yesssss, even the basic one has its place in a great illustration, not everything has to be super detailed (the variation works wonders to make it more realistic also)

All in all, it depends on what you want the viewer to focus on. For e.g: If a character is the main focus, you can settle for the basic or simple type, just teeny details. However, if your focus includes the snowflakes to add to a background or as a power that a character may have, you could go for Better, or Expert, and/or more if it becomes the main focus. Just what I think these different levels could be used for
