I loved your comment on ENFPs not being about adventure for the sake of adventure. I am a geographer/teacher and love travel - but I’ve always felt this “wanderlust” stereotype of ENFPs is not so correct. I feel that ENFP’s could see every monument, mountain, and museum (with great awe and excitement) BUT what we’d love even more is to share a meal and talk about that persons perspective of life. I don’t need the Eiffel Tower - I need a good croissant and good conversation. Ha! Thank you for your video! Also, I’m an ENFP and am married to an ENTP and it’s a blast! Ha!

I totally agree...When I am looking for an adventure and that adventure includes a great conversation with a local about their perspective on life that is like finding gold during my adventure. Pictures from my adventure mean nothing if I don’t have something deep or random that I connected with during the adventure

I give you another example. Some people find adventurous going to Thailand or to a foreign resort somewhere on the beach or going on a cruise. I could never, because I know this places are filled with exploitation of locals. It would clearly be in conflict with my values and even if some places look tempting, I would never support such thing. My wanderlust brings me the unexplored path or to the discovery of cities or places with a history. We love stories, don't we?

ENFP here. I stand firm in my personal values and am told by everyone I work with that my optimism and encouragement is contagious and motivating. People ask me how I’m able to stay so optimistic and warm all the time. The truth is, and I’m not certain if this goes for all ENFPs, that there is a lot of pain I carry daily. Sometimes my empathetic nature tortures me and upon self reflection I feel a deep sadness that I’ve carried my entire life. When I slip into my introverted nature I spend that time exploring those painful feelings and investigating my private depression. It can be quite the Pandora’s box of emotion.

I am enfp also and I feel like a part of me was just natural and sometimes unrealized by myself. Then there's been another part of me that was completely misunderstood by authority figures and people who I should of been able to look up too as an adolescent. But couldn't because of the feeling of being isolation and rejection they provided for thinking differently then others. My peers and my relationship sometimes felt like the only reason I got through it. So the appreciation is deep and the tolerance for belittling is extremely low. A definite trigger.

I have two confirmed ENFP individuals in my life:
One was a best friend in college. He was, shall I say *chaotic neutral* with an *interest* in chaotic evil. I ultimately hit him with the “notorious” INFJ door slam to protect myself from ruin via drug abuse (to be perfectly honest). But we did get along swell, and I dearly miss the companionship and conversation we shared. To this day, I’ve never found anyone else who I could cycle 20 miles with, all the while carrying a deep philosophical and political conversation.
The other was a romantic interest 5 years back with whom I’m currently reconnecting. I’m blown away by the staying power of the INFJ/ENFP connection. We remained friends from a distance as life and growth did their thing, but upon reinvestigating the romanticism, we found the embers leap to flame. I mean hello, can you say excitement and passion and synchronization ANY louder than INFJ/ENFP? Really, though.
They are such a pleasure to be friends with. They make you laugh, they entice your mind, they impress you with wit, they socialize like champions, and in the quiet conversations they prove themselves bottomless reflection pools. My instinct tells me they only get better with age...as their frivolous fancies fade (e.g., Russell Brand...I do hope my college buddy follows suit, and perhaps that door may also reopen)
😊 three cheers for ENFPs from this INFJ. Thank you for being you, and letting us be us.

