Few years back when I started publicly criticising politicians and was promoting NOTA there was a question asked to me everyone “NOTA ko vote dene se accha hai vote hi mat de” and I used to try to make them understand that it’ll bring change. Finally that day had come NOTA will surely bring the change in our country we must show this politicians that we Indians aren’t fool we won’t sell our valuable vote for few bucks or quarter of alcohol.

In my opinion the entire election process is flawed in India. There shall be no party system at all. Election shall be conducted right from every block. Everyone who is willing to get elected must prepare a roadmap of how one will contribute towards the block in a time bound manner. From every block only 4 best chosen by people must move forward to ward level, councillor level, to city level, to district level, to state level n to national level. At all levels the candidate will have the same selection process. Everyone will hv.to prepare the ppts. with time bound. Thus at the lok sabha n rajya sabha level every state shall send top most suitable candidates n all these candidates will again prepare a comprehensive ppt. With all time bound result oriented prog.. At every level everyone's performance will be evuallated n
Country is not a company. Your solution would decrease the distance between aristocracy and beaurocracy which will be a nightmare. Also, party system is needed for political stability. Also, Party System isn't the fault, First Past the Vote is. It was the reason behing Congress' popularity in all those years and current popularity of BJP. Single transferable Vote is a way better option in my opinion.

It's not about who wins. Its about the margin with they win. If they win with a big margin, they will take extreme positions. If they see there are thousands of NOTA votes, they will take less extreme positions in order to attract your vote.

Suppose the winning candidate gets 40% vote, the second candidate gets 30% vote, 20% NOTA and 10% people don't turn up to vote. The guy with 40% will win but the game will start to change after the election. The opposition will improve their policies to get support from this 20% NOTA vote bank as that can make them win in the next election. Thus the winner too will be forced to change their policies and attitude accordingly. The overconfidence that politicians show nowadays will be gone.

On second thoughts, since NOTA does not guarantee dismissal of existing candidates or cause a reelection, and the prevailing political climate not conducive for such electoral experiments given that such measures may directly play into the hands of communal parties who are bent on jeopardizing our democracy and its cherished institutions and simultaneously curb our rights and freedoms , it would indeed be wise to go for a secular pan-India entity this time round.
However, this is not to deny the fact that the points you have mooted are right!

I'm a first time voter and I am pretty sure I'm opting NOTA. I know who is winning from my constituency, the same person who has been for last 2 elections, the same person who is Minister of Urban Development and Housing Dept who couldn't do much for his "Smart City" constituency. Also I know for the fact that the opposition is gonna be worse. So I Know my NOTA won't play a decisive role but the election commission is asking me my choice and my CHOICE is None Of The Above. Not Everytime someone, you vote for, wins and you live under someone you didn't want. I am just registering my choice officially, way better than abandoning elections.

How many people who vote for nota actually know anything about the candidates they are rejecting? Voting for nota is like saying "they all seem bad to me. Even though I don't have the guts to stand for the election myself." The path of inaction is the worst. We have to choose the candidate best among the available. Nota may have a noble purpose but it is practically useless in India. Well educated people go for nota, those who are not so knowledgeable and are paid well by worst politicians participate in the actual decision and end up choosing the worst. No political party is ideal and no politician is ideal. But to practically make a difference in the society we have to choose someone to run this country.
If we are educated why should we choose anyone who is continuously fooling us atleast it's better to use brains rather than saying that if poor vote for worst we vote a person who is better than worst by this thinking no change will come as we clearly see in India😢😢, tight slap by voters is necessary for these politicians
As per you, if in Godhra Constituency, NOTA voters had voted against BJP, then their vote would have atleast made a difference.Voting for NOTA resulted in giving power to someone they did not wish for, I understand that we dnt want Congress in its current situation but at least we need a strong opposition.
