*I HOPE this does help you even just a little bit while we wait for the full fix update release.
wow really help me there was complaining while flying it was so laggy thx once again
Thanks for this video! Before even adjusting anything in-game I saw an immediate improvement. I tested it by running through Hogsmeade and I didn't see any FPS drops or NPCs popping in and out like before, and Hogsmeade has always been the area I've had the most issues. I still have to test it in combat because I have had issues when there are a lot of enemies to fight. I have an RTX 2070 Super and this was the first game I had major issues with. Even Cyberpunk ran relatively well for me at release, with only a few bugs.
Dude i have an rtx 2070 and im struggling đ would you tell me all your settings please đđ
@@MegaFrance69 Mine were all on high and I had ray tracing on (used recommended settings). I turned off motion blur and chromatic aberration. Not many issues after adding in the fix to the engine file.

My game is fine when I walk around. In fact, I donât run at all in Hogwarts unless itâs in the grand staircase. That seems to be the best optimized area. Go try running up and down those stairs. No stutter no lag. Go to the exit by the great hall. Youâll notice the difference.
The exit by the great hall is cursed. I tried to turn on Ultra for everything and RT on High, tunning around the grand staircase and the great hall i got 60 fps stable, but when I went to the exit my fps got all the was down to 10đ
Itâs opposite for me. My game runs great if I stay still and it drops like crazy even moving in the slightest lol
It has nothing to do with an "optimized area" that isn't a thing you could technically say about a game all code is linear across all areas same code is used... What you're experiencing is an area in the game that has to cache/render very little compared to other areas with larger open expanses. Even while inside there are variations in what is being rendered this is where the issue occurs. Not that the area is somehow "more optimized" that term just isn't applicable. Sorry to be technically correct but it pays to understand your issues to help fix them in future with more preciseness.
@@WizardOrangeScorpion Ok so after that got any advice to fix it??
@@SoDoesTobi Well that's a loaded question now isn't it, I don't know your specs but you want advice on how to improve performance? This game has undeniable performance issues and how they are solved or at least mitigated differs between builds. General advice is this however, If mid to low range pc your only safe option here is to reduce everything to low at first and work your way up finding the setting causing the most problems for you and leaving them as low as tolerable. lower your resolution and use upscaling options like fsr for AMD or dlss if using Rtx compatible nvidia gpu. If on a high tier rig one of the best settings to change at this time is crowd and fog density along side shadow quality while playing with RTX off. Until there are fixes which may take a while these issues are not easily solved for those with not so great specs.
Dude your settings made my game run day and night diffrence, thank you so much i really appreciate you making a honest video and not a video with bogus settings lol.
Im very happy this has helped! enjoy your time in Hogwarts :D
i will admit, i did not expect much at first. however this actually had a huge impact, not on fps but heavily reduced the amount of stuttering I had. Thanks!
Thank you very much! The setting with the "engine" file helped a lot! Game is running perfect now without any stutter.
Thank you so much my game was stuttering so bad and felt like the first patch made it worse and now I can play the amazing game and be immersed in the world big up bro đđ»
Thank you for your guide, made my game run smooth, really apperciate you for making such a detail and honest video
your video so far fixed other problems i was dealing with on my pc, havent really tested the game yet gonna do it now but im so happy
THANK YOUUUU I did all this and reverted my obs back to OBS 27. now everything runs perfectly smooth!
I hope a fix comes soon. There's so much stuttering and massive frame drops.
Iâm about to go try this. But your first step doesnât work for me. Itâs enabled on windows when I go into the game it still shows itâs locked. Can you help?
Omgg any tutorial never works on my computer but THIS actually helped and my character has eye brows now đđđ»đđ»đđ» Thank you so much youâre amazing !! â€

Might be placebo or performance improvement but one thing it didnât occurred to me after playing with the tweaked engine.ini, Iâve not receiving the performance dip I occasionally received while roaming hogsmeade and inside hogwarts.
I've noticed this seems to be the best fix for performance.
Changing the INI file, shader cache, etc.... really smoothed out my performance. I also have all my in-game settings exactly like this video with the exception of VSYNC, which I keep off.
BUT, with VSYNC off, I was getting some really noticeable screen tear, and that was at my monitor refresh rate. Strangely, when I lowered the game's framerate cap, it fixed the tearing issue. Almost like the numbers are wrong. Oh well, it's not tearing anymore.
Everything else is on medium or high except the fog and sky (volumetric) and post processing.