We are both in our 40s and thought we'll never meet our match... it took quite some time to 'persuade' him, we dated reeeeaaaaalllyyyy long, we have this phenomenal connection and chemistry, and since he finally admitted to his feelings (I was smitten since the first date), it's the most beautiful relationship I ever had. ENFPs are lightning fast. I have been told this btw but didn't think much of it until recently. ENTPs can do this as well though with ENFPs it is usually deeply connected to the human condition. ENFPs seem to do something else on this level as well, we can see both sides of the coin though this might not come until later life. Some INFPs can do this too, though again as they mature, seems to begin in our mid 30s. Hard to say. I am not close to many people.
ENFPs can in some ways chameleon but only if they can go into the world of others. Until this happens they are going to take up hard lines on Fi values that are not going to budge. I think most cannot understand how much effort has gone into an ENFPs system of values. There are some things we will not budge on and on this point it is best for both parties to agree to disagree. ENFPs (well this one) do not really like to argue, we like to explore without antagonism. I would hate debating for instance.
I spoke to an ENFP yesterday about a strangeness in us. Many people when they encounter us think we are bubble headed idiots. Not many see the deeper intellectual side because we probably prefer to be bouncy fun and silly. The amount of misperception that goes on here is staggering. And I think it is because most people cannot read the undertones of what the ENFP is really expressing. I thanked an ENFJ recently for laughing in all the right spots because she is one of the few that seems to get me at all.
ENFPs will go to incredible lengths, understatement. This comes at a cost when it fails. Devastating heartbreak. I have been told ENFPs have a hard time ending relationships because of this tendency to go to incredible lengths. For very clever people we can be taken advantage of. An ENFP that has lost a friend is about the sadness creature you will ever encounter.
I feel our emotional lives are as deep as INFJs as well, though I feel it is strangely invertedly so. I think it is why ENFPs seek out INFJs. I feel if I could ever be understood it would be by an INFJ. Either of the N dominants paired to feeling creates a very intense individual. I would suspect INFJs ENFPs are about as intense of personalities as you are likely to find. One is as still as an ocean with the deepest currents, the other is mercurial and energetic like the storm over that ocean. If you want to really know an ENFP, look for what they aren't showing the world.
ENFPs are seeking external validation for what they feel deeply on the inside. This is extremely perplexing as our wide sweep of Ne cannot find what we seek, how can this possibly be ?

@@silentgrove7670 hii, I'm an ENFP and I do feel very misunderstood. The only thing I'd want is for someone to truly understand me and that rarely appens because no one takes the interest/effort to actually observe us and look deep within our eyes where all the answers lie. I feel like INFJs are one of the only ones who'd genuinely want to know the real transparent us.
I've lost 5 best friends this year and it's been very hard, but then again there's always something good in everything. Everything happens for a reason and God will not make us go through something if it weren't something that we could learn from. All we need is hope and belief that everything that happens is beneficial in one way or the other.

I am a male infj and my best friend is a female enfp, we have never dated despite gossip that we have. She keeps my spirit up for the most part. When she is in a good mood her mind is rapid, like fireworks, I have to get on to her for using sentence fragments at times, all in good fun, but when she's down and begins feeling sorry for herself, everything slows down, and it is impossible to cheer her up, which can make me frustrated, she will not accept the FACT that she is an incredibly awesome person. She always bounces back but usually not with my help. I often know the right thing to say in most situations, but not when she's in a sad/bad mood. I'm getting better at being what she needs me to be during those times but I admit it's difficult for me. In the end though we need each other.

It's definitely a challenge for my otherwise fairly well developed Fe. Thank you for your comments, if you have any more insights, I'll certainly consider them.

I’m an INFJ and my best friend is an ENFP. I feel like this is such an accurate description of ENFPs... this really helped me understand Fi more, because I didn’t really understand how it works. But my ENFP and INFP friends both have an innate sense of morality. They are driven by their moral compass, no doubt.

This resonated to my core. I was literally feeling a light pang the whole time in my sternum and stomach area (sounds weird, but I don't know how else to describe it). It's not often that I feel like someone recognizes what ENFPs are actually like. And I guess specifically me as I have only known a handful of ENFPs in my life.
Sometimes I think that I don't understand my own emotions well, but from an objective standpoint, I take a lot of time to look at and process my feelings. I take time to go over them, understand where they come from so I can not only deal with them now, but hopefully deal with them in the future.
I've realized that even when I post things on my channel about ENFPs, I focus more on the ideas and the Ne. I don't spend as much time really telling people what I'm feeling or how my Fi works. However, this video has inspired me to delve further into it and bring it up to the surface.

