- Fooocus Installation, walkthrough, updates. Hello everyone! I decided to cover the original Fooocus because recently I found out the MRE version will no longer be supported. There also have been some additions to the original version, inpaint and outpainting as well as 2 other modes for anime and realistic images. Fooocus is a decent platform for beginners that can get you started with SDXL or even stable diffusion 1.5. Hope you enjoy this quick walkthrough!
Best of all you can run it on as little as 4GB of VRAM with an NVidia graphics card, AMD and Mac to come

Super easy to install as long as you have an NVidia GPU min 4GB VRAM. Has sort of a Midjourney like feel to it.

Thanks for this!! I learnt how to use that painting tool correctly. Would be nice for us beginners to understand how to download + set (good) lora, checkpoint etc., but also how to use those right way with Fooocus. Honestly I am really lost with that stuff and therefore it would be helpful video content.

Sorry for the dumb question, till confused if Fooocus can only use SDXL models, or other non SDXL such as SD1.5 trained ones?

Great question Sergei, Fooocus is meant to use only SDXL, however as shown with the anime version you can use SD1.5 as a refiner but so far I've found it works best with non-photorealistic images like comic, anime, 2.5 images.

Advanced image prompt canny and depth options are basically controlnet right? I’ve been enjoying fooocus lately and editing the config to point it to my A1111 model/lora folders so I don’t have to redownload them.

Fooocus is a stable diffusion platform like ComfyUI and A1111, just a different platform with different options, not as robust as those 2.

I believe for the M series but performance isn’t great.

Looks really good and makes it simple.
There is a simple version of controlnet under image prompt, basically only canny and depth but hopefully they will ad more features. The image prompt is basically reference only or ip adapter control net functionality.

If you select developer debug mode you can see the control net options

Brilliant video as always! I have a question, hope someone can help me: i need to do a prompt with a wolf and a spider fight each other, but i have problem with thise subjects! They tend to merge in a unique creature (a wolf with 8 legs or a spider with wolf head)

Yes just saw it yesterday in the discussions! Going to cover it soon. It is a fork though, I wish it was installed directly in the main fooocus. I hope this version stay around.
When downloading is finished instead of opening the software it asks me to “press any key to continue” when I press a key it just closes the window. Any advice?
I got the message "Error" while moving model to GPU .? Can you tell what is the problem?
Is there a way at to use open pose or dw_pose to get better posing with fooocus?
On a Mac, so I thought fooocus was a wonderful find.
So there are a couple options, PyraCanny is kinda like pose and canny together, it works pretty well. Just have to play with the "stop at" and "weight" options. However there is also a fork of Fooocus with more controlnet functions that I've been testing out and so far it works pretty well. My only issue with "forked" versions is if the developer will keep up maintaining it. github.com/fenneishi/Fooocus-ControlNet-SDXL Focus MRE was another one that I loved using which was another fork and it had controlnet but the developed is longer making updates.

Great video! Everything went good, i installed it but when i tried to generate images they were saved in my main SSD not in my second SSD where fooocus is installed. can i change the location where the filles are saved?

When I click the batch file, command prompt is open and it says click any key to continue. However, that just closes it. Can somebody please help me?

I get an error when I run the bat file.. it says "Found no NVIDIA driver on your system" I'm on windows 11, 16gb ram, Ryzen 7 3700X processor, AMD Radeon R9 360 GPU... I know it's not Nvidia but I thought it would be good enough to run this even a little slowly?

I have installed Fooocus as described in the video.
I have started an initial example with the same prompt as you. I was trying to get the same wolf.
The software started and stop at the very begin. Is does not advance. It shows a message as initializing and does not evolve after that. I have waited for several minutes…
I am using a GPU card from Intel. It is: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 instead of anu NVIDIA card.
Does it clog the software?
Is there any solution to permit this software to work at my computer?

I don’t think it’ll work with a uhd card. Is it a laptop? Gpu is critical for any stable diffusion platform

how to add the already existing Automatic 11111 checkpoints to Fooocus folder? Is there any shortcut for that?
In the main Fooocus folder there is "config.txt" file. Open that up and you will see "path_checkpoints". All you have to do is type in your path and save the file. For an example mine looks like this path_checkpoints": "C:\\Users\\ermin\\pinokio\\api\\A1111\\automatic1111\\models\\Stable-diffusion" Again yours will be different based on your set up.

Excited to try and installed. I have AMD so followed the steps to add lines to Run.bat. Cannot generate an image though. Dropped down to 762 size and still get 'RuntimeError: Could not allocate tensor with 165150720 bytes. There is not enough GPU video memory available!'. I have 32GB of RAM and AMD Radeon RX 6700XT.
AMD gpu is still beta, try the discussion board on the GitHub page linked in the description

Hello, I am doing the installation walkthrough now, but when I open the checkpoints folder, it doesn't show SD, only shows juggernaut XL. Did I miss something?
Nope that's all it comes with, you have to go to a site like Civitai.com and download the models that you want. Filter it for "SDXL" and I would just try the top ones that have the most downloads. Just put them in the same folder. 👍
other models can't be used, is that correct? getting error that it's not implemented to use other models. only loras

1/ Can i open Fooocus without redownload everything over again ?
2/ I did the -- listen to the bat file but it doesnt work. Can you explain it how to work ?
3/ Can fooocus runs without the internet ?
I am not sure, what is wrong with Fooocus. Once I install it, it works fine for one or two times, and then it stop working. I even increased the swap file to 40 GB. Did 2-3 times installation already. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Run the prompt and it did it's magic but nothing happened. How do I access the Fooocus interface? Is there an icon to run it ?

