic perfect host, apply a curse mark, then that mark gives the host insane power amps and a new appearance but all this power is a mere side effect to the real goal being a "checkpoint" to revive Orochimaru/Otsutsuki. Whenever Orochimaru or an Otsutsuki die... THEY DON'T. They cheat death. They cheat the people close to them all to achieve their ultimate goal of divine knowledge and power. They both have their own cults and have people who worship them despite their obvious villainy because Orochimaru/Otsutsuki lure their followers with near impossible promises that only gods can do (e.g. bring back the dead or bless you with ultimate power) and these promises are things that Orochimaru/Otsutsuki can actually successfully do.
Orochimaru has been there and done it all before. I always thought it was strange how the Boruto story is copy and pasting Orochimaru's character narrative onto the Otsutsuki, but calling Orochimaru an Otsutsuki is something that fits far too well. Orochimaru eventually became chill and good so maybe the current evil Otsutsuki will eventually copy and become good guys. Orochimaru knows a whole lot more about the Otsutsuki. The Boruto story likes to ignore the original characters in favour of the new ones but Orochimaru and Mitsuki are important characters, which means Orochimaru has an important role to play.

The fact that both the curse mark seal for Orochimaru and black zetsu for Kaguya work in a simillar manner to karma for the Otsusuki is interesting, Kishimoto already planted multiple hints about it very early in the story.
I really hope Orochimaru hits back with something like this in the series. He was always my favorite villain, and still has those obscure motives.

Another theory is that Orochimaru could have been an early prototype by Kishimoto testing out the themes and characteristics of the ootutuskukis he would eventually reveal literally at the end of the series
I dont think that is the truth, mainly because i think the otsutsuki were introduced to extend the life of the series for money by shonen jump which pushed kishimoto to extend the series and he added the otsutsuki so that boruto can be made and make more money,

But then his editors suggested creating a different villain for them to defeat. The reason he didn’t kill either naruto or sasuke is because he thinks that the show/anime/manga mainly focuses on their friendship.

1. Orichimaro said that he was on Sasuke's side and wanted to see his path. However what happens if Sasuke dies does Orochi go back to his old ways. 2. Was Orochi making Mitzsuki clones in attempt to make an Otsutsuki vessel for himself so he can eat a chakra fruit? Orochi mentions all the studies he did on divine tree when fighting Victor and that humans can't eat the fruit.

I had a theory that mitsuki was a clone of orochimaru with some of toneri's dna, which explained why his snake sage mode and his appearance is so simmilar to Toneri.
Then that would also make mitsuki an otsutsuki. But he was affected by eida's charm which kind of proves that he does not have toneri's dna.
But the thing is what if mitsuki getting affected by eida's charm is an act. What if Orochimaru told mitsuki to act as if he's getting affected by eida's charm.
What really adds up to the theory is that eida's charm is not a shinjutsu and it was confirmed by Momoshiki and sarada and the class rep were not affected by it in chapter 76.

Orochimaru met itachi, lost to him, met kimimaro and thought he was in some way comparable as a vessel to itachi.

This theory makes so much sense! The fact that Orochimaru has this obsession over visual jutsus and you can’t just “kill” him under normal means all points towards him being part Otsutsuki. I feel like he is a 2nd or 3rd descendant of the Otsutsuki that bred with snake sages. All we know about Orochimaru’s childhood is that he’s an orphan. His parents and lineage were never explained…He doesn’t even have a last name either…👀👀👀

Also Orochimaru for sure has sage in his DNA,because Kabuto only take a piece of Orochimaru’s body and was able to use sage mode in his fight with Itachi and Sasuke. He even grew a horn. Which begs the question, is the most powerful lost otsutsuki clan a clan based on dragons, because they usually say the snakes and dragons are related.

I'd always thought that Orochimaru just never needed to switch bodies after he took over Zetsu since the Zetsu don't need to eat or anything like that

One of them betrayed the other and through events "Maru needed to hide and in an emergency took over a child's body where through the way he took over or due to incomparability, lost his memories. Using the glasses you mentioned 'Maru will steal the Senrigan and do to his true age, will be able to see his whole past and regain his memories/powers and become the BBEG. In this version, the names on the stone wall are destroyed to help "Maru hide from others of his family. and being killed.

