Ive not had a DOT look at my logs while running paper. But, there's surely things i need to have if i do. First ABC foremost. Clean smooth lines on the log. Keep it current up to the 3 last changes so you can calculate quickly. Check your storage. Make sure you can hand a complete log with no forgotten or mistaken work. I keep my looseleaf unused log papers in my safetybook along with all other papers regarding to compliance. Working papers, like active bol, receipts, weigh tickets, go in my quick grabber box, i use one of those thick aluminum storage clipboards.
    3rd remain silent.

One thing I wish to point out is you didn't log a post trip Inspection. Is that no longer required?

Weird thing is DVIR. Modern companies lump in dvir with their ELD. So much so, that it might or is certainly a part of your ELD training.
First off. Your truck is not perfect
    Report everything!
(Might be the most important rule).
Second, let nobody tell you more about your truck than you know. I.E. MAINTENANCE, ROADSIDE, SAFETY,ETC.
    Always listen.

What about if I start driving at 10pm and drive until the next morning? Do I only log my start miles on the first day and then put the total miles for both days on the second days log?

You did a bad job at the end. Where did you get that 8.5? Is that yesterday's hours?

Keep uptodate on your logs. Paper logs are extremely forgiving by require 15 minute units to measure.

Why a 15 minute minimum? What if I stop for 2 minutes to pee?