I don't use ray tracing, but ran it for a little to see what impact it had. With ray tracing on ultra, for all settings, I was getting probably 30-40 FPS, which is just not for me. Plus, it didn't make a huge difference, although I did notice the lighting in Hogsmead looked really, really good with the ray tracing. But the rest of the map isn't as noticeable.
Finally, the patch they released a few days ago was supposed to kind of resolve this, and I've seen some people saying to change the INI file back. I tried that, and my performance dropped again. I'm using an i7 processor and an older nvidia card - rtx2060.
So, big endorsement for this video!
interesting
Spent the weekend tweaking my system, and I ended up with almost the same exact settings for my 3070 ti. I'll go in and do the clouds setting. I totally disabled the fog. Nice video.
This actually helped so much, thanks man!
Thank You so much for this. Now I can play this game in peace. The game is running running a lot better.
You're an absolute life saver and i wish I could like this video a thousands times! You rock!đđ»
I'm running the game on a 980 and with these tweaks it runs surprisingly well. It was running pretty good before but would stutter a bit when turning the camera. This elimated a good bit of that. Cheers!
Just curious what you're getting for frames if you're running these settings. Seems to be running really well on everything if you get it running right.
@@anthonybarton1591 inside the castle I get between 50-60. In the open world 40-50. Sometimes in combat it takes a nose dive but it hasnt been game breaking.
@calebkdesign pretty amazing considering with these settings you aren't going to notice too major a difference as far as graphics go, unless RT is on. It definitely need a little work but this umis unfortunately the most stable AAA release in years lol. Hope you're enjoying the game.
@@anthonybarton1591 I get better fps with lower settings but weirdly the camera doesn't stutter as much when in high makes it smoother I guess.
@calebkdesign that's actually sounds like you might have a slight CPU bottleneck. Try dropping the setting that are CPU demanding a little more if you can. Would give you more a few more frames on top. Also, It does need some patching. Caching when entering new areas and pop in should get better with drivers and a few updates. I have a pretty expensive rig and even I get some skips occasionally.
Just did the tutorial and fixed almost all my shuttering/drop fps problems !! you are a legend man.
For those who wonder i have a RTX 3080, i9 and 32gb ram. Also I apply this tutorial after latest patch to date (15th Feb 2023) and work like charm.
OMG! Thank you so much!! my game going super smotlly now with all Ultra settings! i love game now more then before!
When copy and pasting these settings to the engine ini the game stops responding on startup. When it gets to downloading the shaders it blackscreens and stops responding. Replacing the engine ini with the original succeeded in launching
DUDE!
My 4080 was honestly disappointing at first and after making *most* of these changes (I only put fog and clouds on low the rest I left on ultra) I am now running WITH Ray Tracing FULL Ultra and I'm getting 90-130fps STABLE. You absolute legend!
I have a 4080 too running on 1440p. Were you able to get rid of the constant micro stutters that happen everywhere all the time in Hogsmeade and sometimes while running around the castle, especially in the courtyards?
@@SciAntGaming have a similar rig the stuttering isnât as bad as before but has improved a lot for me but you can still tell thereâs something a bit off in hogmede
@@AIC_7 How did you manage to reduce the stutters?
@@SciAntGaming following his config helped a ton and making sure changing it to 4096 if applicable, unfortunately we really have to wait for a good patch in order to remove all these stutters as a whole. You can try diss and frame generation on I hope that helps!
@@AIC_7 Yes I have set it to 4096 and have had DLSS 3 Frame Generation running since day 1. Didn't make any difference.
Wow I donât comment on videos to often but theirs has helped my game out tremendously! Thank you so much !
YOU Change EVERYTHING BRO THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!
Wow this work way better than I expected! Thank you!
Damn, performance I got for my 3060 Ti was day and night after applying this! Thanks man!
Shout out to the 3060 Ti ganng !!!! .. I love my card ..can't wait to go home and try these settings.
Made the game playable for me, very well done sir you've made a lot of people's day with this!
me too!! THIS WORKS AWESOME. Now I can finally play 4k 60 fps native resolution all ultra (cept material quality low due to white bushes bug on 7900xtx). before it was dipping down to 64 with same settings. THis really works!!
Thank you so much for the help! Before this the game was not playablefor me, now is so much better! It still has lag problems, but at least i can play decently.
I didn't use all your settings, though, and i would like to ask an advice to you all, hoping to elimate all the lag problems once and for all.
I have a MSI laptop with with i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 2060.
Actually, the drivers of my 2060 are at the version 425 and, in this version, cache size option didn't allow me to set the effective size but just to enable or disable the setting.
Days ago, before this video, i tried to update them to version 431 like my app center councel me, trying to make the game a bit better, but the situation was event worse: the lag was still there and the graphic of the game was terrible even if i changed the settings in game. Of course i rolled back to the previous version, at least with that the graphic was good.
