Change gears in the powerban and not the red line.

im not a car expert or anything. but what you say, does that mean that there's a set range of rpms where the torque and power delivers the most. i have heard that the torque doesn't always get the most power before the red line. so for say example, red line is 7,200rpm, but most torque delivers at 5,500 to 6,500rpm, after 6,500rpm you should shift gears? instead of waiting till 7,200rpm?

@@caominh2874 It depends on the car´s peak torque and hp.

@@josema6694 so if the peak torque is at 4,500rpm, but the redline is at 7,300rpm, you should just change gear when it reaches 4,500rpm?

It depends on the gearing. If you shift as soon as it hits the maximum power, you'll end up dropping off to much lower power and have to work up again. Whereas if you shift above where the next gear will be resting directly on the peak power. You could be super technical and researching into your gearing/powerband, etc for the sake of 0.3 seconds, or in the heat of the moment, just reach up to the redline.

@@caominh2874 I don't think that a car with a 7,300rpm redline gets peak power at 4,500rpms. That would be stupid.