Most people don't realize this, (but we've talked about it on PersonalityCafe) and ENxPs have multiple tracks going on at once in our minds at all times. When we think of possibilities we can follow 3 or more possibilities to conclusion at the same time and choose from them.
Our Fi is often extremely consistent, but people don't know what to look for, Fi being introverted. I feel like I've been the same girl following the same morals since I was 10. There's hardly any agility there, correct. If you know what to look for I'm completely predictable with morals.

    • @sirgags2738
      @sirgags2738 Před 4 lety +1

People don't realize that our morals being our sword and shield is what makes us so agile. It essentially acts as our backpacks, we have everything we need with us. Allowing us to metaphorically be able to go anywhere and do anything.

So true!!! The old soul quality is often given to us because of this! It's something I don't have to repent for on the daily. Pretty much know that anything I do negatively in a day only negatively impacts me. The trouble is when people care alot about me.. They get negatively impacted by me negatively impacting myself. If I've ever hurt anyone it's always indirectly and usually a result of me try to offend myself for being different. When I didn't actually know myself at first. So I would make commitments to change things about me that I could not change. So it came across as I didn't care.

Yes, travelling for ENFPs is more about exploring I think. It's not about the superficial I've been there, I've seen this like a tourist. We want to learn and expand our inner worlds by discovering the external world, we want to bring things back and share them. Make a beautiful memory with someone, write a story, paint a painting. It's our way of connecting with the world as explorers and whatever our extroverted intuition gathers, feeds into our introverted feeling. It may be an hour's drive away from our home or hundreds of miles away, we want to experience something authentic, a genuine expression of the Universe in an unassuming corner of the world is often enough. No adventure is too small or to big, as long as it's an adventure and in our world, we decide what is and what isn't one 😉

I'm an enfp... This definitely resonates. The only distinction I would make, between the emotional life of the infj and enfp, is that in the enfp's case, there is so much intensely felt emotional chaos that it derails them from what they truly want, sometimes. The infj, in my view, does not betray themselves emotionally, but an enfp might, simply due to their emotions ruling them. I think infj is very steadfast in putting their Ni to work for their benefit and even though they seek social harmony, they know themselves on a deeper level and don't let their emotions run amok in deciding things. What do you think?

My ENFP friend is solid in her Fi. She can talk about herself, her values all day long, but it's far more difficult for her to know how to be there the way Fe's are there for others. So much so that, as much as I love her, I've learned that I can't share anything too deep, especially if it involves personal pain. She just doesn't have the agility with Fe to be that present. I have learned to gently remind her of some of my needs and boundaries and when I speak up, she's right there listening, but I know I can only go so far. .
But wow, when we talk, my Ni puts roots to her Ne and we have the most amazing conversations. Her Ne flights of possible ways to grow and develop inspre me. I deepen her capacity to see deeper meanings, which allows her to consider different possibilities. We're thinking of setting up a CZcams channell together. 🙂

The te is there for once we've explored our values and understanding of the world to then go create an affect on the external world and see those values put out there to create the changes we've come to realise the world needs. So in a sense we explore (ne) the ways of the world and our values) and once our fi has become fully developed we then go out and create those changes we want to see in the world through our te. This could come out through actions or speaking and spreading our realisations. I used to be a stereotypical enfp and as my fi developed through exposure to an infp ex partner, it got developed to almost same strength as my ne, and now at 32 years of age, I'm full of convictions and am making things happen and being the change I wanna see and also find myself verbalising my realisations alot. I, like yourself get on infamously with infjs, and have a few of them in my life. I've yet to enter a romantic partnership with one though. Wonder how things would be with both sharing a living space, as well as being intimately exposed to one another. How their inner most needs are tended to.

