I love how if you actually stop to read the document, they *DO* acknowledge that Kaiju No. 8 saved those two defense force members from 'a strange shadow which attacked them' which is such a nice touch for something that didn't get expanded upon during the episode itself.
The little girl he saved, the defense force members he protected from No. 9, they're not just forgotten and unmentioned. They *did* mean something to the story itself.
