      Back in the day, I remember him benching 500 lbs on Mid Atlantic Wrestling. I also remember Andre the Giant took off his ring and the ring was so large that Tony could put two of his fingers thru it.

    Rest easy James "Kamala" Harris. I've listened to several interviews with him and he was such an humble man. He was in a wheelchair the last days of his life as he lost both legs to diabetes. It's amazing to see how different the man is from the ring persona.

    I’ll never forget being picked up as a 3 year old boy by TONY ATLAS as he exited the locker room at West Columbus High School in Cerro Gordo NC. It was 1979. He carried me all the way to the steps of the ring and gave me a pack of Grape Hubba Bubba; 3 pieces left. I felt like I was an Angel and I remember his win. Watching the match Tony had on purple tights and knee pads. The crowd whole gym chanting 1..2..3 as the referee hit the mat. It was incredible… Then the main attraction a young Ric Flair came out that locker room to his music playing. The girls was all over him. I literally wrapped myself around Ric Flairs thigh as a 3 year old boy. I’ve thought about that so many times. But this video takes me literally in my mind to that night. Jimmy Valiant, Black Jack Mulligan, The Great Kabuki and a few more. Female wrestler Diana Prince. OMG I remember how attractive she was the long dark hair, beautiful makeup. My my my I wish wrestling could be more like that again.

    Another great promo by Mr. USA Tony Atlas at the end, just like his heel turn at Angelo Poffo's ICW, when he gave another great promo against The Polish Power Ivan Putski. Ironically, it would be Hacksaw Jim Duggan who will chant “USA” on his arrival in WWE. Tony Atlas is a WWE Hall of Fame material.

      I didn't realize Tiny Atlas was such a great artist as well until I watched the vid of him talking about the night Bruiser Brody was knifed by Jose Gonzalez. He had some of his portraits laud out on a table and Brody saw them and was impressed and he gave him a pic of his son and asked him if he would mind drawing it. Then, minutes later, he was stabbed by Gonzalez.

    Tony was one of the first muscled-up wrestlers of that time.
    I'm told not all guys like him could hack it in the ring (many tried and failed).
    Most were not as athletic and/or had the cardiovascular systems to do 25-to-30min matches.
    Matches are much shorter these days and other wrestlers are more skilled in working around non-athletic big opponents.

    • @zombiefulci3301
      @zombiefulci3301 Před 10 měsíci

      It's not real athletic competition, that's why these guys can "wrestle" 60 mins. When these wrestlers go to MMA, that's when you see how poor cardio they really have as they suck wind the first 2 mins
