Bought the A50 Gen4s, lasted a year before they no longer could find their dock. Went back to Steelseries with their Arctis Nova Pro, and they are of a much higher quality overall, with much better sound.

Using them only with USB is like wasting your money, but buying the adapter to use their full power is sacrificing the hdm 2.1 features so it's not worth it. That's why I'm waiting for a40/a50s gen 5 which will hopefully release 2023.

@@NomadFlair because the adapter supports hdmi 2.0.
So by using a40s or a50s on PS5, you can't do 120hz@4k, you can't use VRR. You are limited to 1080p@120hz with no VRR..
@@MacikSeba I just bought the a50's today and learned the hard way about all of this. Had to go back to the store to buy the adapter. I think I will return everything and pick up a cheap set until gen 5 comes out just like you mentioned.
@@pedrogregorio there is a HDMI 2.1 adapter, but it's $100+ hahah so yea I'm waiting for gen 5 too.
If you want to use optical without sacrificing hdmi2.1 just connect the optical cable to the back of your tv. Then on the ps5 output you put av amplifier, 5.1, dolby. And you'll be able to use all capabilities of the astro a50 (dolby, presets, etc) On your TV you have to make sure the sound goes through Optical obviously.
Foam padding at the top popped out 3 weeks after buying them and could never stay back in was so frustrating

I got my Astro A50 a year ago and the headband cushion piece broke off within a week so I got a replacement and that also broke but I still rate the headset comfy even without a head piece
Had the same issue i really just put the piece in Place right and glued it. Its been a year and never had a problem again. Well i issued a strong glue so👍
People sell 3d printed clips on ebay that hold it in place. It cost me £8.99 for a pack of 2. It's a very common problem.

I loved my gen 2 a50s, the only problem i had was people in my party complained my headset was too loud and that they could hear everything i was hearing.

I have mine for a month and the cushion on top won’t stay connected and when I move my head or put any pressure on my headphones the cushion comes out and I don’t know how to keep it connected to the headphones.
I got this one too. It is has a nice sound, but for me a headset should not be that expensive.
Only problem is the damn hdmi 2.0 compatibility. So you have to buy an adapter to try to get 120 and it really hard for it to work. So if sound is more important than graphics then get them. Although the new ones are coming soon

I love mine even tho they do have their problems mine had alot of issues reconnecting to the base station easy fix for me is power cycle the base station or hard reset the headset itself gamemixer plus dolby button for 25sec but now my mic isnt pickin up my voice so time to update i guess i do wish i could replace the mic i love them even with the querks
Great headset but i have 2 big issues.
The headset does not connect to the app on my pc as astro say my motherboard is too new which is strange.
Also the chat mix has never worked on pc only on playstation

How the hell your a50’s break? They are the most durable headset I ever used… unlike the the Steel Series Pro.
Except for the shoddy build quality (headband falling out) and poor dock connection (having to dance to get it to charge) they’re pretty good. PC38X smokes them however!
Battery will die in exactly 1 year and 2 months of use and I’ve had 3 pair the battery is not easily replaced they aren’t making a new design cause this one makes money

i have a ps5 so i can’t change the audio setting and the audio quality on the astro a20s sounds much better then these. it’s so muffled and i think i can’t do anything about it because i don’t have a pc
I’m not sure if the a20s are as flexible in customisation as the Astro 50s

You need the adapter Astro sells (or any 3rd party one) that converts hdmi to optical to be able to split the voice / game volume and have that button be able to work again as a splitter rather than an overall “master volume” button that it is for you now

Alot of people say that they break easily. Not if you take care of them. I've had my gen 4 astro a50s for about 3 years now amd they still work very well. Worth it in my opinion

I play on the sony inzone M9 4k 144hz monitor that doesnt support an optical slot. Should i use dolby or linear in ps5 settings ? What about the base station dolby or star icon?
I connect the dock to the ps5 using a usb cable, no need for an optical cable

Hey mate, I got the a50s last year and have barely used them over my pulse 3ds because of 3d audio, do you have it setup with the optical cable on ps5? With my setup I can't connect with optical and I'm not sure if I'm just better with the pulse 3ds
On my old TV I used the optical, whereas with my new monitor I don’t use the optical cable. Also I posted a video in regards to the audio settings for the astros which you can also copy.
Get a good HDMI/optical splitter and use it with the Astro a50 dac. In my opinion it is way better then the internal 3D Sound of the ps5.

@@corsair1675 hi, yes that is a problem. That is why I connected my PS5 to the OLED directly and then get optical audio from the TV. Otherwise you need to search for a Splitter with HDMI 2.1 Ports. Or you pass through the HDMI ARC from the TV to a splitter after the TV and extract the optical signal here 🤔

Astros are known to stretch. I’ve used A40s for over 5 years and comfy asf. Bought A50s and they are tight but its just due to being new. They will get comfier over time.

Nah bro. I used to have the a50. Bought the arctis because of the compatibility with the old astros. The arctis are way more uncomfortable then the atros because of that shit anc bump. So glad the new astros don’t have anc. I didn’t get me order yet but I am confident that the new astro will be way superior to any gaming headset in the next few years

As long as it is for sound quality, I agree. Other features are crap. My advice for anyone purchasing this miserable device is to not update the firmware, like forever. Ever since I updated firmware, I get inconsistent volume adjusments from the volume wheel, and the base station led going off when adjusting the volume. Every time I use this crap, I have to force reset the device like more than ten times a day.
