You didn't mention this but Toad was freaking out about a mini mushroom which if viewed from the shadows could easily look like one of the mushrooms that harms Mario in the games (ex. rotten mushroom or poison mushroom).
Thanks for clarifying! I was honestly so confused and thought Toad was referring to the fact that the mushroom was his property xD
You know, it could also be goomba’s. I have an official nintendo art book and when describing a goomba, it says that it was a mushroom that was good at first but turned bad (I can’t remember why it turned bad). It does say that it’s in the older game so it may not be it

I think bowser's island isn't floating from the lava- I think the lava is pouring from the magma lake that's contained in the landmass- the island actually seems to need to pull itself down using chain ball anchors which suggests the island itself is floating (perhaps the work of Kamek's magic?)
I think it might be a conbination of that and the fact that its just powerfull enough.

Here is another thourght:
Each kingdom has it's own power star that makes it unique and powerfull in it's own way mabey thats how Bowser's ship moves across - it's being powered by it's super star.
@@captaintoad8519 I think that, after viewing the trailer enough times it that each city/country might have it's own super star that gives it power. I think he get's his power from his star and is seeking other countries super star's so he can rule them all.
We see a lot of floating landmasses in the sky. Maybe Bowser just weaponized a natural feature of a floating island in his territory?

Fun fact: Eyepatches are most commonly used to let the eye get used to low-light environments. That way if a dark place is entered, the eyepatch can be removed, thus removing the need for the eyes to get accustomed to the dark.
Though the koopa troopa removing it could also be for comedic effect

@@SterlingSimmons22 no it's actually not common knowledge. There is no historical proof that pirates used eye patches in this way at all.
In fact there has never been evidence that pirates wore eye-patches in any kind of abundance.
AND while the idea of being able to see more easily in the dark going from outside to in, the overall loss of depth perception combined with the dexterity often required for ship work makes it seem unlikely that a pirate would give up their perception in this way

This was an amazing analysis. This makes me even more excited for when we actually do get to see another trailer/the entire movie. They did say that they've been working on this movie for over 7 years now and it shows. This is already the best illumination movie hands down and I can't wait to see what they do with the rest of this movie.

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought the Bowser head (and the chained spike balls) was very similar to that of Paper Mario. It was the first thing I thought of.
The face reminded me of Bowser's face in the mountain that Bowser's castle is built on in Super Mario RPG (you can see it on the world map for that game if you Google it). The whole thing feels like a combination of that and the Paper Mario castle.
Did you forget about Super Mario world and all of the platform is where he uses his head constantly as an entrance or as a decoration.
Even in Super Mario 64 he had the paintings turn into him to display intimidation when you got close.

You missed a detail
When toad screams to mario that the purple murshroom is poisonous, it is a reference to smb the lost levels, where there is a poisonous murshroom.
Except it was a blue mushroom, though maybe Toad mistook it for the purple poisoned ones.
Also, the poison mushrooms come back in 3D Land, and Mario Maker 2.

Hyped, actually seems great! Love the penguins, Bowser, the looks, Mario and luigi, yessss. People say Mario's voice is off, I think it sounds perfectly fine! Also the penguins were a fine addition to the movie!!!
Chris’s voice matches movie mario’s design perfectly. Hearing the iconic mario voice come out of the movie mario would be kinda weird imo

The amount of attention to detail with tiny references and little things going in in the background really shows how much care and effort has been put into this movie. I just know it’s going to be amazing.

Yeah, I doubt Disney/Pixar would of collaborated well with Nintendo. Plus, Pixar is the reason Nintendo can't rerelease the SNES game "Uniracers," because Pixar sued them, because they think they own every generic CGI unicycle, just because they made an animated short of one...

Bowser during down the Ice Kingdom was a more cinematic shot than The Wall scene in Season 7 Finale of Game of Thrones. Props to the animation team!
I feel like at first in Bowser's army were only Koopa Troopas and that's why he is the king of Koopas and the cheap cheaps, the things from Mario 3d land/world, goombas etc weren't supposed to be in his army, but because he has to stop Mario and his gang from getting the stars by convincing the goombas and the other enemies to join his army.
Goombas have their own king, that so happens to bow down to bowser
The goomboss yes. And from what I know goombas originate from the Mushroom kingdom up until bowser showed up and joined his side.

