Your car is right hand drive version and those from Ali Express are left hand drive. I also get the same issue and I have to use back the original shift boot. At the end I change to Black Forest.
How did you manage to restaple the leather to the (old) plastic frame? What machine did you use? And was it at a low power setting? Helpful video, but I broke the frame from my new replacement shifter. Looking fwd to your reply.

Hello mate, I just used a conventional desktop stapler, open the stapler outwards and just press down on the surface, your stapling, it works fine.

The one on AliExpress was wrong, I had to use the original VW plastic.

No mate, you need ignition on to move the stick down.
