I had an idea of making my own rock afire showtape with my own music because when I asked about you doing more shows, someone said your free to do your own shows, is it true if not?
I love to see how the community of animatronic restaurants and old history is growing. I am also happy to see the one himself to make RAE is getting involved too.
Something I've been curious about Aaron. If egos weren't ever an issue back in the day, and you were approached and asked if you could make the Rock Afire mechs and body shells and a programming system to be used exclusively for the Chuck E Cheese cast after the merger occurred to bring them up to par with the Rock Afire Explosion, while keeping the Rock Afire around in Showbiz, so you would continue programming your characters you owned for the Showbiz locations, while Showbiz Pizza Time themselves programmed the retrofits exclusively for the Pizza Time without ever touching the original Rock Afire themselves. Would you have allowed that?
Hey there Aaron, great video! It’s always interesting to me to hear your stories about the history of the Rock-Afire Explosion that I’d never heard before. A video idea that I think me and many others out there would love to see is your history with bbwl, like the ups and downs and ups again that you’ve had with the store over the years and what the future holds between you and them and also if you plan to assist in repairing their show and if you plan to attend one of the conventions they have there every year.

I was a District Technical Manager at Showbiz at this time and did these "Retrofits". Colorado Springs was also a test store for Billy Bob becoming Yogi Bear and Looney Bird becoming Boo Boo. Looks like Farshid in the old vids :)
I saw beach kais videos and it was very informative and it was awesome to see your reaction aaron! Been seeing your videos and i am happy to see more of the uploads to the channel. And mitzi was my introduction to the rock a fire and its amazing to see more videos on the band members and learning more and seeing videos

It’s great to hear this play out so well and learn new information about the behind the scenes from back in the day. Great to see a more positive interaction while you get to fill in additional information and anecdotes. Your memories are great to hear. I must add that I doubt doubt however there was any attempt by Jul Kamen to “outdo” the Rock Afire. She has a wide portfolio of work and it was likely just another part of the job at the time for her. Especially when you consider her earlier pre-merger work which seemed to have a certain element that is missing from her post-merger. A Creative Director in situations like these is usually just carrying out an ordered vision with a slice of their own interpretation.
Yes, I understand all that. SBPP shoehorned her into this position. But I must say again, her goal could not have been to create a band that was "not as good" as the band she was converting. That would be stupid. Therefore the goal must be to create a band that was just as good or better than the original. If that was not her goal, she should not have been in that position. I'm not saying she was an architect of that idea. No. The credit for being the architect of that idea goes to Stan Black, Gene Cram, Phil Cruze, Paul What's his name and a few others who were jealous of CEI and wanted us out of their lives. Jul was just their tool. "Jul The Tool"! I like that. G-d bless her.

However an interesting note, her original idea which was closer to the original PTT theme actually got tossed by CEC corporate specifically wanted to imitate the Rock Afire and also wanted to make the female lead more like Mitzi. So there was a lot of direct corporate input when you compare it to the prototype. I hope we can both agree she was assigned a job and tried to execute the best she could given corporate input, considering her attempt to apply the Chuck E Cheese brand to your technology was rejected. Corporate really wanted to imitate you and your company during the remodel and apparently gave specific instructions to do so. On a final please note I’m just attempting to ensure no ill will is going either way. I respect both you and her (however I think Concept Unification was amongst her weakest work, even with morals aside). What I feel is that the final product was certainly corporate driven compared to the artistically driven Rock Afire. It’s kind of funny how I can see so many obvious “corporate wants to see this” and several streamlined, safe decisions in the final product.
That's easily soo true. I think Araon can take advantage of this because CEC has really gone down the drain and I am sure CEI will have lots of success! Araon is truly a genius.

Hey Aaron, I have a question for you. I always wondered if the rock-afire explosion had stayed and showbiz pizza had stayed, what would you have thought about the retrofitting that would’ve had to been done for the existing Chuck E. Cheese animatronics to make them look like yours? Also, if they had tried to make the show a one animatronic show like Chuck E. Cheese did with their characters, what would you have said about that? I’m also very curious what your thoughts would have been if you were still working with ShowBiz and they came to you with the 2.0 remodel idea to get rid of the animatronics. Sorry, this comment is so long, i’m just curious what your thoughts would’ve been if in an alternate reality things had ended up differently.
Dooks drumming on heartaches was perfect and I’m a drummer. For limited movements on dook it’s to top notch drumming on the programming and the best dook drumming ever
I will admit that it isn't as good as some of the later stuff after I learned better how to drum. For instance, the drum solo on Abbey Road just kills me! And it makes the Heartaches drums look average. But being the first time I ever saw how well the drums working, I was completely amazed that night. I was also very tired and slap happy after days of work with no sleep. So, I don't want to go down on record as claiming this was a perfect drum program. It was just better than I ever imagined it would be at the time. But thank you very much.
@@therockafire one quick question did you program the rest of the very first show tape of the rockafire explosion such as school days and catch a wave and many other beta show tapes such as Beatles medley or Beatles birthday?

