    I watched a couple of other videos on the Kohler product. Yours is the only one to mention three things: 1) bar code thing 2) These seals are available from a "big box" store 3) Water level not going below the valve opening. Thank you

    Great advice! However, when it came to removing the canister, I felt more comfortable lifting the canister up, holding the center post below the canister, and turning the post at that point. When I tried to turn from the top, the resistance was too great and I was afraid I would break it. Turning from the hold at the bottom was very easy, as long as it is the type where the whole canister has to be removed at the same time, and not just the "cap" and then the canister.

    Before you attempt this, make sure to also check the little plastic vertical piece that can be turned right or left on the fill valve (in my case it was to the left of the cylinder they show at this video). That can be adjusted to the fill level and apparently mine has crept up and was letting water run all the time. It has a philips head on top for philips screwdrivers. adjust that first.

    After several tries flushing the device on the left, also with yellow lid, I took apart the large Aqua Piston Seal on the right, as this video explains, I cleaned and reseated the yellow ring seal at the bottom of the black cylinder (piston?). Thanks to the downloadable manual from the scan code, which says just to clean it FIRST, the system stopped losing water and refilling and is now working. There was not much visible gunk on either item. I took off the yellow seal at the bottom of the large pistion (to which the flush handle is connected (quite challenging), and reseated the ring at bottom of the black cylinder.

    Great videos. My problem is a bit different. First flush is fine, but the refill is very slow and sometimes incomplete. If I turn the water supply completely off, and then back on, the fill is fast and complete. Next flush, normal, but refill again is slow and incomplete. This repeats over and over. I removed the yellow cap, and the valve assembly, flushed it, and cleaned the rubber seal, reassembled. The problem persists. What might be the problem.

    I have a Santa Rosa Kohler and did this exact fix which worked but I'm also seeing that the big black foam 'flush valve gasket" at the bottom of the tank is also disintegrating. I've heard people have problems doing that fix because of it being hard to unscrew and then screw down the canister afterwards inside the tight confines of the tank. In my case I'm probably going to not fix it until it actually fails, since the toilet is a one piece if it does fail it would just leak into the bowl which is not a big deal whereas the same leak in a two piece would go all over the floor.
    Do you have any tips on fixing the flush valve gasket? The Kohler gasket part is GP83996

    Hi,
    I have a Kohler toilet. I have had the filler tube pop out occasionally without reason. The re is no cap on the canister. How can I make sure the filler tube stays in place?

  • @yerim8371

    My cylinder keeps hitting the the tube connecting to the yellow part! Causing it to fly off and refill water somewhere else. What do I do?

    • @hammerpine
      @hammerpine  Před 2 lety

      One piece toilets have a different attachment mechanism. This video may help : czcams.com/video/4H9s7DLC22o/video.html In that video, the flapper along with the flush housing and gasket are replaced.

    Unfortunately the top cap doesn't come off on mine. I can still replace the seal if necessary. The toilet is about 6-8 years old (1.6 gallon flush) with the original parts and it still works fine. Of course it will probably fail two days after I post this!

    • @kathleenk2381

      Mine doesn’t come off, either. How are you able to replace the seal?

  • @stevenmoomey2115
    @stevenmoomey2115 Před 3 lety

    The instructions are on the back of the package. If not and the Seal is Shrink Wrapped, rather than in Plastic Bubble, you got a Knock-off. Also I’m suspicious that the seal in this video is a Knock-off as the newer Kohler Seal are Yellow and Chemical Resistant.