Yo I freaking love this theory. Oro has always been one of my favorites and seeing how he has survived up til this point I feel Oro is meant to serve a much bigger purpose. Whether it be him becoming like a main villain again, or him playing a huge whole in fighting all the big baddies. I for real think something big is coming involving him.

He's just dope, and like you said HIS VOICE. I still think he's the best, or at least my favorite, villain the entire series has had. All I know is one of my favorite parts of Boruto was during that arc when they were fighting Deepa and Victor and Orochimaru made his big appearance. He just fucking vaporized that one chick in a fraction of a second 😂😂😍That was the most hype shit ever! I love that dude. If Kishimoto doesn't utilize Orochimaru in a big way in the future of the Boruto series I will be very disappointed and it would be a huge waste of potential. To the producers: no matter what, just show Orochimaru more, but definitely better if he's the villain. And not just *any* villain, but the main one again, as no one else can even come close to his dark snake charm. He's actually my all-time favourite animated character and it's great to see other people also getting excited about him🐍
My theory is that he wanted to punish that random character for stealing his signature move (the kunai-licking) and not doing it properly, haha. Also, you calling him "Oro" makes me smile, as that's how my Naruto-fan friend also calls him. We even used to play Naruto characters in middle school (at that time me being terrified of Orochimaru, but also deeply fascinated and somehow attracted to him:).
Orochimaru was and still is obsessed with Justus, even stealing ancient scrolls from heavily guarded places, planning ambushes and even kidnapping and committing murders trying to practice such Justus. Since Otsutsuki have such a long and intertwined past in Naruto's world's history, I find it more than feasible that Orochimaru learned about and based a good deal of his Jutsu from Otsutsuki in some fashion. Even if he himself didn't know it specifically, we all know Orochi just reading about some of Otsutsuki feats and descriptions would get homie more bricked up than Jiraiya spying on Tsunade in an onsen.
I honestly believe Orochimaru is like Jugo, someone born with Senjutsu/ sage chakra. It explains his snake affinity and his innate power/skill aparent from childhood.
To add to your theory we see Hashirama's dna being grafted onto people but his consciousness doesn't try to take over their body and neither do his cells. They do have to suppress his DNA or it will erupt like a tree and they'll lose it, but taking over someone's body is unique to Orochimaru and Otsosuki's, so there must be some reason why their dna behaves differently than everyone else's when put in the same situation.
there are two simple reasons for the. 1, Hashirama isn't a douchebag, trying to take over other peoples bodies. 2, kabuto isn't walking around half orochimaru... meaning orochimaru didn't take over his body, kabuto was a hypochondriac who wanted to grow up and be orochimaru, he needed lithium not an exorcism.
Also the fact that, just like Karma, when someone runs out of chakra, both Orochimaru and Momoshiki could take over Sasuke in Shippuden and Boruto in well Boruto
Ok there was a great theory pulled from all of this that basically explains the earths story and otsutsuki.
He brought up the two missing otsutsuki symbols and this has always peaked my interest. Here’s what I think it means in fuller detail.
Shibai was on his conquest to keep ravaging planets for fruit, he eventually comes to earth and either performs the same or had a different realization to obtain the power he sought the only reason I say this is because our planet wasn’t destroyed, his partner who was supposed to be sacrificed if he had one or possibly it could still be that it was a solo mission since he didn’t want anyone in his way and he sacrificed himself to cultivate a new essence of being that the other otsutsuki aren’t aware is possible but let’s just say he did have a partner maybe that lineage again could be tied to orochimaru though honestly I think orochimaru is just a mutation and nothing else but now he is somewhat otsutsuki given that he stole zetsus body so that will definitely come up later in the future. Let’s get back on track, isshiki has been focusing on following shibais instructions for so long to become the ultimate otsutsuki that he finally finds his last known location Earth and he attempts what the divine tree but we know what happens kaguya desires to be free from her clan or either achieve godhood as well in the same way shibai has and steal the fruit basically both knew that earth was special even in this time period before chakra flowed through humans. Remember shibais body was likely found on earth like he said otherwise how would Amado be able to get his hands on it and yes I reasoned like you are propably right now well jigen could have found his body in a different space time and had him retrieve it but I find that highly unlikely since ishhiki is always attempting to gain power and he would use it for his own advantage and that’s not possible because amado had made eida and daemon in secret because they would be stronger than him. I kept thinking about what kaguya said in naruto, that she would protect this planet, she had her own dimensions and planets yet she valued earth so very much that she was willing to sacrifice everything else for it. That tells me that the most likely reason for this is that she was trying to achieve what shibai had after isshikis motivation and to revolt against her clan. I think the reason the stone tablets are destroyed of the previous otsutsuki is because shibai was covering his tracks, he doesn’t want anyone else possessing his power and he has clearly shown disdain for his clan given that he has not helped them in any way or form to accomplish the same which is their like whole life’s mission. He is revered by them now at this point as a myth and legend and it’s interesting that this has happened to along ago because that what the stone tablet time frame makes note of and when we do meet him I believe while he is or was selfish he is for the most part nuetral and good. He’s beyond the ideals and values of his clan. My theory is he is the reason for life on earth as well maybe he’s the reason earth is special and had sage energy running through it, the timing makes sense and earth had taken so long to find by the other otsutsuki because he had been hiding it. I believe earths space curvature was abnormal even before the events of kaguya. Lmk what you think of my theory
Btw I believe Ishhiki had spoken to Amado about him which is why in the latest chapter amado somehow knows a lot about his history. It literally makes sense that ishhiki has been following in his footsteps as well as telling code farewell with a representation of his idol shibai with all of those pure eyes to become a god. He found the planet shibai was last on but couldn’t find his body but supposed that performing the divine tree would give him the same power which is why I think shibai did something different on earth to get it because we saw the result of what eating it looked like and kaguya didn’t transform beyond a physical state thought at that point shibai had eaten likely many fruits. I still think he did something different on earth. Anyways, Amado finds his body, and keeps it sercret as well as manipulating his cells to create eida and daemon who were again made in secret. So yea it all makes sense now. My only question is how shibais body was preserved, like how?? His body has been dead for thousands and thousands of years how is that possible and how would it be possible to detect? Was it preserved in a shrine or sacrifice from old? I need more information on how his body was discovered.

