    • @seriultgmx
      @seriultgmx Před 9 měsíci

      The previous Gen of this monitor is the Samsung M8 4K monitor, that is a VA panel that peaked at 400 nits. The one he is reviewing is the s9 5k version that is an IPS panel instead that peaks at 600 nits with a wider colour gamut (sRGB and DCI P3: 100% and 99% respectively)
      The VA panel in the M8 has slightly better black levels but poor viewing angles. The M8’s colours looked very washed out in comparison to the s9.
      The s9 looks way better in brightness, colour accuracy and vibrancy but slightly worse black levels but honestly the s9 for a matter display is as goods as it gets.
      Technically on paper, the display is just as good as the ASD

    Hi, I have a question about the different color space modes. I have bought two of these monitors and want to grade in Resolve, typically BT 709. So I set the monitors to BT 709, Do I *also* have to set the Mac's system preferences to BT 709 as well? or leave it at default or Display P3? This has confused me for weeks. When I view content not created by me. the blacks look too black, but I always grade to scopes and never crush content that I create. I'm unsure at how it will look to other peoples once I export and they view it.

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  Před 5 měsíci

      I usually switch to AdobeRGB mode before calibrating since that's the widest colour gamut. Sidenote: 100% AdobeRGB displays are more expensive for a reason.
      After calibration, you can switch the monitor colour mode to P3.
      You will definitely need a colour calibrator so that the two displays can be calibrated to the same standard (and colours).
      Unfortunately, you would be able to know how your video will look on other people's display because everyone uses different displays. People could be watchnig your videos on an old yellowing display. You can only control the colours on your end.