I feel like Bowser shooting fire actually represents the the pose he does in the Mario and Luigi rpgs. More specifically the pose he does in Bowser’s inside story if he’s facing away from the camera.
Looks similar actually, reminds of the same pose he did when he burnt down the guest room in peaches castle

I've been pretty surprised to see this movie take so much inspiration from the New Super Mario Bros. series. Besides the hills and NSMBWii World 7-1 block platforms in the Mushroom Kingdom and the Jellybeam illustration in the poster, the towers in the penguin kingdom mildly resemble the hills from their ice worlds. Yellow Koopa Troopas also first appear in Super Mario World.
The little enemies strolling/swimming around in the background was such a fun detail! Thanks for sharing!
The yellow Troopa being cowardly is a funny touch too.
Yellow ones I’m pretty sure showed up any time you yoshi was available even in Super Mario brothers Wii and Wii U.
One reason why Bowser has no goombas might be because he hasn't met them yet. This will be his first time on the Mushroom Kingdom and will be meeting Princess Peach for the first time same with Mario starting their rivalry.
I’m gonna predict that Bowser will invade a goomba kingdom led by Goomboss, it just makes sense
Or it could be that his own species is taller than them they would suffocate in the snow even if it was just a foot deep because on average Mario is only half the size of a goomba.
In 64 you needed stars to unlock different doors. Maybe Bowser needs them to open one

I think that the power star he found was either the last one he needed or the only one there was because Bowser said... I finally found it.
Don’t know why even the game is actually hint to the fact that Bauser just gets temporary invincibility is most likely going to use it for some kind of Magic amplification.
I think Mario came from NewYork ( like Mario in the old days) trough the pipe, that’s explains why they didn’t go for an Italian accent

I think the castle luigi retreats into is the fortress mario characters enter at the end of a nes level
I don’t think it’s an intentional reference, but the way Bowser’s ship is basically just a floating volcanic island reminds me of world 7 (I think) in Super Mario 3-D World. In that game the second last world is a floating lava island that also has a big volcano I’m pretty sure.

Or it could just be a reference to all of it since it could be a combination of his airships from the classics and the fact that he keeps making castles float and it would make sense that he would use magic and the lava rock from his own kingdom to make his airships instead of wood and random material like in Super Mario 2

I don’t know why nobody caught this but when I told you says don’t touch that mushroom it will kill you he’s referencing the poison mushrooms from super Mario brothers the lost levels but then he realizes that it’s a normal mushroom and not a poison mushroom

Honestly I don't get the complaints about Mario's voice. Judging from the trailer and the fact that we know Foreman Spike is supposed to be in the movie, this is likely going to be an origin story for Mario and Luigi entering the Mushroom Kingdom for the first time. It makes sense that Mario would sound like a normal guy since it's apparent that he is supposed to be a normal guy in this movie. Before Charles Martinet, Mario was usually portrayed as an everyman with a Brooklyn accent so it makes sense that Pratt would emulate previous portrayals such as Walker Boone and Bob Hoskins instead of Martinet.
the plot is likely going to draw heavily from super mario 64, paper mario 64, and maybe a little bit from Odyssey. My mind jumped straight to SM64 when bowser got to the Power Star in the penguin's kingdom.
Bowser's floating island really reminds me of world castle from 3D World
No doubt we will see a Goomba, but we better see a Shy Guy

I want a whole trilogy of Mario there is so many characters they could explore and maybe create new ones for new Nintendo game. I’ve been tempted to buy a switch since it was released but I might actually buy one after this.

One thing you didn't mention: Toad pops out of nowhere to tell Mario that "if he touches that mushroom he'd die", and then corrects himself and says it's fine. Probably a reference to the lost levels' poison mushroom and the fact that so many people mistaked it for a normal one, on top of touching it in the game killing you, just like Toad said.

This implies, that the movie is based on the Mario Bros. Super Show, rather then on the games, maybe like an animated version of the Super Show
Since from Marios origin story in the games, there is no way he is surprised about the looks of the Mushroom Kingdom

Just wanna add that koopas have been having both blue and yellow shells. They were introduced in Super Mario World. Yellow shell gives the ability of heavy stomps when used, and the blue gives the ability of flying - hence why the blue shell is flying to the first place in Mario Kart.

The koopa army reminds me of the standard Roman legion with soldiers in organised square formations and the blue spiked koopa from 5:18-5:40 reminds me of a Roman centurion.

Also blue and yellow Koopa Troopas have existed for some time, and we even see them as color alts in recent sports games.

I was going to bring the blue shelled Koopas in Bowser's Inside Story myself; but then I thought, "I don't think they have spikes on their shells." So I decided not to dispute what Nin10doland was saying however, if you know of a specific time in which there are in fact blue shelled Koopas with spikes, then feel free to correct me. I'm curious; I'd actually like to know. I can't think of any other instance, tbh. 🤔

@@KutieDragon There were blue shell koopas in the SNES game too. But this predates the Mario Kart games with the spiked blue shell item, so they were also spikeless.