Remember the time when we first heard about the Kara organization, we saw a scroll with a few different markings and later found out one of them was kawaki's karma designs. My theory is that some of the other designs are a clue to the two unknown otsutsuki cause a Karma has the design of its otsutsuki's horn( look at kawaki's shoulder when activates his karma and then compare it to isshiki's head. )
I think he's trying to perfect Otsutsuki cloning so that he can sacrifice them over and over to achieve Otsutsuki godhood without the usual process.
What if the Infinite Tsukuyomi was the best best-case scenario for Orochimaru? His main goal is to learn every ninjutsu. In most situations where we've seen the Infinite Tsukuyomi used those trapped in it see their "perfect scenario" in a dream-like state. Afterward, those trapped in the dream-like state can remember what happened as if it were a memory and long periods can pass by in seconds. What if he achieved his dream while trapped in the Infinite Tsukuyomi? Could he learn about lost Jutsu? Would he retain the information? What do you think?
having a dream that you studied isn't going to help you pass that test. A dream where he learns fake jutsu's in his own imagination is the antithesis of learning everything.
I'd like to also point out that Orochimaru's Curse Seal of Heaven looks quite similar to a 3 tomoe Sharingan
I always questioned why Curse Seal of Heaven looked like a 3 tomoe since it was his strongest seal which you could make the arguement that "oh it was because he was trying to get an uchiha as a vessel to learn further about the sharingan" but then it would be a bit confusing on why he gave the Curse Seal of Heaven to Anko. It could just be that its a coincidence that it looks like a 3 tomoe sharingan and the Curse Seal of Heaven was just the first iteration of his many curse marks.Thats my theory though ._.
@@Jolt211 it's likely due to the fact they both involve a similar phrase. So it represents "heaven" or something. Similar to the way handsigns used to be similar to each other if the Justus themselves where similar.
This all makes way too much sense. The color of the skin, everything you said about Mitsuki, like even the logic behind why mixed with Orochimaru's personality it all just makes so much sense. Maybe Orochimaru grafted skin from Shibai or Toneri, or maybe after Shibai transcended himself he left Orochimaru in his place kind of like a more advanced Karma mark. I mean after he's transcended he would definitely be able to create a much more advanced version of the karma mark. Either way I absolutely love this, and I think it would be awesome to see Kishimoto use these ideas in the future
This could also be why orochimaru wanted kimimaro from the kaguya clan. Perhaps he was looking for a more pure otsutsuki blood line 🤔

