@@ibrahimhashlamon6994if you would like to hear Muslim intellectuals speaking (or writing) on this all you need do is look. There are plenty from Zaytuna and Cambridge Muslim college. The point of going through this book is that it brings many very complex things together in one place with a succinct explanation, and that the author, a Christian, is coming from an outside perspective having studied intensively shariah, and even he agrees that shariah is the optimal governing system.

We must begin, each of us, to make our homes and our families a sanctuary where the teaching and practice of the Quran is primary: developing the discipline and mindset of the importance of the five daily prayers which can and should lead to taqwa - the foundation of Islamic society.

As children, we play football, soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, etc. for fun. We role play as cops and robbers or superheroes for fun.
Professional athletes play the same games we played for fun for a hefty paycheck. Actors role play like children for hefty paychecks.
Mother's who stay in their homes are workers. They are just not working for a paycheck. They are working to keep their house and family strong and secure from negative outside influences. They are working to raise their children above the low standards of modern society.
Poor man holds up a sign that reads, "Will Work For Food"
Materialist man holds up a sign that reads, "Will Work For Money"
Muslim man holds up a sign that reads, "Will Work For All Things Good & True and Against All Evil & Falsehood For The Sake Of Allah."
Everyone works. The difference is in what we work towards and why we do it.

However, brother Tom mentioned a few personal comments / agreements that could have employed more inferences / reflections in light of Divine teachings; and which can bring successful ways out of the unexpected or un thought of. May Allah SWT increase us all in beneficial use of HIS Supreme Guidance and companionship Aameen. Moreover, In these modern times there is an Shariah compliant Islamic State in the making which needs practical / consultative / scholarly support of Islamic Academia and can give modernity a miraculous beacon of morality and Islamic ideology in an exemplary manner while all others are seemingly hell bent to mold this state towards their defined governance systems. I hope you could take an initiative in this regards insha Allah. May Allah's blessings be with all of us. Aameen

One thing i think is missing from the argument for apostasy punishment is that you (or rather Halaq) did not take under consideration some disbelievers that also live with the Muslims in an Islamic society. If the argument is that apostates are a danger to the fabric of society because they are no longer kept in check via the shared islamic moral values, then this surely also applies to disbelievers who were never Muslims to begin with. Yet those disbelievers are left in peace as long as they dont transgress against the rest of society.

The reason why the kuffaar are able to mess with the lexicon and change the meanings of words is because of their extensive propaganda machine.
They only need that because they have a logically weak argument.
We have a strong argument so we don't need to play games with language like that. We just need to know our facts and remind them of their own hypocrisy. Then whoever Allah guides will see it for what it is

Very well spoken in the matters of " the Deen". The question is, which Deen is he talking on. Definitely not the Deen according to Allah.
He speaks on a Deen created by men, like him, who have put this laws, the such of apostasy law, which is, literally, whomsoever doesn't pray their 5 daily salaats must be killed because he, the person who don't pray, is considered an outlaw of their Deen.
Now the question is, does Allah asks that? The answer is NO.
Proof; sura Al Imran Aya 90 and sura annisaa Aya 137.
It is up to Allah to punish whosoever disbelieves after he's believed. Not up to any man.
See, these kind of people preach a religion parallel to that which Allah has asked.
Sura Al Imran Aya 19 which says in it "the Deen according to Allah is Islam" and here Allah means Deen as a way of living and not religion as they claim. Islam is a peaceful way of living amongst mankind. The root word for Islam is "silm" translating to peace and not submittion as they claim. Alla has created man with a free will of choice. To believe or not to believe.
But no, they have made man a slave of Allah, their Allah not the Allah of the Qur'an but the Allah of their books. Even the messenger whom they preach about is not the messenger of the Qur'an but of their creation.
Who gave them the right to judge others.

Prof. Wael Hallaq is a distinquished professor at Columbia University and he is the most cited author in his field, over 10000 times which make him the best scholar on Islam in today's world!
The religion of the scholar is unrelated and has nothing to do of being the best scholar on Islam!

I believe President Obama was referring the Western perception that women are not given THE OPTION of contributing to society outside the home in Saudi Arabia. If half of the country's geniuses are not allowed to exercise their genius it is society's loss. If the Muslim response is that no women are geniuses, I have to reject that. My personal experience rule's that conclusion out. I have known several female geniuses who have made the world a better place through their work outside the home. I'll wager that you rely on and take for granted many elements provided to you by women who operate outside the home, while criticizing the idea of women providing those to you outside the home.

The author of the book cited is clueless about economics. The corporation is an economically essential format for undertaking large-scale projects beyond the capacity of one or, sometimes, a thousand individuals. It makes it possible to issue shares in proportion to one's resources. More important, investors may unexpectedly need liquidity, and corporations obtain funds for long-term investments while the investments of individual investors could be short-term if they so desire. There are a host of other benefits. Without limited liability, it is not possible to have a modern economy. Mindless insistence on tradition means we must ride on donkeys instead of cars. The problem arises when we conclude the knife is bad because someone used it to commit murder. We need to look deeper into the causes of immorality.
Throughout history, the core problem of society has been excessive wealth, giving rise to a plutocracy (in the Quran: So as not to arise a state of the wealthy amongst you). Therefore, wealth is necessary for economic advancement, but we must limit it to prevent it from becoming a tool for political dictatorship and all the abuses that follow from it, such as monopolies, wars, etc.

Logic fail. "without limited liability it's not possible to have a modern economy." That's the whole point, the modern economy is slaughtering the earth quickly and all of us as well, it is an existential threat that must be radically reconfigured. Are you going to tolerate an existential threat for short-term liquidity? Are you going to saw off the branch upon which you sit in order to harvest wood? Keep your head up! Think bigger!
