*Like so the Metalcore gods can bless us with more breakdowns and 578 plz*
may gods bless us all
Praise the Metalcore lords
Bullet for my valentine is just so great
@@pimpslapmyaunt7191 agreed
I see the description says a perfect mix between old school and modern metalcore, that's why theres a lot of "new" songs on there but weird to name it classics
To be fair... chelsea smile is a killer classic
Thats what im saying
The song that brought me to the metal genre
yes, my favourite metal song
I Used to Make Out with Medusa would have been a sick pick also
@@LudacritzTTVMedusa is deathcore
Clearly Spotify needs to hire Nik to curate the metal core playlists.
true
@@DannySlept No they don't cause he's not even old enough to know the classic metal core bands.
@@barrettdc1 what's the need to that? Did u really have to be old enough to do that? .-.
@@DannySlept yea I guess not. If you have a great ear for music you could just listen to the hundreds of metal core bands from the last two decades and compile a playlist. Sorry for being "ageist".
C'mon, Chelsea smile may not be the best classic metalcore song, but it's the trademark gateway core song of its day.
It was my second BMTH song ever. I’d also throw it in the mix for setting some form of prototype for what some bands are doing NOW. Like the electronic segments. While that has been a thing for awhile with Electronicore, it wasn’t common in the mainstream. Sorry for long reply 😂
The Breakdowns in it are sooo freaking awesome. Love it, but, Yeah, Sure Not the Best Metalcore Song. But hey, it's the opinion of Spotify, so who cares :D
True But imo, everything from Sempiternal would have been a better pick
@@alucard3317 I would consider that a bit recent still. Yeah 2013, but suicide season was their first metalcore-ish album, so it seems more logical considering "classic" despite their other very recent picks. At least they had It Never Ends on there from There is a Hell, which I honestly as an album consider more metalcore than Sempiternal.
Facts
I’m glad you mentioned white washed by ABR; that was their encore song when I saw them play live and lead vocalist for Erra joined in on it 😊
WHAT
I saw them last October, maybe on the same tour, and neither Jesse nor JT were anywhere to be seen while ABR were playing. Would've been insane!
@@aelarlightbringer6372 I saw them in Sayreville,NJ at the Starland ballroom it was during the phantom anthem tour. I believe it was the second round of their North America tour
Yeah I went to one of those shows and they didn't do that either...whitewashed was still sick tho
There’s so many songs on The Poison that need to be on this. The End, Spit You Out, Her Voice Resides, Room 409
The Poison is special, do you think “4 Words (To Choke Upon)” would be a good fit?
The whole album is fantastic. imo
@@scorpion0498 There's not a single bad song on that album.
10 Years Today too… so many GEMS besides Tears Don’t Fall that just don’t get any recognition
If we’re honest, Asking Alexandria had more that should of been on here
Nik is experiencing boomer time dilation - 2014 was 8 years ago mate, that qualifies as a classic in the metalcore time scale!
That's what I was thinking, like Pittsburgh (No intro) was a really good pick in my opinion, 8 years ago I was a freshman in HS, when I started getting into metalcore
Hate me but I’m kinda glad Chelsea smile is number one as it’s a metal core song that it feels like most of the playlists forget
BMTH deserve to be on the list and Chelsea Smile is a good one imo
My theory is that Nik actually makes these playlists for Spotify so he can make more content
Solid theory.
Bro, did you say Sheah Huloade instead of Shai Hulud? Every Dune fan secretly died hearing that.
From Autumn To Ashes was one of the most underrated bands of the scene..... completely unknown to a lot of people and they absolutely crush.
If you haven't listened to them, give them a run.
100% agree. Abandon You Friends was my introduction to them and holy shit was that album unreal.
agreed, I was surprised when they came up, he said he hadn't heard it.
Easily one of my fave post-hardcore/Metalcore bands of all time.
Seeing Poison The Well & From Autumn To Ashes made this old man very happy.
PTW is NOT metalcore though.. as much as I love them.
I mean.... Chelsea smile is a banger!
It is but there still are a number of superior songs off Sempiternal
shadow moses or it never ends would have been better picks imo
This is why I love my job. I get to play my music which is primarily deathcore and I've had a few customers come in and say things like "I like you taste in music" or "I wish grocery stores would play music like this while Upon a Burning Body plays from my Bluetooth speaker in a cupboard under the counter
The current top 6 is probably better now. It goes:
6. SECOND & SEBRING
5. My Curse
4. Shadow Moses
3. Carrion
2. Unholy Confessions
1. Tears Don't Fall
We just need Not the American Average to be replaced with The Final Episode (Let's Change the Channel) and for Two Weeks to be replaced with Six
Chelsea smile honestly deserved a top 5 place extremely easily, I can see that there are some songs that should’ve been on there, but it’s one of the best metalcore songs ever released
i got a secret!
