Thank you Chris and Chrystal, from LTD Sailing, for taking two of my favorite crews, SV Delos and SV Sophisticated Lady, out for a day sailing on your beautiful Cat. Captain Rick I loved the up close insight of the sailors as they captained the Cat and took turns. It was interesting to read the expressions on you faces as you sailed and tried to figure out this new vessel. I wish the guy at the end would've included Sweden, Russia and Canada...three more countries present, but I'm sure there were others there he missed too. Thanks for another great video and for your support of Shasha on her journey. It speaks volumes about you. Fair Winds

we had a drone with us, but for the same reason as the microphones wouldn't work, we didn't chance putting the drone up over the water... Too much wind! :)

Going from a mono to a cat 10 yrs ago for us was like coming out of the Dark Ages & landing on the Starship Enterprise! We like sailing once or twice a year on a friends mono but we will never go back to one!

A big thank you to LTD Sailing for taking us along. It was great to hear your feedback about sailing this Cat. Seems like hydraulic steering lacks the connection with whats going on and i think this would be true with a Cat or Monohull.

I've got a similar cat, a Schionning 48', I've only sailed cats and have hydrolic steering which has no feel. I wish I had cable but instead I listen to the sounds of the boat, mostly the water lifting at the stern and feel the acceleration from adjustments - good or bad.
Keep in mind this "sloped windows" you like bake the sun into the cabin.....unlike the square lagoons you don't like :)

Sailing big cats is doing it by the numbers and gauges. Different at first but once you are used to it it’s great. I have cable steering so there is a little feedback but generally I like to use the autopilot and play with the sails and not worry about the wheel.

I'm a little confused. Either this is an older video or Sashcha has finished her journey and has joined your crew again. Which is it? It is a nice video though. That Catamaran looked like it's a very spacious boat. What's the top speed that it can go?
There are a timeline series of videoes, witch is the most of them, but now and then ( Rick usualy tell in the speek when) there is some real time video updates. lately there has been some realtime videoes, and that can be confusing, especialy when the story line is one big party with the Delos tribe ;-) ;-)
Hi Donard - on the Balance 451 we've had it up to 17.4 knots but cruising 10 - 12 is normal. 3/4 windspeed.
Delos just wrapped up their Arctic trip (Svalbard). I think Blue & Brady are actually in Tahoe right now (according to Instagram). This has got to be old. Just not as old as the Brazil episodes on SV Delos

Hi Rick, you didn't talk much about the space, stability, comfort, speed of cats vs monohulls. I suppose its a case of "cats got your tongue". yuk yukyou can guess, we took our lessons on a monohull, and of course, smashed our toes, but now only sail cats. its like our instructor said, there are two types of sailors, those who sail mono hulls and those who sail cats.enjoy the videos. thanks

I have only been on small trimarans but they do seem to have more feed back than cats.
What I really like, Rick, is your honesty in describing the lack of "feedback" on the "cat", and your honesty in including Brian's similar feedback. Frankly, for all its potential speed, and the excellent company of people aboard, the entire sail seemed rather "meh", even though, with your usual storytelling skill, you did everything you could to make it seem more eventful. When do you get Sascha back, and will the current political kerfuffle cause her any difficulties?

The steering having no feedback is not a function of cats nor hydraulic steering, has to be a feature of this particular steering system.
Nice of them to let you have a try and to remind yourself of why, NOT!

How many cabins on that 72ft you where talking about. Couple weeks ago Delos Crew was asking about 100ft yachts. I been telling then for years to get a huge yacht. That way they could take on a dozen or two dozen CZcams Crew out for good times.
Cool shoot but you guys don't seem to impressed with that extra hull :-)
Does that cat. Co want too sponsor me and the fam to make videos for them novice sailors that would need a beautiful boat like that would be very forgiving as she would sail herself with a tiny bit of guidance from us I could definitely get use to this way of living because I sit at home because of my disability pipe dream I'm sure great vid rick and crew

There are some great adware apps that will stop all adds.
Yes Claris, we make our living on CZcams almost 100% now, and part of our living comes from the ad-revenue split with CZcams for ads run on our channel... hopefully they aren't too disturbing, but they are helping us keep the dream alive and keep going! :)
Catamarans are so overrated. I sail a Westsail 42 monohull but deliver these damn floating outhouses for a living for the rich. It takes a gale to move them and they do not point like a monohull. They are travel trailers on training wheels for people who do not know how to sail. Biggest ripoff too at Half a mill for a cheaper one you could have a world blue water monohull cruiser capable of sailing around the world . U could tell Delos and Rick were not impressed.

You are big and so is Delos. I hate to see that Catamaran company being promoted with your viewers. The president is unscrupulous, first hand experience.
we aren't there to promote the catamaran company at all, just have a cool day on the water with our friends from LTD Sailing... and it was me that specifically asked to try that particular cat, cause I wanted one with daggerboards and a sleek profile to test upwind performance.. :)
