Fitting CarPlay to a B8 Audi S4.
The same module will work with Audi S4 / A4 / A5 /Q5 / Q3 /A3 / S3 / S5.

Can’t recommend this unit enough. Installed today and works perfectly! Really pleased with it. Of course like anything there are always cheaper options but if you want quality this product and the team at AES we’re first class! Great install vid too and fast, on hand advice if you get stuck. Ordered one and just got it installed. Works as expected. Installation had a few tricks that aren't obvious from the video but Nathan was great in answering my questions...normally within a few hours (impressive when you consider the 16 hour time zone difference between us!). Overall the hardest part of the install was removing the glovebox (mine had 11 screws...2017 S5). Also, make sure you buy quality removal tools! I bought mine from Amazon (not Audi originals...and the shape is ever so slightly different from good ones) and they are now stuck in the radio. Two audio shops haven't been able to remove them, and I'm going to the dealer next for them to try. Bottom line is I now have Android Auto/Carplay in my Audi after having been told by several vendors it wasn't an option. Great support from Nathan as well.
Update 9/26: had to pay dealer $200USD for an hour of labor to get the damn tools removed!

Instead of this, i put a Samsung tabS6 Into my b8.5. 10.5" screen, plus the original screen. Has everything you could ever want, plus it is a 2560x1600 super Amoled screen. Connects via blue tooth, or you can get a cable to connect it to your system. You can pick them up for $419 from Samsung right now. Instead of paying the extra $200 for the lte version, i just use my phones hotshot for internet connection, and can stream movies, youtube, audio, etc. on the go.

I have same box in my B8 2010 but sound quality is bad and flat.. my 10£ radio bluetooth receiver have much better sound.. any solution?
Yes, use our kit. We have never had a sound issue :)
Great vid and good work on install bro. But 1 Q, how do you interact with Waze and Google Maps w/o a touch screen i.e like scroll, enter destination or even the equivalent of clicking some of the on screen icons?

I had to remove my radio to work on something else. Now i cannot control my Carplay unit from the Audi radio OEM controls. I must have unplugged something but I am not sure what cable it is. I do have video and audio but cannot move inside Carplay. All Audi OEM functionality work just fine. If I press the Nav button couple of times it will no go into Carplay, only when I connect via bluetooth then i can see the Carplay, once in Carplay i cannot move around and pretty much get stuck. What cable i need to check?

Awesome video, thanks! Is the AMI to Aux adapter absolutely necessary or is it enough to activate Aux instead of AMI in the hidden menue under diagnose/settings/AMI/AUX?
I’ve not tried to activate via green menu. If you can, then no need. But probably easier to just plug something into the AMI port it’s all dinosaur tech now 😂
I have this box, but keep getting 0,3amp continuous consumption from battery, running out of energy in 4 or 5 days. Is there any option I should consider to turning it off when the key os removed? Any help would be appreciated.

I got a square shaped microphone in my package and I couldn't get it to fit in the light panel? Am I just an idiot or what? I've seen people got round shaped microphone and that looks like it will fit mine. Have I got the VW and not Audi?

What do you suggest for Porsche Cayenne 2003 with PCM1 installed, require also Fader functionality and all this box can provide?
And where do you get this module? The link in the description (which was vague as it just says "get in touch" and not something more obvious like "buy here") doesn't give you the ability to purchase that I can see. I see a section where you can watch integration videos like this one, but nowhere to actually purchase

What if my car does not have the NAV button? How do I activate the system?
I ordered one years ago and I forgot i had it. Believe its a chinese clone, no instructions. On the main can bus plus theres 2 smaller wires with a female and male clip .. any idea what this is? I connected them together and nothing seem to change.
Installed this in 2015 S4 B8.5, can’t get to the car play display by pressing the nav button twice it just pulls it up whenever I plug my phone into the usb but can’t use the oem joystick to control anything, any suggestions?
Hello! Please send me photos of the blue wire and what you’ve tapped it on to. And the module comes with a sheet of paper, which has a small chart on the bottom with dip switch settings. Did you say something about having to mount another microphone? It doesn’t just use the factory microphone?
DTM H No it doesn’t. However for Bluetooth calls you still use OEM Bluetooth and mic. This external mic picks up voice commands

Jason Millanaise these ones are made in China. I would say do your research and do not go for the cheap ball park $200 dollar modules. They’re terrible.

Does your recognize if it‘s night or day? Mine doesn‘t so apple Maps is always in light mode which is very annoying if it‘s night. Anybody knows a fix?
Robin That sounds to me like a phone setting surely?? It’s CarPlay related but comes from the phone. I’d check phone settings
Robin Just done a quick google search. Seems that if the phone is in light mode, maps stays in light mode and if in dark mode maps stays in dark mode? What IOS are you on? I’ll test this also

Jimmy Li Hmm depends what kit they have used. But if it’s the same as mine. When you watch the video. There is a cable I connect to the quad lock - on the module it says MMI - that wire probably has not been connected. It’s important it is connected. Just touch the screen to see they didn’t add a touch screen instead. Some people use the touch screen method. Audi B8 MMI controller is better because the screen is recessed

Hey mate! Yep it’ll work you just need to go for the system which NON mmi and then with the AMI option. Note you need to add a touch panel to the factory screen (overlay) and CarPlay used via touch screen :)

I have a A5 2015 without the B&O system. I am in Canada. So base and same setup than in the car in the video. I am looking for something to improve sound quality. Will this increase sound quality or do nothing for sound cleanness and quality? Any solution available to improve sound quality? I already changed all speakers, and it improved but not much. Thanks m
Francois Ducharme Hi mate! Won’t help the sound unfortunately. What speakers did you put in? Are they amplified?
@@TheFittingBay thanks for the reply. They were fosgate speakers. I am running them off the base amp so no, they are not amplified. I simply swapped the oem Units with new speakers. Sound improved just a little. I think the quality issue is because of the oem amp or headunit (it’s not the B&O). Let us know if there are any options in this situation for improving the sound quality. I am not looking for loud thumping power, just clarity and “richness”
Francois Ducharme Easy! Rockford Fosgate make great speakers. Did you replace all speakers? (Front + tweeters and rear). I would be looking at a Rockford 4CH amplifier to power those speakers and possibly a small under seat subwoofer or small box in the boot. It’ll be what you’re looking for in sound quality 👌🏽
The Fitting Bay Hi again. I replaced all speakers. From your reply, are you telling me I can replace the oem amp with a Rockford amp? How do I do this, wiring wise? Do you have a wiring diagram to connect the speakers to the new amp? Sorry to be dense but I thought the wiring between the oem head unit to the amp in the trunk was such (I.e. special) that you could not change any component. Thank you for explaining.

Hi, great video....what did you plug into the AMI in the glove box? Looked like the jack from the green connector connected into the audio connection on the power
James Cartmell Correct! The green plug in the quadlock connector is for audio. You just need an AMI>AUX plug. You can get them online or even at a parts store. The reason for that is so you can select AUX from sources. If nothing plugged in to AMI the AUX source is unavailable

I get this and it's an Audi TSB: if it rattles for less than 3 seconds on a start it's not an issue