All of Suicide season is awesome
Rose of Sharyn is unironically my favorite Killswitch Engage song
I mssn its unironicallh most people's favourite Killswitch song too though, one if the best things they've ever wrote, hence why it's always in there sets
Thank you Nik for the video! Got something new for my playlist, as it usually happens
I’m sad you didn’t even react to Bury Tomorrow and Of Mice & Men 😢 Love these 2. I’ll go in a concert in 3 days, it’s like a double concert in fact. Bury Tomorrow and August Burns Red right after 👌🤘
10000x better list than most "new *core" playlists out there
How do you just ignore between the buried and me at the beginning?? One of the best bands of all time!! They make prog metalcore but that morticai one is super heavy and a metalcore standard
Yeah, as a massive BTBAM fan I felt kinda offended
@@VasKurtas Literally stopped the video just to listen to Mordecai
Thats what I'm saying! I was gonna make a comment about this. BTBAM is one of the GOATs and I'm shocked they weren't mentioned. Smh.
I noticed the same and came here to comment the same. Glad to see that are some gentleman with fine taste here too.
It's prog death, so I'm guessing he ignored it because it's not really metalcore. I love that song so much though.
I heard it from one of Nik Nocturnal’s Spotify videos and I’ve stuck by it ever since:
SEMPITERNAL CARRIED THE 2010’s. Nik himself said itz
From Autumn to Ahses was underrated af. The Fiction We Live was a banger.
amazing band . the one that made me discover how you can have screaming on such melodic songs
Pioneers was on a repeat in my ipod back then, high school 2007
Well Chris did say his biggest inspiration for the way he screams is Bleeding Through’s lead singer
Please do more of these, I loved the video. Hilarious
Ascendancy was the birth of my love for metal, it dies today too mane saw them n throw down at warped. Great show
This had some good ones glad to see hopesfall up so high they are amazing and way underrated 😊
"Ive heard of FATA"....I've never felt older.....
White Washed is easily one of my favorite songs ever and the fact it wasn’t on here is incredible
Good video as always man
The fact aild only appeared once is criminal
Love that he just called that AA's song 'oh my god' 😂
One of my best friends growing up, Ryan, was in Memphis May Fire.
Was only when I saw ABR co-headlining with Bury Tomorrow in London a few weeks back that I realised that I've consistently listened to them for the last 10 years.
The ABR gap is unforgivable. And no Haste The Day?? Come on.
so much love for ABR... 7th Trumpet FTW!
I will say though.... creatures was and will always be my favorite album by motionless In White
And from Autumn to ashes? I used to listen to them a lot back in high school! They're actually really good
Spit you out , her voice resides , etc that whole poison album was a banger holy cow
Agreed. That whole album should have been on the list.
From Autumn to Ashes song shouldve been "The After Dinner Payback"
I would watch Frankie and the boyz practice across the street at his grandmother's house on Long Island back in 2008 ,they even sent me a signed copy of Abandon your friends( was in Iraq 05-06 ,when it came out.)
Backed. Song FUCKS
Yeah I never understood the love for short stories. Milligram smile or after dinner payback for sure.
Seeing old Oli in the cover, memories. I remember Chelsea Smile got me into the genre.
I was a teenager when the Poison came out and I listened to this for hours every day (my emule didn't work at that time so that added to my absolute agony of being young and depressed)
I'm mad that Attack Attack! was not on the list!
Crabcore song? Agreed.
parkway drive is a W
Fuck yeah, carrion is my fav song ever
Your edits are so funny
That From Autumn To Ashes track is nuts. It's really good. Give it a spin. I would describe it as a journey.
The entirety of Too Bad You're Beautiful is GOATed
One of the best bands ever tbh. I wish they had made more albums.
It fits perfectly
MIW's singer and Bleeding through's will always be fused together and i can never stop seeing from this day forth
chris from miw himself is a huge bleeding through fan and he likely learned screaming by trying bleeding through songs
the fact you didnt even mention between the buried and me. Im hurt :(
Are definitely NOT metalcore.
@@breadnaut3087are
so much fun to watch you rage :)
Nik it's not just 2000s metalcore, it's just iconic metalcore songs in general
@Nik Nocturnal - we need a Classic's or staples of metal from you!!!!
It would be amazing If you check out Brutus band from Belgium. They released recenty a new album, Unision Life and it's awesome. You can also try their older songs, for example "War". The main Vocalist Stefanie Mannaerts also play drums in this band. :D
Watching Niknoc going through a denial phase is so hilarious 😂
honestly a pretty solid list other than the order and other than picking Reincarnate over Abigail for MIW.