The infj is the one peronality that provokes the same type of feeling for them that that usually is associated with enfp alot. Mysterious.. In a genuinely good way. I cant read them as well and it makes them so interesting. It's like I just want to make them laugh or smile. It's so quick and subtle, but they seem to appreciate the fact it that emotion was provoked. It's more rewarding for us because they are truly comfortable being themselves around us. Just to see it makes it feel like the realest they've been for awhile. Definently a cool combination. It's almost like when the enfp standup for something assertively in front of a bigger group. Because it's so unexpected and rare it makes what we say more powerful then the personality types who always do. Thanks man

We are filantropos id say, so go in adventures for us is like to Connect the red and the blue. Its like that if we could understand or crystalize that why, we given strong to that value. I can't speak for other ENFPs but when we find that which makes our values feel in harmony, it makes us feel like what we do serves our unique purpose. Russel Brand is an ENTP in my opinion, just with very well developed extroverted feeling, what he is quick about is introverted thinking, not introverted feeling, in many of his statements you can see that he is pretty blind in Fi. If you watch some of his older shows it was often about debating with people, he is all about provocation, and controversial statements, and he is usually controversial in a way that he is logically (Ti) questioning or joking about Fi values. People just get confused because he is in entertainment industry, and because he is in last years talking about things related to society (which is not the topic only reserved to feelers), but his way of thinking in my opinion is very ENTP.

They even look so much alike that my ex has had people come up to him thinking he's Russell Brand. Definitely ENTP with developed Fe. Some xNTPs can be heavily focused on the humanities and society, more than science, math, etc. They can be more extreme than NFs, in their ideas, communication style and way of thinking. Fi users rely a lot on subjectivity and are very sensitive emotionally. There is just a feeling I get around another Fi user...I'm blind to Ti so it's hard for me to put it into words. LOL

I can see and take in everyone’s point of view and try to understand the way they see the world. But I will not budge an inch on my core values, it’s what dictates our life, they is no separation of our individual self from our core values. I can respect others differences, but they won’t be in my small circle. I look like the fun party girl on the outside, and I am! But I am the deepest person I know, and often long for others who want to delve into the depths with me, very hard to find. I can care less about traveling to a place where everyone goes just to take a selfie and say I was there. When I imagine wonderlust, it’s all about the way the experience/place/scenery will make me feel...and It has to connect me to nature and happiness. Just my point of view

ENFP here. i tend to only depend on myself. i tend to get disappointed by others for not able to give the same energy i gave to them. sometimes i feel like I'm too difficult for people to handle. my past relationships tend to not last very long. they claimed i was being too clingy and that it frustrates to always have to cheer me up whenever i feel down or angry, due to enfp's extreme emotions. so instead, people tend to see me as being the one disappointing them and that i'm the one that had to calm myself down and take the actions myself whether i wanted to stay or leave.
my temporary emotional detachment helps maintaining my mental health. whenever i feel hurt so much from attaching myself to someone, that detachment would come and help me create a distance from that attachment or make the decision to just leave. this usually occurs ONLY whenever i truly get attached to someone and got used spending time with them 24/7 (applies to bff and romantic relationships only) so when they do the things i don't like, my emotions get extreme and told them to not do it again like an obsessive person cz i knew if they continued to hurt me, my detachment might come and tell me to leave. but time and time again, i would get hurt until one day my emotional detachment would come and save me.
due to this deep attachment i have, I'm worried that I'd be too much for my future spouse to handle. thus, i believe that nothing is permenant in my life. People continuously told me to stop attaching myself to someone so much. but if i don't, i would feel really lonely and felt like nothing is worth fighting for in life. besides, i can handle myself in hurtful situations and it's rather easy for me to go back up.
I'm so used to losing people in my life anyway. my bff once told me that i was being selfish for not wanting to accept her new life, feeling detached when she suddenly moved away and got married at 20. in the end tho, she's too special for me to end our friendship and that detachment helped me create a distance from my attachment to her.
fyi, i have way more INFJs in my life than any other types. tho none of them are actually my bff, i naturally feel comfortable and love them dearly. my bffs are ENFJ and INFP.

