Adyashanti says that it is very important that the spiritual seeker knows the difference between awareness and what arises within its field (thoughts, emotions, ego, mind, the material world, etc.). So if one wants to understand awareness better and e.g. learn how to deal with his unconsciousness then this distinction has to be very clear.
He goes on with saying that our suffering is due to the fusion of awareness with the content. If we could create space between us and our minds, if we could become more aware of our thoughts and the nature of our minds, then we could it would be easier for us to make the shift from personal ego identity to pure, blissful awareness.

What is your understanding about the statement that the "content" is made of the awareness, which is the substance of all manifestations....? Both Rupert and Adya have said the same thing I remember.....
Ming, like in the dreams you had last night there was nothing there other than awareness. There was no "material" other than conscious-awareness as the observer and observed (content). Kind of like how an iceberg floating in an ocean, is really all just water.
Does that make sense?

If one can’t use the contents of awareness to experience pure awareness then one is left just waiting for pure awareness to show itself? You just recognize that everything you’re aware of is contents and don’t identify with that but you’re basically helpless to experience the context unless it reveals itself, right?
@@hammercpa Yup this is a hard one for the mind. My mind suffers a lot with this question... Even when I know deep down the mind can't get it.

this is not true. In my case I am not aware of being aware. So the truth of what adya is talking about is NOT true for me, but p[erhaps in a future state when I practice being aware of awareness for a couple of more years. or motnhs
Looking for Oneness not trying to come off like a dick but you’re lost bro. Take this with a grain of salt: Once you accept that you’re lost, you stop and just look around, so do that. You can’t “look for oneness.” You’re trying to touch the tip of the finger with that same finger, sounds ridiculous but that’s what your doing. Drop the past and future and turn to your life that’s happening now. You have no choice but to be aware. Be choicelessly aware and you’ll see there is no “future state.” That’s what you’re looking for. Anything else breeds psychosis.

Jesus was a human like all of us. A very enlightened, loving one, who didn’t want to be worshipped. He just wanted people to treat others with love. Jesus can be your inspiration, however you don’t have to worship him. Just be love & love love love
