- This waffle recipe is so versatile, you can add just about any mix-in from chocolate chips to blueberries and even use the base for savory waffles.

No need for so much oil or sugar, just add a really ripe banana instead. 1 egg and made with oatmeal, so much healthier than this.

I've been using the recipe that came with the waffle iron my parents received as a wedding present in 1950. The waffle iron still works (and gets ungodly hot), and the recipe is such a snapshot of old-fashioned cooking: milk, melted butter, eggs, flour, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
I made this today as I just got a waffle maker and it is so good! Very fluffy and perfect base to out toppings on. Thank you for sharing!

I'm not trying to insult you but only taking my cue from your username when I say: You really must have been living in a cave all your life to have never had a waffle. Not one store with a freezer case doesn't have at least one brand--even Dollar Tree has them. Wonderful crispy-on-the-outside-fluffy-on-the-inside waffles with butter and real maple syrup are one of life's great Sunday morning breakfast treats to look forward to.

The texture is just perfect. I have one question though. Does it matter what baking soda we use? My waffles tasted so bitter. I think too much baking soda. I used organic baking soda. To save the remaining batter, I made another batch without baking soda and mix the two batches and it worked! Yay.. so happy! No wastage and get to enjoy yummy waffles. My husband loved it! I am making another batch today. Thanks Natasha ❤
Hi! This recipe uses baking powder. Did you mean to say that? Or did you use baking soda by mistake? Using baking soda would definitely be the reason for the bitter taste.
When I make waffles, I usually put mill chocolate chips on top when the waffles are still hot, put some cut up strawberry on top of that, and top it with whipped cream.... Heaven

I made the lemon zest ones with maple sugar, toasted pecans, wheat germ and a bit of cardamom.
They were awesome. But, they disappeared so fast I didn’t have any left to freeze!

Just made these in a classic Belgian waffle maker and it turned about absolutely delicious! We were only 2 people, so I used just half of this recipe, and it made exactly 3 waffles. I would definitely make this again for sure!

I tried this today with my kiddos, absolutely delicious!!! Best waffle recipe so far and I’ve tried quite a few. Thank you💕 Kids loved it! I was able to make 5 exactly, my waffle maker makes pretty big waffles. We each had 1 and still had 2 leftover. We even added frozen blueberries to 2 😋

U can use a silicone waffle mold they r cheaper. But you would have to bake it. Preheat the oven to 180°c

We recently bought a waffle iron so I had to look up your recipe - I made 2 changes: turned the milk into buttermilk and beat the egg whites separately to fold into the batter at the end. The waffles were just amazing!