I'm kinda in between hoping and giving up atm. i know people might say I'm still too young. but honestly, I'm very tired to deal with bullshit. i don't want to go through another relationship if it won't ended up with marriage. i don't want to waste my time and emotions on something uncertain.
I've met guys that are really nice, protective of my safety and respectful. it's just sad that i couldn't connect with them emotionally. our compatibility just sucks 😅
yeah, I'm glad i got to know about MBTI. my lil brother introduced it to me. i think i would go through a lot of dilemma and struggle to handle my emotions if i didn't know about MBTI.
I've become introverted ever since lockdown. and also since my company have everyone working from home. i feel comfortable tho a little empty inside. I'm not sad nor happy. just very neutral. i don't connect with someone deeply anymore, just been comfortable connecting with my family instead. my love for my mom and big brother has been at ease cz they stopped getting angry at me with explosive temper and start to show me more warmth lovingly. so yeah, i feel at ease right now.
tho my extroverted self seriously want to get out of it's shell cz i haven't been connecting with people outside very much. so it's gonna take some time. cz being introverted honestly sets me back from connecting to someone new. and my line of work actually needs me to deal with a lot of people. so i need my extrovertness back 🤣

@@niahelmee6890 I don't think you became more introvert, more like you became the shell of your former self. When I feel comfortable I end up in a ditch of depression and it's hard to get out. Apathy is horrible! I'm concerned for you. ENFPs strive in struggle, mental and phisical movement. If you're anything like me, it would really help you to focus on somebody (or a new passion I guess would help too). Having a crush on somebody and perhaps never even acting on it is a great drive for me and the exploration of my self. It's a great way to focus my extroverted need for connections.

@@niahelmee6890 I am 33 now and I think the same like you, I'm looking for that relationship that will be the ground for the future and I hope that as an ENFP I can manage. Building up a family is so hard and I hope I'm up to the task... But I couldn't do this alone... And if it doesn't work out, at least I tried. I'm done with nonsense...

@@octavia88 oh my.... i think i have become the shell of my former self. i read a post on ENFP sub reddit. it's exactly what I'm experiencing right now. pretty much in a dilemma how i could get out of my shell. I've been trying to go out more, do the things i used to feel very passionate about. but oddly, the feelings were not as strong as it used to. my thought process seems almost empty. i suddenly had zero idea what to say. the friends that i sometimes talk to but not very close thought i was angry at them when really, i honestly don't know what to say to them. i was truly not as talkative as i used to. I'm not as curious. most times I've been trying to force myself to talk.
fortunately, i was able to feel and act my trueself when I'm with my lil brother and cousins, and friends that i normally pour my feelings to even if we weren't each other's bff. probably cz they would give me their full attention regardless the situation. as for my bestfriends, they had other priorities. engaged and married very young. i do miss them but i already felt disconnected with the one that got engaged. she almost always turns her attention to her fiancee (well, her fiancee iss her best friend since childhood). while as for the one got married, i really do miss her but she needs to get her life balanced out first. and i can just wait.
for the most part, i don't feel like connecting, which I'm well aware is really bad for my personality. which is why I've been trying to go out more. however, my messages has been really2 empty so... 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm working right now but most of my friends are studying. I'm planning on furthering my studies next mid year probably. hopefully it'll help even more. really2 hope

Thank u Ren You’ve told me before maybe I’m an EFNP. I’m still on the fence but I seem again to be lean towards ENFP. Can I be on the cusp?

Not really, as ENFP and INFJ use very different functions! I think you are Ne user :) xNFP.

What is the difference between INFP and ENFP?

    • @RensRoom
      @RensRoom  Před 5 lety +2

ENFPs are quite a bit more extroverted usually, ideate quicker/more freely and also more disorganized.