Like tell us what character you saw that your workers was working on and tell us about what was it like getting to see the rockafire being developed at cei. Yes. I programmed every movement of every show until my then girlfriend and accidental trainee, Kathy Norman secretly programmed a show while I was out sick for a week. That show was Elton John's "Love Lies Bleeding". It was and still is an amazing job. Kathy got an immediate promotion to "Assistant Programmer" and that took quite a load off my back for many years. I still had to do the mouths and clean up and the shows I really didn't want anyone else to touch, but I definitely needed help getting these show tapes out even though I cringed a little at some of the stuff I didn't like. I still dream about going in and perfecting the show tapes someday.
I believe I will find videos of that and publish them on my Premium Channel eventually. Lots of good, historic stuff is coming out over there like our recording session for "Light My Fire", and the first time we brought a digital sampler into the studio, and, of course, Duke's perverted camera work.
It feels like that Helen feels like a villain and Mitzi feels like a good guy and I feel horrible for Mitzi in concept unification but this video was interesting to see!
I don’t know if you know this, but Nolan also tried to do some kind of bar using the Chuck E. Cheese mechs but made a new character called wolf man Zapp who was also based on what wolf man was based on, but we know practically nothing about him

aaron, how do you feel about chuck e. cheese corporate’s decision to save the 2 retrofitted 3-stages along with the other stages it’s saving? do you harbor any ill will at all towards the retrofitted animatronics and stages, or are you just excited about this awesome win for the preservation of animatronic history?
I don't really care. But I don't trust them. I have no ill will towards them. They can do what they want with their property. The historic preservation is not in their hands.

I've seen that the first Rock A Fire was installed in Jacksonville, FL. Was it Arlington or Youngerman? Just trying to find out if it was the one I went to growing up (Youngerman). I think it was probably Arlington because I swear I read somewhere that location opened first. I worked at both later when they were CEC.
Also I was terrified of the animatronics as a small child, (we could not sit in the showroom), but became obsessed with learning everything about them as a teenager.
@@therockafire The newest version of the Hard Luck Bears was designed to be manufactured with (earlier style) Rock afire parts for ease of manufacturing. We could look at this in the mechanical drawings for the Hard Luck Bears if you wanted to see it. It really isn’t accidental at all and worked to your advantage for these bear show Rock afire retrofits.
I cant wait for the simulator to be open to the public I want to program shows and maybe even do modifications to run my servo animatronic with the program simulator
Will the creative engineering tours ever start again? I'd LOVE to be toured by you Aaron, but at this point I'd take a random teenager just to see the building.
Aaron sets a perfect example how to keep a band alive while not preforming at many locations anymore. I can perfectly see RAE returning to the public interest now with the state of Disney and CEC.

Right. I get that. But since he knows who created that video and its contents, do you think he might credit me or CEI for that? Or do you think after a certain number of years, he should be the clear and distinct owner of that content that I don't even have on my own CZcams channel? What do you think is morally fair, and possibly even legally fair? Do you think I'm a nice person for not asking CZcams to take those videos down off his channel? I know this isn’t answering your question but if there was a second gen beach bear that was standing up it wouldn’t be much different from Billy bob expect taller and different cosmetics

What i will say is very sad. Is they take the perfectly fine formula of the pizza time players pre 1985 which say what you want about the characters. They were not childish their voices and shows were fine. If it ain't broke don't fix it you know, showbiz and chuck e cheese should never have merged to be honest, And it was the same with the rockafire there was nothing wrong with them so why remove them, Nancy lenhan who played Helen during her Broadway era was fired essentially from what we know because of the "mitzifyed" version of Helen needing a younger voice and a few years prior the original chuck e cheese cast were booted out by showbiz also.
CEC was probably not going to make it without a merger. The video game crash dealt it a massive blow. Scott Wilson (Chuck E. and Munch) stayed when the shows moved production to Texas, but only because his original replacements were unpopular among franchisees.
Aaron. back in pizza time theatre helen was clucking and was very annoying. Munch wasnt the first animatronic at pizza time theatre it was crusty the cat from the first location.

SPT was honestly based to go with CEC. Aaron stinks at public relationships and is incapable at maintaining a good relationship with anyone. Why do you think Aaron has so many people who dislike him the animatronic community? Not even Scott Cawthon has this much hatred towards him. Everyone who hates Aaron were once friends with Aaron until he betrayed them all. CEC Entertainment doesn't do that to anyone, they keep things professional and clean. Which is why CEC is the one who will continue to dominate the pizza arcade industry, and The Rock-afire Explosion will fall into further obscurity. CEC has been good to me and has never failed me.
at 1:00:39 the mitzi bear mask you question is Pete thornsberry but the mask itself isn't the original well it's kinda is.... let me explain so in 2022 a person named xan was and is still is working on restoring the hard luck bears shows and made molds over the original mask why did he do this? well xan dosen't like what you do what the employees do or anything with the company but still wanted to restore it so he just made molds over the mask so he wouldn't pay you or anything and not only mitzi got that everyone got that

