The fact that you guys appreciate Sandy Denny and Ian Anderson (referencing another video) again tells me that you had parents that had great taste in music and made sure that you heard it.
I've loved this song ever since it was performed by Sandy Denny with Fairport Convention (much better than when she was with The Strawbs) and I play their version very regularly. I've also listen to numerous other cover versions and none have come up to the standard set by her - until now. I really like this version as it stays true to Sandy's while still adding original parts too. It maintains that clear simplicity of sound. Thank you.
Thank you my friend I really appreciate this comment, as Sandy is my favourite singer so I’m glad you thought we did her song justice. She also has a great version available on CZcams of just her singing the song with an acoustic guitar, you should check it out if you get the chance!
Sensacional covers... Another asks for you, guys: - James Taylor - Fire and Rain - Jim Croce - Time In a Bottle - Jethro Tull - We Used to Know - Jethro Tull - My God * The artists' initials being "J" was not on purpose LOL Greets from Brazil!
Beautiful version. Captures the feel of the original (which I’ve loved and listened to ever since discovering Fairport while in HS back in 76). Great job on all parts but especially the vocals and the guitars. Loved RT lead guitar work on this song and this - while different - does evoke RT’s feel. Well done!
Thanks Charles, we really appreciate the compliment about evoking Thompson’s feel, he one of our favourite guitarists and fairport wouldn’t of been the same without him
@@thomasbradleyproject5676 That's correct. Several versions by Sandy, Blacksmith have a nice version, and of course Judy Collins had a commercial version.
Absolutely lovely. Felt every note. I've always been fond of the Judy Collins rendition, but in the hands of a really good tenor this was magical. Great rendition! Thanks for putting in the work.
Wow, this kicks major ass! I bought Unhalfbricking on vinyl in a used record store back in 1985 and this is a favorite of mine. You guys did an amazing version of this incredible track. Thank you.
I just spent the past two days searching for my favorite version of this song. Of cousre, I started with Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention. Then to Judy Collins and Eva Cassidy. But this cover is by far the best to my ears. Love its sincere simplicity and reverent tone. Well done!
You guys are excellent interpreters. You don’t play cover versions so much as you perform faithful yet individually distinctive renditions. Fairport is one of my favourite bands, I saw them open for Jethro Tull back in the late ‘80s here in New Orleans.
I like to think “I know things” lol re good music and trust me when I say this is so beautifully done. The story of Sandy Denny and her untimely death is one of those real Bi polar tipe tragedies imo
I want this played at my funeral!
This is a good cover of one of the greatest folk/rock songs of all time. keep it up boys. These songs need to kept alive.
The best cover I've ever heard of this classic, it rivals the original!
Haha I don’t know about that mate, but thanks for the kind words :)
This song always hits me like a ton of bricks. Great work
One of my favourite songs, love the version, and the voice. Cheers
Great cover boys
Warm, heartfelt rendition, I love Thomas' touching voice.
Thanks blues juice, can’t compare with Sandy Denny but I tried my best!
Wonderful version. I saw the Lady sing it live and she would have approved. ❤

They do indeed my friend Thanks so much! Please give our originals a gander if you’re feeling kind, I think they’ll be up your street :)
Perfect diction. Well done. That is the point of failure for so many.
Thanks Roy, as a scouser that’s the first time anyone has said that lol
Wonderful! You lads did the song its due reverence.
Thanks a lot! Please check out our new original Walk Amongst The Warriors, it’s got a hint of Fairport inspiration :)
Brilliant!
You’re too kind friend :)

Thankyou Edward, we’re glad to have impressed a fairport veteran such as yourself!

I might also suggest Kate Rusty, if you’ve not been there already. Happy Christmas.
Beautiful cover of a great Sandy Denny song.
Well done guys. Thank you from an " Oldy" music lover .
Wishing you a great future ! 👍🙂
Thanks so much! Please give our originals a gander if you’re feeling kind, I think they’ll be up your street :)
The bass player is the greatest. I like that.
@walkofftheearth I would love to see you collaborate with these young geniuses
That is very nicely done. Diolch yn fawr. Tony in Cymru
Thanks for listening Tony! Our first welsh comment! Can tuck that off the bucket list now haha!
Beautiful cover! Amazing job with the vocals, my friend.
Thanks for listening friend!
Too much. Too beatifull. Too amazing.
Thank you so much 😀
Well done!
Thankyou friend glad you enjoyed!

Two of my favourites bands on one show! You’re a lucky man!
I like to think “I know things” lol re good music and trust me when I say this is so beautifully done. The story of Sandy Denny and her untimely death is one of those real Bi polar tipe tragedies imo
Such a sad death, she was a singular talent
Impressionnant. Majestueux. Grandiose. Puissant. Fabuleux.
Wow, thanks so much for this lovely comment. You may enjoy some of our new originals if you have any time to spare :)
I have no thought of time
Wish I could say the same
Nina Samone, Judy Collins - this sounded familiar. You're as good as anyone before you, better than the others in my opinion.
Nicely done lads...
You did her proud with this..
And made me smile
She’d be pretty happy with this version of her song, I am sure.
One could only hope Dave, I imagine she’d be very protective of this masterpiece
Wow, great job, guys. Do you cover any of the great Alan Hulls music? There are several Lindisfarne songs that need to be heard by a younger audience.
Thanks a lot mate! I love lindisfarne, I think we may do a cover of lady Eleanor in the near future :)
Your voice is sounding so heavy in this
Thanks bud