I'm so excited for the Mario movie it look amazing the voices are fantastic to I think this will be the best video game movie or at least one of the best video game movies
I think the ending for this movie might be bowser falling into lava then in the end credits comes back as dry bowser or this happens mid way in the movie
At around the 7:06 part of the trailer, you can hear the sound of a Strutting Stu dying in the background noise from Mario Sunshine
The part of the trailer I liked is when Mario first showed up it played the intro to The Super Mario Bros Super Show music at least that's what lots of people on Twitter thinks it is.
Actually, that was the original 8-bit SMB game, though the first few notes were used in the Super Show intro.
It's because this movie is the Super Mario Bros Super Shows animated version, it's not supposed to be based on the games
One thing is how for the dry bones I think their eyes being red is reference to how the skeleton fish in some Mario games like wii or Wii U their eyes turn red when they lock in and start chasing you
the eyepatch troopa and the scared yellow troopa are definitely gonna be a comedic duo or something that keeps showing up throughout the movie
The lights in the sky you described as the nothern lights were actually the southern lights, because the inhabitants of the ice castle were penguins and penguins aren't found in the arctic but the antarctic. Anyway, loved the analysis. Keep up the good work!

I'm glad this Super Mario is not a live action movie. Excited to take my kids who are now into Super Mario to watch this.
Something else I noticed is that the Mushrooms look EXACTLY like the ones from the Sonic movies. I don’t think this means anything but it’s still kinda cool

I am so excited for this movie!! It seems VERY Nintendoesque with what I’m expecting to be TONS of well-executed bits of fan service original Mario Bros. players will just love! I’ve read a lot of negativity about the voices and designs and whatnot, but I say we’ve seen so little!! What I’ve seen and heard is GREAT!! Remember the Super Mario Bros. Super Show? Remember his voice? No one had a problem with it then, he’s a plumber from NY. At LEAST give it one more trailer before hating!! I’m going to LOVE this movie, I am SO excited!

While I don't know of any SPIKED blue koopatroopers, there is a plain blue one in New Super Mario Bros for the DS. It's only in the multiplayer battles though.
Honestly didnt mind Pratty Pies voice. I knew what to expect. I had doubts about Sonic's Movie voice at first but it turned out fine.

I hope this movie brings back Yellow-shelled Koopa Troopas. They were always my favorite type of Koopa Troopa in Super Mario World and the fact that they showed a blue one gives me hope.
Oh also, it's really cool that the Luigi scene shows one of the little Fortress-towers that are usually within the overworlds of the sidescroller Mario games. I don't think it's actually Bowser's Castle, but it might have a Boom-Boom in it.
I liked them too. They were so rare, but I loved the stomping power they gave yoshi.

The forest Luigi is in is actually the one from the Luigi's mansion track from the Mario kart DS game and Luigi's early days of the Haunted mansion series

I watched this trailer with my 4-year old who’s a big Bowser fan. He had the biggest smile during this entire trailer. Not going to lie, I choked up when his smile clashed with my childhood nostalgia 🥹
The sound you thought is of Mario stomping on enemies is actually the Mario theme song, just sort of broken up and slowed down.
Y’all I did see some stuff from Bowser. Like he’s got green scales on his shoulders, tail, and legs, he’s got a longer tail, there’s shoulder muscle and/or structure, sharper/more teeth, knee caps, and a longer fire range

5:47 He is not the king as you can see the cloak they're wearing is different. The one hold hostage is wearing a cloak with golden line across the chest while the king seconds after, has a cloak with royal fur around his neck. So I assume the hostage is the queen or something

It would a reference to Super Mario Bros 3 cartoon where Bowser "king koopa" did try to Take over Mario and Luigi's world.
What if that's the plot here and battle is taking place in New York.
This is actually very likely, since this movie is based on the Super Mairo bros Super Show and not on the games, so it going to New York would be great
this how i personally think how the movie will play out
mario meets princess peach gets to know her and she see mario defeating a small bowser army and ask him to warn the other kingdoms he does and after 2-3 times bowser attacks them and takes the stars as mario fails and return to the mushroom kingdom to find out it was attacked and bowser kidnapped princess peach to tell her where her star is mario gathers the other kingdoms to fight back and defeats bowser

Penguin King appearing twice: Do notice the clothes are different, the captive one seems to have different clothing. The one with the penguin army only has a cape which goes backwars when hee has his arms raised, while the one captive has what looks more like a tonuc with cape since he is held arms raised and he's covered on the front.
The koopas may be haoldding a royal family member or have the king and the one leading the army is a new king now
That sound heard just before Toad reveals himself sounds closer to the jumping on Wiggler noise than the Strollin Stu noise.
I understand why people would be so frustrated with Pratts's voice, but could you imagine listening to the old Mario's voice for over an hour?

Another thing is, unless this is just a coincidence, the way how Mario and most likely later on Luigi first arrives in the world might be a reference to the Super Mario Bros Super Show intro with them getting launched out from a pipe after entering something pipe like in their world
I think anyone would be launched out of the pipe if you didn’t know how to break yourself from exiting especially if you didn’t know where you were going to land.