So i wonder if it is ok for me to try to update the drivers to a version that allow me to set the cache size to 10 GB or not. Anyone had the same issue?
Thank you anyway for this video and for your time đ
It worked very damn well on my PC! Keep up the good work.
you're getting a like and subscribe from me.. this is night and day the best optimisation video out there. fantastic increase
dude thank you, game runs and looks great
Thanks, very useful :)
Thank you! Honestly. I thought it was my trash PC not being able to handle the frames but after doing this the frames are buttery smooth.
Amazing result, thank you!
You're a Hero mate! Outside world and Hogsmeade made this unplayable but now its running great!
Only difference I had was I turned off in game V-Sync as its running in Nvidia
It really helped me. Thanks a lot!
I have:
- i7 11700
- RTX 3070
- 32GB RAM 3200
- NVME (where the game is)
Iâve used your guide, and instead the FSR, I use DLSS on Quality, and with your trick Iâve finely reached 60fps in 4K On High Settings with some options on Ultra.
Thank you so much man! You helped me a lot!
N.B.: in some places of the castle and out garden, Iâve a drop of FPS, from 60fps to 45/50 (like Hogsmeade) probably caused for bad optimisation. Waiting a fix patchâŠ..
You are so lucky i have gtx 1050
@@sweetkebab2223 lol same but it still helped mine run so much better

The streaming poolsize should be half of your total VRAM, not just 3072 and more than 3072. Anyway, this 'fix' doesn't fix the stuttering, it may improve your FPS although it is highly unlikely and is just placebo.
If my Gpu have 6Gb, how much higher i can write?
As someone who dabbles in unreal engine. This could help as it helps when messing with the engine. Ofc its more accessible making something rather than playing tho lol
â@@ProdAFemerald if you have 6gb vram set it to 3072 if you have 8gb should be 4096.
Wow! Know that I have tried all kinds of ways and you are the only one managed to help me, thank you very much, I accept it.
yes thank you so much! Have tried everything but yours worked - still stuttery in some places but so so much better
U fix my game than before. I have lil drops but its better. Thank a lot broâ„ïž
Hey btw some can use the ray tracing. Ive managed to get away with everything on high including all rtx options aswell. The key is not to use ultra and only go up to high. Put dlss on balanced. This works for me atleast. 3080ti 16 gb ram. Hope this helps someone obsessed w rtx aswell lol
Thank you very much, I managed to get the game to run at a very stable 60 fps with my 3050 in medium graphics
I must have missed something, after you went back into the engine file what is it that you pasted at the bottom? Nothing happened for me there.
Anyone else having fps drops on ps5 performance mode? It started when I went to hogsfield. If I exit the game and enter again it fixes it but after a while it comes back. I havenât had any issues with any other game.
Really thank you very much bro. I tried many ways to fix the FPS drop but it didn't work.
I didn't change anything in the PC Settings, I changed the Game Settings as you did. Surprisingly, there is no FPS drop now.
If you take my PC Specs i5 11th gen, RTX 3060 12GB, 16GB RAM (8Ă2).
OMG, THANKS so muuuch,
It worked like a charm :c i can now play in pace and enjoy the game
u are a hero !!
And if u have 8gb of vram?
I have a question for some reason for the first one I canât
See the gpu schedule thing how do I pop that out?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

bro u made made my day !
Yeah, exactly as requested, thanks mate! đ
hey! i thought about it and decided to make the video you asked for. i hope this helped you
@@MillLiveGamingv2 the config file did the trick to make it more smooth running , many thanks!
Thanks man it worked
Sir, you are a life saver. Thank you very very much. May Merlin bless you
TYSM, it worked, my 3070 couldn't even handle 40 fps in hogsmede with the lowest settings, now it runs 60 fps with ur settings!
it worked perfectly on mine thank you so much
crashing and getting an error saying out of video memory trying to allocate rendering source.
I am running i5-9600k
Zotac 3070 OC 8GB
16 GB RAM
any thoughts?
I followed the guide and despite of not removing the jitters and freezes entirely but it's better than nothing at all.
thank you so much, this as very helpful.
what if you have 8gb should you set it to 3072 or 4096???
i cant see the hardware accelerated GPU scheduling on and off switch, any reason why?
Thank you it works đ
why would you want it on amd fsr 2, it changes the rendering resolution to way lower than native
my bro i have a gtx 1650 laptop with an i7 10750H and 16gb of ram.. it stutters in hogwarts mainly but in other inner areas it doesn't do you think the pc settings you gave will help ?
