- Andrew McNeil's Kingmaker is back and better than ever before.
First launched in 1974, Kingmaker simulates the Wars of the Roses, the period of sporadic Civil War in England between 1450 and 1490. The game is based on the premise that the powerful Noble families used the Lancastrian and Yorkist princes as pawns in a greater game of gaining control of England. Players control ‘factions’ using their military and political power to control and influence the royal heirs, supporting the heir in their control as king while trying to take down all the other heirs. It’s a game of manipulation, deception, and unforeseeable incidents - making each game unpredictable and a lot of fun.

The original 1974 game had a superb production quality but this is a significant enhancement of that!!
Can't wait! My favorite game from my childhood!
I never got to play this because I was too young but my big brother and his mates were always playing, so now its my turn to experience this classic! CANT WAIT! TAKE MY MONEY! NOW!
My heart is broken that I didn't even hear about this Kickstarter.
My older brother wouldn't let me play it with his friends back in the 80s and now I'd love to own a copy.

Even though the instructions where a bit iffy with the Arial version me and my cousin played the game for hours and days on end and enjoyed every second of
the game!

Hi! I have recently rediscovered in my cellar a box of Kingmaker first edition (Ariel 1974).
Unfortunately I realised that there is no user manual, while - searching in the BGG Files section - I found several files containing the list of things needed for the game, but referring to later versions (1976+).
I should have all the components; the only thing missing is the manual with the rules of the game.
Do you have a scanned copy? Or how to find the rules for the 1974 version?
Obviously I am an absolute beginner for Kingmaker! :-)

The digital version needs an update for modern systems or a remake!
I remember this fondly from my younger days, but the original had one flaw .. you could put your controlled Royal on a boat and leave him out at sea.
The expansion kit removed this by the addition of a "Violent storms at sea, all ships sunk" card.
Favourite memory is of starting a game early one NY Eve and the hostess losing everything due to a plague in York, at which time she went to bed. The following morning, about 9 hours after she went to bed, she came downstairs to see us all still around the board. Having ascertained that it was still the same game and we had indeed been there all night, her matter-of-fact response was "I expect you'll want some toast then"
