- Here is the footage of my first two weeks of knee replacement operation, starting from the time we went to the hospital, the operation day, and the days afterwards in hospital and at home.
Actually, it was my daughter Waliya and my birthday on 22nd June. So, I've shared a bit of our birthdays, Nataliya and Anya my grandchild arrived in early hours of 22nd June.. I drove to the airport to pick them up.
Soon it was 26th June, and time to get admitted in Shifa International Hospital, Nataliya was my attendant there. Some preliminary check ups were done and we got comfortable. Early next morning the operation was done. Sorry, nothing to show you about that, as I was 'sedated' and later 'woke up' in the room near the operation theater. So, next four days in hospital are seen in this vlog as well as the move to home and the days at home till stitches were removed by the doc.
I'm sharing it all, for anyone else planning to go through it. Lets hope you can avoid it all. I faced some unexpected things like two weeks of sleeplessness. Which was quite mind boggling. Finally, I've got two days of full night's sleep and sanity has prevailed.
I've received daily physiotherapy by Shifa hospital staff in the hospital from first day post op onwards. I walked on the second day, which was pretty thrilling.
It is definitely a tough journey. You've got to keep your mind optimistic and cooperate with the medical team, in spite of the pain. Ouuuuccchhhhh!
Find ways which are more suitable for you.
Sabir, my physiotherapist at home said, 'I've never had a patient like you!' (I'm not surprised, because my cancer medical staff would say the same too!) Well the fact is I've watched lots of videos on the subject so I've learnt a lot. (CZcams is full of them.) Warning: Choose what you watch carefully.
Anyhow, I'm on day 23 which is almost a month now. Still two weeks to go.
