this guy's a genius
Alien
This guy is a monster with power enough to broken the Earth
He's the best drummer to ever exist
Donati is like Bruce lee of drums. When he plays u can see, there is so much power and skill to his strokes but he does it so effortlessly.
Also like T, Lang his style is similar, I don’t like to compare but Donati is a rare breed ahead of rest ....one of a kind
We share the same about Bruce Lee, and I also don’t like to compare, but there isn’t anyone that is worthy to be compared to Virgil.
A humble person, and a fantastic musician. Thanks for upload Virgil
Virgiiiiil! The best of the beasts! 🔥💯🔥
The beauty of drums, maths which is infinite and turning those math explorations into music.
KJV1611 it’s both
This is something even difficult to process, however, the outcome is extraordinaire!!!
Greatest of all time
Simply the best.
awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always such impressive time keeping/drumming!
MOM, just MOM!. Hang on, i was hanging upside down, that's WOW. just WOW.
Magnificent Gentleman !!!!
This is incredible as always Virgil. Your speed and power is astounding not to mention your musicality and timing. However, it is your devotion to your instrument and your music that really impresses me every time. Thank you for being so amazing and humble all at the same time!!
superb as usual.
So fun to watch. Thanks for sharing Virgil
And yet another enchanting solo!
Always phenomenal, and the video/sound production is perfect
Love it!! Thanks for posting, Virgil!!
By god, Virg! I'm so glad you included non-brewed condiment in your show. That's such an underrated piece of music.
one of the best half an hour of my life, i didn't want it to be over! one of kind.
buddy rich would be proud
Fantastic!!
Fantastic
Aaahhh. Great. Thanks Virgil. This brings back fond memories of drum clinic. Nice to see that you've used some of the photos I've sent you. This is great! You're such an inspiration to me and my students.
Can't wait to see and hear your next project and videos you're posting. The Port Elizabeth drummers are HOOKED on your music and drumming specific.
Virgil really hits so well and gets such a Great sound from the drums.
12:17 what a straight ahead jazzy hi hat pattern.
SUPER
The King of DW :).
Top 👏👏👏👏
Awesome...
Top demais.show .adorei esse som Virgil.fã n1👏👏👏👍
rhythm zero - definitely my favorite from that album
Impressive! He has been practicing, hasn't he. Although he has been shying away from the poetic side
Idk Wtf I just heard but I love it. I got off my kit from practicing a few minutes ago, now I wanna go practice again.
Oh my effin god..... the Non Brewed Condiment!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost in its entirety!!!
Your great sound etc
4:50 to 5: 05 hi hat variations amazing!!
HOOLEY SHEET!! So this replayed Holdsworth material DOES EXIST somewhere?
AAAAAHhhhhh
Wow.
Yep. I need to practice more
GOD
monster
😍
PLEASE list your personnel! Monster playing by all! 👍🙂
God
Thanks to Virgil for the inspiration
Unreal once again. When does the UK get a taste of these clinics, my dude? :)
Jago 💥✌
I think he writes and plays the music as well, the Zappa of Australia without the weirdness.
And without the musical genius and unique personality of Zappa
Yes, Virgil has always inspired my life, i'm not a drummer, but a thinker. His direction outlook is exceptionally inspiring.
Virgil seems to have been an evolution from the branch of Vinnie Coliauta
Hope Virgil makes it through CANADA SOMEDAY. Maybe Clinics through Long & Mcqade
Esse Virgil Donati toca muito.
11/8 is a real toe tapper
🙌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️🥁
it is possible to get the minus drum for Eleven Song .... ?
Have you considered doing an album of Holdsworth compositions? You're incredibly in tune with them.
QuintupletSandwich this is a great idea 🤔
Hi Virgil, can you tell me sizes and models of your hi hat and ride? Thanks
14" left and 13" right, both Sabian Artisan I think. Cheap stuff.
It seems like Virgil doesn’t play much double stroke bass drum these days.
The guy at the 25:18 in the first row hahahah (wait for it)
This song not too complex, interesting.(intro)
Watching this, i canot help but nod my head and tap my foot. Look at the crowd, no-one is moving anything? come on guys, enjoy what you are seeing, you can analyze and enjoy at the same time.
I am practising a triplet hihat beat on the left foot across the beat but my beat is kick snare 4/4 sobs.
With just as many chops as any gospel chops drummers, why does Donati not sound like most of those guys? Is it touch, dynamics, ideas, all of these?
It is all of the things that you mentioned (especially dynamics) but mostly? He is playing much more advanced things than gospel chop drummers. The concepts, orchestrations and permutations are all way beyond what anyone else is doing apart from Travis Orbin and Vinnie Colaiuta.
He was too good for Dream Theater.
Chad Wakerman is an excellent drummer, but Virgil would've been a better fit to the genius level composition of Allan Holdsworth. Too bad they didn't collaborate more often.
I think Holdsworth enjoyed Wakerman and Jimmy Johnson because they “held it down” or held it all together. I remember seeing Jeff Berlin with Holdsworth during the Road Games days and there was too much going on. Just because you have chops doesn’t mean they should always be on display.
Virgil please stop. You are going to put Rolex out of business.
Every time I see Virgil playing makes me wanna quit drums
Marko Marković you should be inspired...not quit drumming.
Marko Marković every time I see Virgil playing I want to go sit behind my kit and rock out! Remember there is no 'someone else is better' in art and expression. We are all just different.
That's not what Virgil would want to hear! :) Practice !!!
EsaelPaggin024 That's easy to say for someone who knows WHAT to practice and HOW to practice :( That's always been my problem, not that I'm lazy, but not knowing what & how, even though I started playing drums back in 2001 (damn, I'm old!)
Marko Marković Just enjoy Virgil ,remember out of all the drummers out there,he is at the top of the mountain, tons of us feel like giving up after watching him but I just get rid of my competitive ego driven mind and let my inspired mind take over and enjoy the music,I remember Virgil saying that at a gig once at The Grainstore Tavern, yonks ago.
“enjoy the music”
Indonesian musicians prefer akira jimbo as a drummer compared to you
Good for them.
lol Virgil runs circles around him.