I'm got lost so easily, haha. So once you go into checkpoint how do you get the the actual application?
No worries bud and yeah I supposed I wasn't too clear at 1:17 those 3 bat files will launch fooocus. run.bat is the main one, run_anime and run_photorealistic can also be launched separately adopting those styles. Never really knew why they did it this way but oh well.
Does the bat file have to be run every time I want to use Fooocus?

Unfortunately not since it's an SDXL platform but you can use SD1.5 models as "refiners" as a hack.
When I run the bat file, it installs for some time but gives an error saying that Nvidia graphics drivers were not found in the device. and then stops working. I have run the program thrice before on the same device and that time, it didn't give any error. So what could be reason for this?

Yeah it won’t work on your system. Many of the local stable diffusion apps run better on a dedicated graphics card, particularly NVidia.
I downloaded the zip file, extracted and then downloaded the 6gb file later it also downloaded 222mb and the window just closed. in many videos i have seen an offline window opening on the web browser immediately after the 6gb file is downloaded. is there any way out of this or does my laptop not support fooocus?
Likely your gpu isn’t sufficient but how would I know if you don’t share your specs?
when I want to generate, there always appears "Error - connection errored out" Can you help with that or do you know why it is?
Can't be sure without seeing it myself, usually it's a bad internet connection or the command window was closed.

Highly likely, what GPU do you have? I believe it cam run on AMD+Linux. But yeah NVidia is preferred and best to use.

Hello and thanks for your cool tutos! I asked the developer to put the ratios' list in a *.json file, as it's in a *.py file that is overwrittent everytime we launch the soft, the ratios I want are always gone. He could also do what was in the mre version, which is a field to enter the ratio we want. However, he doesn't do it. If you're in touch with him, could you, please, ask him to do that, as ratios belong to the basic settings? :)
From what I know the developer of the MRE version is offering to help out, let's hope they include this as well. I liked that we could do that in the MRE version. Let's hope he puts it in! 👍

All the details are on the github page which I've linked. github.com/lllyasviel/Fooocus Nvidia GPU's are best but AMD is supported but not as good. Minimum VRAM for Nvidia GPU's is 4GB and system RAM 32GB is recommended.
I do not have a Nvidia GPU and I do not have a AMD GPU I have a AMD CPU with 12 GB VRAM would this work for me?@@MonzonMedia

You can download it from here huggingface.co/stabilityai/stable-diffusion-xl-refiner-1.0/tree/main and you want the file named "sd_xl_refiner_1.0_0.9vae.safetensor". That being said, it should've downloaded it by default? If not you can just save this in your models folder. You will likely not need the refiner model though, unless you choose to use SDXL as your base model. If it's a fine tune model, the refiner isn't needed.

Check the link in the description to the github page, further down are instructions to install for M1 or M2 mac. Unfortunately I don't own one so I'm not sure how it is.

Make sure you keep the command window open. It needs to stay open while you use it.

I'm testing Fooocus, but it's melting my computer (32GB RAM, Ryzen 9 5900, Radeon 6800XT). Temperatures are off the charts, I can boil water on my GPU. There were a few times when the computer just shut down and I wondered if it would restart.
Any ideas on how I can slow down Fooocus to render a little longer but not burn my computer to the ground? :)
So it definitely takes a lot of GPU processing but it doesn't sound like it's a Fooocus issue, more like your system. I also don't think it runs too well on an AMD card, might not be optimized for it.
@@MonzonMedia thank you for response. I will definetly look more 'outside' of Fooocuse. I know they have poor AMD support (although i ran with edited .bat file they recommend from AMD GPUs).
Maybe speed up the fans or undervolt GPU...

Does it not autolaunch your browser? If not look on the command window for a numerical url something like 127.0.0.1:7860/. Paste that in your browser and save it as a favorite and keep the command window open while using it.

Yes there are instructions for AMD cards in the link in the description. Same process as this install but there are some extra steps.

What are the specs of your computer? GPU, system ram, processor and where focus is installed is it an SSD, M.2 drive or mechanical HD?

I do mention in the description that an Nvidia card is required for this type of installation. Also on the installation page are clear instructions on how to install for other systems and GPU's. Always read the install instructions and minimum requirements before you install anything open source.

No worries. Anything AI related is best with a dedicated Nvidia gpu at the moment. Theoretically you can run it on a cpu but It will be super slow and not recommended.

Hhmmm try downloading the latest driver from the main Nvidia site. Should work on your gpu. Of all else fails head k we to the focus GitHub discussion board and see if they can help you. Link in the description.