Im strugling a bit in the 2â28ââ when you scroll all the way down and click paste. But nothing was previously coppied to be pasted.
Sorry for my terrible english. Brazilian here kkkk
I'm running a 3070ti with an AMD Ryzen 9 and the game still lags on me on high graphic settings
You made my game better đâ€â€â€â€ thank you
No stutter for me now. Thank you very much!!
so u said less that 8bg and more then 8gb but my gpu has exactly 8 gb SO WHAT DO I DO
Just fixed it for a friend u put 3072 go to graphic settings, advanced then the i think âgpoâ settings on okay after that if u use nvidia do exactly as in the video then set the porcess priority to high on hogwarts legacy. go to properties and run kompatibility in windows 8 and tick start as admin after that restart should work perfect my friend went from having 20 fps in hogsmead and 10 fps in some cutscenes to playing on full ultra settings about 80-100 fps still good for the fact the game isnt even completely compatible for pc ah and btw in game we used Nvidia DLSS ! if u guys are doing it together with teamviewer close it and ull see the differenceâ
Idk but high materials, textures and view distance have me pegged at 11.5 gb vram constantly lol
When I get the the engine page and scroll all the way down I donât have the system settings at the bottom and idk what Iâm supposed to âpasteâ
Ahhh never mind I see it in the description!
I can't find the folder it doesn't appear as you have in the video
THANK. YOU. My RTX 3060 laptop is way less hot and it's playable, even the fights play at 60 fps! Thanks a bunch, you rock, dude!
Well I have a 2060s should I keep that streaming pool size to 3072 or crank up to 4096?
Dude, this is so fucking good, thank you so much, I was not enjoying the game but now it works really well.
Its Work THANK U SOOOOOO MUCH â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Well i sort of have the same specs as you... And my game has always been pretty playable since release after upgrading the DLSS version... But I still get some sort of stutters when in Hogsmeade e.g. or when I open those collectors chests...
Thx a lot! Finally a really solution to the obrobious optimization of devs! Bravo
Textures don't load in game characters faces looks ugly....how to change it
i got a 1660 super rog and ryzen 5 3400g.. why i cannot play? crashin everywhere
nothing seems to be working for me :( ive spent more time trying to fix my game then playing the game
Why on earth would you use FSR instead of DLSS on NVIDIA card?
Thank you, helped with stuttering and FPS drops
Where can I find your desktop wallpaper?
Iâm using a 6800XT and am getting horrible frame rate drops especially outdoors, especially in Hogsmeade. But also pretty much everywhere.
THIS WORKS AWESOME. Now I can finally play 4k 60 fps native resolution all ultra (cept material quality low due to white bushes bug on 7900xtx). before it was dipping down to 64 with same settings. THis really works!! Only problem is is when i move camera left and right it has ghosting, any settings to fix that?
I have an Rtx 3070, i5 12600k and 16gb ram and it's unplayable for me.. the first hour of gameplay was fine but for some reason the game started stuttering with 1 fps lows..
Your video shows exactly the problem at 7:20
Big stutter and fps drop.
I have 3080ti and I donât see a huge difference in frames between Ultra to Medium. Its those damn stutters and lags.
I was about to cry. You saved me.
THANK YOU! I can finally play the game đ
I had like 40 fps (sometimes 15) and I was angry beacuse I have gtx 1660 super so a pretty good card, thanks to your settings now I have 80-120 fps and the game looks so beautiful and textures are amazing! Thank you so much beacuse that is really the Best compromise
@Nick Virago lol
@Nick Virago what are you talking about? it's perfect card for this time
I tried this and it didnât work faramerates actually dropped down i think the best way is to have a ram limiter and ascendo mode to reduce the usage of the ram because its the main problem
Hello! When I went to the NVIDIA Control Panel I don't have an option for 'Shader Cache Size", mine only says "Shader Cache" and only has an On or Off option. Is that okay? Or is there a different way I should proceed? Thank you!
You should find it in the manage 3D Settings tap. Maybe itâs in a different order. I can look up later to find this setting.
What does the Shader Cache Size do?
No fps counter, but i wanna test this.
I played in all medium, except texture (ultra), and i have 60 fps, without dips.
ryzen 5 3600 and rtx 3060.
Edit: i try the fix and is a less sluttering, but same fps with my settings. IDK if this is a placebo.
And if graphic cards have exact 8gb of ram?
what if we have 8gb ? no less and not more ?
Are you sure the shader cache thing is safe? Idk
i have exactly 8gbs on my gpu do i put 4096 or what
Wait ur running ultra or the setting u have on the video