I feel dissapointed that he completely ignored mordecai by Between the buried and me
I feel like more than one person worked on that playlist, and only one person was cultured enough to add the BEST ones in the playlist
Man they didn't even add any As I lay dying's song from the album Shadows are security...Through Struggle, Confined and others, there are so many good picks and they missed it. NotLikeThis
Other than maybe 94 Hours, Forever is what put them on the map. I get your point, but I also understand the pick.
Idk I think BFMV’s All These things….. is a banger too. That entire album stomps.
Darkest hour first album was so damn amazing same with bleeding through
Literally anything off Thrill Seeker, Messengers OR FUCKING CONSTELLATIONS! They had so many choices
This reminds me of that one time Spotify put Green Day in classic rock
God, _Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child_ is such a sick album. Zao is a _strong_ choice and _Controller_ is one of my favorite albums of all time.
Honestly, not a bad list at all.
Truth!!! High noise low Output was my shit!!
Don't forget that Snapcase album! Caboose is just one of the absolute bangers from that one.
I remember having to explain that the album art for Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child wasn’t evil to my mom in high school 😂.
Not the American average is like top 2 from that album. Great list and excellent review. Giggled the whole time
I'm not a metal head at all but Nik's content is just *Chef's kiss*
i absolutely love ABR,even tho Paramount is a recent song that shit is Goated in my books, its perfect!
White washed by ABR was added to the Spotify playlist after you made this video. Thanks Nik!
Was that crazyfists I heard. They are my faves. Miss seeing them live
Totally sleeping on oh, sleeper too.
As a fellow product of Pennsylvania, ABR should have been on there at the top with Whitewashed... Matt G is the pinnacle of Metalcore drummers.
I still think I'm the one that started the Metalcore genre tag circa 2008
I think if Spotify is hireing hireing a new metalcore playlist super visor, that job, should go to you Nik.
Nik would be a great super visor
How many video effects would you like?
Nik: Yes.
You not mentioning Between The Buried And Me when they are crealry there in the first minute of the video hurt😭😭😭
Okay, I agree with like 100% of what you said. You read my mind with your suggestions out the gate of what had to be included. But, you had a huge "bruh" moment with not really knowing From Autumn to Ashes. (Side note: their choice was trash - should have gone with After Dinner Payback).
Much love though, Nik. 🤘
Hey Nik, have you ever before came across a heavy metal band If I Were You? They got a lot of bangers and are way too underrated and maybe you could react to them (my favorite are Paralysis, Silhouettes, Mourning, Broken, False Reality and Rescue Me :) )
I've got a good one. "Cold Haven - Sea Of Memories" - I think you'll like it!
Haste the Day was another metalcore band I loved in the 2000s
3:02 6:09 *happy Beartooth fan sounds*
A7X's Unholy Confessions has woken up an ultra-instinct in me while watching this list
super funny that he scrolled up and totally recognized the album cover at no. 1 (don't lie) and then scrolled back to no. 2 and then PLEEEASE SOME ABR... funny AF. great pick too
Dude the whitewashed bit at the end was amazing. That is a banger
“They finally die!” (RE - Every Time I Die)…. Cracked me up…. Lol
Nik to be the curator for ALL of Spotify's metalcore playlists
You skipped Between The Buried And Me Mordecai which is the best song on this list yo lmfao!🤣😭
They actually included an IDT song which is both surprising and correct
That last one had me laughing my butt off
"Fuck Earth Crisis, the drummer from Fallout Boy plays with them now."
The tides is my favorite darkest hour song pretty good album too.
I agree that Not the American Average should've been The Final Episode. It's up there with Attack Attack for textbook crabcore. Second & Sebring was a solid choice, as was The Downfall of Us All.
Nik angry at spotify is my favorite content on all the internet!
Pretty solid playlist. Probably would change 5 of the songs max.
Love from autumn to ashes.
I better see some maylene and the sons of disaster on that list! (Dallas Taylor, the old vocalist from underoath, his other band from before his 4wheeler accident)
The Royal crown vs blue duchess from autumn to ashes is their banger
My Curse might be one of the greatest metalcore songs ever written...
But My Last Serenade would be a better pick for a classics list. ;)
The Absolute Between the Buried and Me disrespect on this video.
Chelsea Smile goes so hard tho but definitely not 1🤣
Perhaps instead of something from avenged's self titled, spotify should have done something from sounding the seventh trumpet, or even another from WTF, since STST is not as popular.
For classic motionless they should’ve picked ghost in the mirror off of the when love met destruction EP
I'm shocked that BTBAM wasn't mentioned in this!? They are one of the GOATs.
he ignored mordecai
Darkest hour hell yes
So many bands thst should be in this list. Rifles at Recess is one that needs to be in.
