Will is hugely respected and valued here in the UK..I don't think he would still be making music if he was much bigger than what he is now.. * I do hear what you are saying though - but I think he's incredible.. I don't like many male vocalists tbh - but love wills voice and music
I've seen a lot of groups and singers over the years, but Will is one of the best voices and singers ever, as they say underrated.

I find it interesting that so many people say the song is a work of art but they hate the video. I personally love the video.
It’s so different to a lot of the norm in pop. Plus, the lyrics aren’t exactly joyful as they almost seem to represent a loss and maybe trying to let go of a love that isn’t real or no longer exists. Plus, due to his own loss of his brother, I think a more somber approach perfectly fits. I also find it very interesting that it focuses quite a lot on what appears to be a wedding ring which is in quite high contrast when he falls in the mud. A true piece of art indeed!

Will keeps delivering beautiful songs. He maybe underated BUT he's real talent and that means he'll be around long after the fadish acts have had their 5 mins of fame in the charts.
This isn't an original song, it was originally written and recorded by Bat for Lashes (a.k.a. Natasha Khan) and released in 2009. This version is quite different from the original but both are absolutely beautiful.

This song is so romantic. Love Will so much . I dont think he gets credit for the groundbreaking artist he is. All his videos are so imaginative and his music so wonderful. Would love to see him live someday. Hope he can come to Ireland soon.

@@hartleyjr Just read an interview with him in the Guardian. He talked about the album and said that it would be all covers of female artists that he loves (or something).
I'm certainly interested. I haved liked or loved the majority of his covers to date.
@@hartleyjr I love both Will’s and Natasha’s (Bat for Lashes) versions. Two great voices, equally beautiful and haunting. With great songwriting (Natasha), it’s hard to go wrong. It works well the way Will slowed it down a bit, which, to me, adds to the emotion and the power of the lyric. The acoustic guitar and strings in Will’s version add a wonderful organic quality. That he didn’t stray far from Natasha’s original arrangement speaks to the absolute perfection that it is.

Strangely this has lots of hooks (like the Piano bits) that are hardly audible in the original (which I just checked out). Bronski Beat was full of hooks like the beginning of Smalltown boy.

@@neil2e0jvc he's not "copying someone else's song" it's a cover. Like so many good songs you can't keep down. As an example, "Eleanor Rigby" by the Beatles has been covered 131 times by the likes of Ray Charles, Toney Bennett, Aretha Franklin, etc etc. and they have plenty of talent! type in "10 of the most covered songs in music history" into google. Will covering Bat for Lashes original is part of his celebration of modern female artists :-)

Will Young is unique - one of the best male singers around and he makes great records - loved him from the start but everything from Echoes onwards has been my favourite. Love love love this track. Saw Will love in Taunton a few years ago and he looked straight into my camera as he was singing. He did Joy with big bouncing balls that he threw out over the crowd and it was a moment i'll never forget. Such a unique talent and awesome character. My wife and I lived him and have done for years. Would love to go see him on one of his intimate evenings... I hope he keeps it up. Legend.