Honestly the title of this video itself was essentially enough to convince me. I mean his curse marks, his skin color, his power level. It fully makes sense even without any explanation
I think Orochimaru is the progenitor of the Otsutsuki via time travel shinjutsu techniques.
I haven't fully pieced it together yet, but I think there is a huge Orochimaru/Amado/Otsutsuki connection that has been staring us in the face. Also, if you take the 2 greatest scientists ever who are both obsessed with very similar things, they both have major Otsutsuki features to the point many people have theorized that each are Otsutsuki. Also they each have the Otsutsuki features that the other doesn't. Only thing missing between the 2 is dojutsu.
Weird thought I've had with Orochimaru is what if he is the key to defeating the Otsutsuki? Even if this means he can learn more and keep doing Orochimaru, Mix this with your theory it could go either way.
Also another random thought is what if Boruto was the one to gain snake sage mode?

One thing I think that's important to bring up is that when the otsusuki showed up during the chunin exam orochimarus "clone" was about to use a "power" and one of the otsusuki took him out before he could activate it or whatever because it was too strong... so obviously there is some technique or something orochimarus figured out and imbued in mitsuki

O. has all the credentials of being an Otsutsuki from implanting others' DNA into himself as if zombies were getting upgrades to being immortal and all. Also very reminiscing to all the Leaf's Missing Nins: Madara, Danzo, Obito, Sasuke, and even his own child.
Looks to me like there's a strong hint that he will get his own piece dedicated for him in the franchise. (Me rubbing my hands)
Fun theory i guess. Orichimaru's design was discussed before years ago, and there was a lot of things Kishimoto and the creators wanted to implement into his entity, but none of this included Otsutsuki relations.. (we are talking over a decade ago). The concept of the Otsutsuki is new compared to Orichimaru's conception. His white skin has nothing to do with Otsutsuki.
Of course It would be a retcon..

I could also see Orochimaru and Ototsuki being a case of convergent evolution...his goals are similar to the Ototsuki results/goals, so his actions/symptoms are similar to those of the Ototsuki.
I think it was implied Orochimaru was too weak to become a snake sage because his host body was decomposing from his body transfer technique. I don't think his original body would have had this problem.
The thing is Orochimaru first went to the snake sage in his original body. The great snake sage bites you and pumps in a lot of snake sage chakra. You die if you're not able to handle it. Orochimaru didn't die. Orochimaru got the ability to pull in snake sage chakra. His body just couldn't handle it. He may have ended up with an imperfect sage body. This would explain the Orochimaru form Itachi stabbed with his Totsuka blade.

@@susear5939 The Naruto wiki said multiple times that Orochimaru wasn't able to do it because of his host body decaying. I can double check their source, but I really think that's what the problem was.
@@jamesk7256 Orochimaru's first visit to become snake sage was in his original body. He lived but couldn't transform. Host bodies are weaker. That's why he was on a quest to find a perfect host.
Man Orochimaru is my favorite character in the Narutoverse and these theories are certainly interesting, especially with Mitsuki and Toneri. Also the fact that Orochimaru no longer needs to find a new vessel due to taking over White Zetsu's body gives him all the time he would ever need to set any plans he may have in motion..

I remember watching a video of a guy talking about how orochimaru made Kawaki from Naruto and Sasuke DNA! and he took a DEEEEP dive into his reasoning as to how this was true and he had *strong* evidence too! But turns out he was way off 😂
Although this is really interesting and it would be cool to see this go full circle again ending with Orochimaru, I just don't think that's the case, the series has moved past Orochimaru as a villain and has for quite some time, but some really good points are made in this video though!

i really love the character of orochimaru - he has a nice character arc, real development thru the series, and he’s actually interesting . each relationship he has is multi-layered, from his love/hate dynamic with hiruzen to the point of death, to that similar but reversed sensei role with sasuke, to even the odd but true love he has for his son. not to exclude that he is the literal definition of an immortal, mysterious genius with undeniable strength, he is a two-time war hero & criminal simultaneously. also: that i could use “she/her” to describe orochimaru & it would neither be accurate nor inaccurate without changing the way his character is viewed somehow is a feat in itself. believe it or not, orochimaru isn’t even my favorite character-although he’s definitely not far from it. AND without orochimaru in the story from the start, the entire plot of naruto would crumble…just fascinating. 🐍

