    When I was a kid in the early 60s I'd sneak downstairs in the wee hours of the morning to watch a bit of TV with my dad (he was a nightowl) - and he'd let me stay up for an hour or so to watch along with him. I remembered this was one of the movies we watched one night - I remember the throwing dynamite scene and the axe cutting off the arm scenes...that was all. I was like two or three years old at the time. I'm 57 now and just found this again after a tip from someone on fbook! Wow...suddenly I'm a kid again on the sofa in our old farmhouse. Surreal to see this again after more than five decades! Thanks to the uploader!

    Despite the low budget and kinda goofy effects, this is a solid horror sci-fi film. A good rewrite and updated science could make this a pretty great remake. Keep the silicates slow, indestructible, and unassuming, because their inevitability is part of what makes them terrifying.

    • @BingCherry11
      @BingCherry11 Před 2 lety +4

      Make sure to show a close up of each corpse not just one or two. It shows the aftermath of a Silicate attack!!!! And most important don't have the movie end in a
      "Cliff hanger" unless you absolutely plan to show all the necessary sequels!!!!

    • @shaddonon
      @shaddonon Před 2 lety +4

      Agreed on all points. Another part of what makes the silicates terrifying is how *fast* they move once they line up a good shot. Imagine a remake with attack sequences akin to those in the 80s remake of ‘The Blob’-striking arrogant characters who walk within range or under tree branches, etc. Could be a lot of fun!

      @@BingCherry11 Having reflected upon this movie, there is a terrifying feeling of inevitable doom with a cliffhanger ending if it's done right. I have just watched this film. Thank you. The last time I saw it was when I was a child. I remember seeing it with my mother on TV. I loved it then but over the years forgot the name of the film. It has not been shown on free TV where I live since then. Good to see that Peter Cushing made a come back on the big screen last year (2016), even tho he died over 30 years ago. Star Wars: Rogue One.

    This Movie had all the elements for a great Horror Piece. Experienced Actors, a Cool monster concept, and decent camera work for it's day. The only major problem I had with it when I first saw this (I was 14) was the Story. It had more plot holes in it than a pound of Swiss Cheese. Stephen King is right when he said CREATIVE WRITING can not be taught. Like comedy or anything else, either you've got the natural ability or you don't.

    Back when I was a kid in the early 70s there was a season of horror films shown on STV (Scottish telivision) called Don't watch alonethere were two shown late on a Friday night usually a mix of old Farnkenstine Dracula movies and a newer film like this. It was a big deal being allowed to stay up to watch them after 10pm when you were 10 or so years old. And they were the main topic on Monday morning in the school playground.

Even the Horror channel shows junk from the US that’s not even straight to DVD fodder. :( I’d love a great season of these films. I loved staying up on a Saturday night to watch them. I’d sadly fall asleep but a friend would video them and we’d watch them. We were the last people I think in our area to get a video recorder.

Sitting there, sharing popcorn & screaming bloody murder!! Monsters, mummies, vampires, all the things that make up the best nightmares, lmbo!! Oh & Bette Davis had a few that freaked me out, too! "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane" & "Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte" were so good!

      In the movie in one conversation they implied that all the boats were away on business and would not be returning for at least a couple of weeks. But, even if they all squeezed into the tiny little boats they had ... the problem with the Silicates would remain and continue to grow!!!! They had to kill them as fast as possible. In one week of dividing there would be over a million!!!! It would extremely difficult to poison that many!!! And in just 6 more hours you would 2 million and in 6 more hours you would have 4 million!!!! This is not good!!!!
