Oh wow! I think the Australian 24 hour is the largest ration you can get! So many different things to eat! Way more than you can consume in a day unless of course you are in the field under high activity scenarios. Fun to watch and your one liners are on point! Too funny Miss white and fine 🤣. And I love the Australian theme ratings! Good work out of you Ashley! I look forward to seeing the next one!

This is a great idea. Interesting stuff on the military ration.
Great review Schlee. These are fantastic rations. The chocolate ration is supposed to be a chocolate bar. There was no austrailian shovel in there. I have extra chocolate bars and austrailian shovels if you want them. The can opener/ spoon is a FRED, field ration eating device. Mains are great and that bread is soooo my favorite. Glad you had a great meal!

Or as also known in the ADF as a FRED:Fucking Ridiculous Eating Device! They're a classic and been around so long I think we included them for nostalgic reason or for respect of the ANZACs that was thier only option.
@pek5117 lol. It really is a ridiculous eating device but the can opener is a great bonus!
@mikekreischerreviews3420 yeah the lil can opener is why it's kinda famous, while being a really bad spoon it's also a can opener and helps with MREs
I saw Vegemite on an MRE video about 15 years ago and decided that I just had to try it. Ordered a small jar and prepared it the correct way with toast and butter and Vegemite. First reaction was the same as yours, too salty and kind of icky. Couple of weeks later tried it again it tasted a lot better. After a few more tastings I would start looking around in early morning to find the vegemite to start the day. I'm actually having VegiToast for a midnight snack while watching this video lol Keep up the good work!
P.S. I think the cream crackers name is referring to the way the mixture is creamed during manufacture.
I tried too much my first time and was overwhelmed. Tried it again in small doses and I love it. It's very savory and adds alot of flavor.

Vegemite (and Marmite) are best on buttered toast, makes it much easier to chuck in the trash! I would have found it difficult to eat, even after 3 days in the bush on a rescue.
These are great rations! Although I wasn't the biggest fan of the lamb stew. I really liked the Vegemite! I love all the Aussie ratings 😆 Awesome Schlee!

I bet chocolate in the casserole / stew would be pretty good. I make red chilie (Texas Red, chilie con carne, depending on where you are from) and I will add a small amount of cocoa power or chocolate chips and it is amazing!

I have only lucked into 1 of these. They and German Einmannpackug , tie as overall favorites ever. I have some warning's, but since you are posting, too late. Go light on vegemite. LOL. Leftovers, use to soups to add salt flavor. SCM , is best multitasker ever! Surprised, no Mi goering noodles? Cheese is excellent. Multi tool is FRED. Field Ready Eating Device. Has other names, but not suitable here, LOL. Meals and components look awesome. Glad you enjoyed most. Peace from Kentucky, John. P.S., you still have snacks, LOL. PPS, Banana Bread sounds awesome.

Great review Schlee, admittedly I'm not that impressed with the Australian ration as you are, but I've eaten quite a few more than you have over the years! they are good though and encompasses a wide variety of tastes.
Those Jam, biscuits you were fond of have been around for a very long time in our ration packs and have been known as "F Off" biscuits, purely because that's what you would say if your mate would ask if they could have yours!
Oh, and that cheese spread is not cheese spread. It's basically a lump of processed plastic cheese jammed into a little can!

yes, it was McKay's! in my opinion they can't be beat for used books!! :)
Love Aussie rations. Just wish they swapped potatoes for rice, as much more practical, eg used as a savoury or sweet.

I would give the ration 5 australian sheperd's! I've had one of the spoon openers on my car keys for over a year, we gave them away at a church food bank. I never used it and people thought it was a coke spoon, I used the smaller US version on cans I heated up on back of steam engine, takes getting use to. My grandmother in oregon had plums i never ate them. Was repacking my get home bag in case of a tsunami or earth quake , think that spoon is going in my bag. Rotated out the canned chunky soup and beans for mountain house stuff (never shortage of water on oregon coast). I added Werther's sugar free (I'm diabetic) to the food ration, little box about size of pack of smokes. One of the things I added was some lighthouse TP from MRE's. Like this youtube this is a long comment. I would like that ration, think I could get 2 days out of it. How much did it weigh?
in total it weighed almost 4lbs!!! chunky boy!