The thing about tailed beasts and divine tree powers is that they always seem to come back and affect the health of the user negatively. Imperfect jincloaks burn your flesh or reduce your lifespan. Having a tailed beast removed almost certainly kills you. Divine trees feed off the lifeforce of a planet. Having multiple tailed beasts causes chakra sickness in light novels.
Basically there always seem to be power at the cost of life force. So what if this godly figure is simply dead rather than transcended? They found his corpse and assumed he transcended but what information is there to back that up? Maybe he simply ran out of fuel.
Personally? I think that it makes Orochimaru infinitely less interesting if you connect him to any big clan or group. Orochimaru is the ultimate example of a nobody bringing himself up to become something incredible, someone important. I think that Orochimaru doesn't need to be an Otsutsuki, and more importantly, I think that these theories have a few holes, not the least of which when Nick mentioned young Orochimaru slapping Shin Otsutsuki's DNA onto his.

the mystery surrounding orochimaru and his backstory/lineage is what makes him such an intriguing character imo.
Sometimes its better to just leave things up in the air for the reader to try and piece together or theorize rather than just outright giving us an answer that probably won’t satisfy most hardcore fans.

Always thought it was interesting how orochimaru's consciousness was able to take over kabuto from just his skin, yet Hashura's didn't take over any of the thousands of bodies that had his cells.
Orochimaru is corrupted and came to power through ill-begotten means. It should be one of the more obvious benefits since he desperately wants to endure through the ages.

His DNA probably resided in Anko longer than anyone else and he knew of everything when his entire body was released from the curse mark he left on her. A mere part of him having the consciousness isn't 'remarkably' uncommon for him.
@willdiesel8431 because doing it through those very specific practices require specific means. Otherwise, why wouldn't he just graft a chunk of skin onto every child he abducted? Sounds a lot easier than wasting his guinea pigs that could be used for other experiments. With the body swap, he has to wait 3 years and even then, it isn't a guarantee he can win the mind battle. With the curse mark, it only succeeds on 1/10 people. It would just make way more sense to plop skin on some random than to go through all the processes of the other methods to pass his consciousness
@@johnkiggs108 I'm guessing the reason it's not done in that manner is because he wants to practice some form of autonomy on both ends. He lost interest in Anko but she has the curse mark forever. No amount of body modification will change that. Kabuto went mad when he grafted the skin to himself WILLINGLY. Imagine what would happen if there was zero choice in the matter. It's much easier to counter act the DNA with the medical advancements in the present day and time within the story.

If the zetsu body can pull in nature energy, then orochimaru can be a perfect sage, if it couldnt, then no.

Mitsuki actually looks like he has Kabuto's DNA as well, which would make sense since Kabuto had grafted Orochimaru onto himself., and part of the "resurrection" of Orochimaru involved flesh from Kabuto. Though Orochimaru abandoned that body to enter into Tsetzu, it seems Orochimaru tends to carry alot of the acquired DNA from his previous hosts with him during his body switches. As I recall, Mitsuki also has limited medical ninjutsu. With them keeping the same pattern with the teams, though changing up the characters with it in this team (boruto being the Sasuke/ Orochimaru type character, Sarada being the "hokage" character ect.) I could see Mitsuki becoming the medical nin of the team, between having Orochimaru as his parent and all the medical/scientist knowledge that goes with that. I wouldn't be surprised to find out there is still some loose connection between Orochimaru and Kabuto. As for Orochimaru being an Otsatsuki, they travel in pairs...so one would think the Otsatsuki God had a partner. It is possible that that partner was abandoned when he assended and was trapped on their world, possibly founding a snake clan with a snake sage which ended up producing Orochimaru, and said clan was wiped out like so many other OP clans like Uzumaki and others, hence leaving Orochimaru an orphan. It is possible that he suffered something similar to what Sasuke did, in seeing not only his family wiped out, but his entire clan.

I brought up the snake sage stuff in the comments of this channel before... So I pose the same question... How come orochimaru always looked like a snake? When they show him as a little kid, he still looks like that? I always thought that was weird because no one points it out, when you'd assume he started looking like that after experiments later in life, but then they show a flashback of him at like 6 or 7, and he looks the same.
Having a source of limitless clones does essentially give Orochimaru plenty of bodies to live forever. I definitely think he’s just trying to create the perfect vessel.
