Such great insights! I'm curious about your thoughts on cost of living as well; the stipend definitely doesn't go as far in some cities. Also, I'd be really interested to hear how you chose Penn over other great programs. I know you talked briefly about the culture there and support system, but what were some of the other factors that made you chose Perelman specifically?
I think in terms of how far the stipend goes, honestly in most cases it’s pretty modest. If you live frugally in general and aren’t insanely extravagant nor insanely thrifty, you can be comfortable. In most cases, the stipend is also (mildly) adjusted for cost-of-living. For example, in Philly the current stipend is ~34k/year, while in NY/SF it can be as high as ~42k/year. Regarding choosing Penn specifically, that was actually the initial intent of this video but I couldn’t fit everything in a reasonable amount of time! Instead I’ll be posting another video about that question soon, so stay tuned :)