Hi Aaron. I don't think this will be too off topic, but I have a question about Mitizi's character that goes way back. Back to before she was a mouse. Of course I'm talking about the crimson fox in her bobbie socks, Lil' Queenie. There was a lot of talk about voices and characterization in this video, and I have always been curious about Queenie's original voice ever since I first heard it. It's kind of haunted me a little I guess. That slight NY accent (which sounded natural to me) and then the actual vocal performance which takes on a low mourning, almost funerial quality that I thought fit the mood of the song very well. I wonder if you could tell me anything about who it was that performed that piece? I've seen talk in other comments that it was someone who had just been around and recorded it as a fill in for another vocal track that would be hashed out later, but I do wonder if there was more too it than that. Thanks :)

aaron, how do you feel about chuck e. cheese corporate’s decision to save the 2 retrofitted 3-stages along with the other stages it’s saving? do you harbor any ill will at all towards the retrofitted animatronics and stages, or are you just excited about this awesome win for the preservation of animatronic history?
I don't really care. But I don't trust them. I have no ill will towards them. They can do what they want with their property. The historic preservation is not in their hands.

I've seen that the first Rock A Fire was installed in Jacksonville, FL. Was it Arlington or Youngerman? Just trying to find out if it was the one I went to growing up (Youngerman). I think it was probably Arlington because I swear I read somewhere that location opened first. I worked at both later when they were CEC.
Also I was terrified of the animatronics as a small child, (we could not sit in the showroom), but became obsessed with learning everything about them as a teenager.
Where there any characters from the rockafire that had to be scrapped for specific reasons?
The Mitzi mask at gullivers kingdom is one of the real Harld luck bears mask. I think it’s Pete?

@@therockafire The newest version of the Hard Luck Bears was designed to be manufactured with (earlier style) Rock afire parts for ease of manufacturing. We could look at this in the mechanical drawings for the Hard Luck Bears if you wanted to see it. It really isn’t accidental at all and worked to your advantage for these bear show Rock afire retrofits.
I cant wait for the simulator to be open to the public I want to program shows and maybe even do modifications to run my servo animatronic with the program simulator

I know this isn’t answering your question but if there was a second gen beach bear that was standing up it wouldn’t be much different from Billy bob expect taller and different cosmetics

What i will say is very sad. Is they take the perfectly fine formula of the pizza time players pre 1985 which say what you want about the characters. They were not childish their voices and shows were fine. If it ain't broke don't fix it you know, showbiz and chuck e cheese should never have merged to be honest, And it was the same with the rockafire there was nothing wrong with them so why remove them, Nancy lenhan who played Helen during her Broadway era was fired essentially from what we know because of the "mitzifyed" version of Helen needing a younger voice and a few years prior the original chuck e cheese cast were booted out by showbiz also.
CEC was probably not going to make it without a merger. The video game crash dealt it a massive blow.
Scott Wilson (Chuck E. and Munch) stayed when the shows moved production to Texas, but only because his original replacements were unpopular among franchisees.
Here’s the thing people! If Chuck E. Cheese (EVER) goes bankrupted Aaron could start a new company and the rock afire explosion could be revived!

SPT was honestly based to go with CEC. Aaron stinks at public relationships and is incapable at maintaining a good relationship with anyone. Why do you think Aaron has so many people who dislike him the animatronic community? Not even Scott Cawthon has this much hatred towards him. Everyone who hates Aaron were once friends with Aaron until he betrayed them all. CEC Entertainment doesn't do that to anyone, they keep things professional and clean. Which is why CEC is the one who will continue to dominate the pizza arcade industry, and The Rock-afire Explosion will fall into further obscurity. CEC has been good to me and has never failed me.

at 1:00:39 the mitzi bear mask you question is Pete thornsberry but the mask itself isn't the original well it's kinda is.... let me explain so in 2022 a person named xan was and is still is working on restoring the hard luck bears shows and made molds over the original mask why did he do this? well xan dosen't like what you do what the employees do or anything with the company but still wanted to restore it so he just made molds over the mask so he wouldn't pay you or anything and not only mitzi got that everyone got that
The mask is not a bootleg its the original 90s mask cei made for the show. Xan has not made any new reproduction masks for the show besides fatz

Hi Aaron. I don't think this will be too off topic, but I have a question about Mitizi's character that goes way back. Back to before she was a mouse. Of course I'm talking about the crimson fox in her bobbie socks, Lil' Queenie. There was a lot of talk about voices and characterization in this video, and I have always been curious about Queenie's original voice ever since I first heard it. It's kind of haunted me a little I guess. That slight NY accent (which sounded natural to me) and then the actual vocal performance which takes on a low mourning, almost funerial quality that I thought fit the mood of the song very well. I wonder if you could tell me anything about who it was that performed that piece? I've seen talk in other comments that it was someone who had just been around and recorded it as a fill in for another vocal track that would be hashed out later, but I do wonder if there was more too it than that. Thanks :)
